Why does the Xbox One S outsell the Xbox One X? I’m assuming cost. Which is why people will buy the Xbox Series S over the Xbox Series X. Flagship or not, there is a reason people don’t buy $2,500 PCs and stick around the $800-$1000 mark. You can still play the same games but you won’t hit the same resolutions at a similar frame rate.

I have a suspicion that the consumer model will retain the V shape but it wont be as pronounced. So if for example the dev kit has a 1 inch depth on the V cutout then the consumer console will have a depth of a half inch.
Wonder why it is so different leading into next gen this time around with leaks. Current gen was leaked/announced already by this time.
Do you think current gen was actually controlled leaks by Ms and Sony, but for next gen everything is on lock down for whatever reason. Doesn't make sense to have a NDA for next gen but not have had one for current gen?
And ye the 'leakers' have been pretty silent lately. Ran out of stories I guess, need something official.

What makes it even more fake is that even if they go with the V shape at least turn it upside down so it can read V on the picture, like reffering at 5 or victory hhhh

They really need to let potential buyers of this, Cyberpunk and GOT know in advance whether they’ll have to re-buy the next-gen version of the game. I’m still hoping for a free patch or upgrade fee instead.

I gotta say, from what we’ve seen from demos like that Heretic Unity Demo, Hellblade 2 and Project MARA (I remember they have confirmed that the footage we saw from MARA was in-game running in real-time with ray tracing) look much better than what we have seen in this generation, in fact, they look too good to be true.
But Sony will be able exceed those demos’ graphics in their PS5 exclusives, you guys will see that happening and will have the best graphics in next-generation, and I would add Rockstar Games’s next-generation Grand Theft Auto 6, that game will be next-level, I can tell you guys.

a game with corridor levels, a film like 21:9 ratio that reduces resolution and a game where obviously 99% of the development time went into the presentation.
you could easily make a game that looks better than that shallow wreck of a game but like it it would most likely be a terrible game with super linear levels and bad gamedesign

The game sucks, but it doesn't matter,we are talking about pure graphics,and Hellblade is not far away from a corridor game too.The best looking game of this gen is Red Dead Redemption 2 a massive open world and the only game I see that can beat it in this final year of this gen is The Last of Us Part 2.

RDR2 has massive amounts of input latency due to its pre-buffered frames that smooth out drops.
without that it would most likely stutter like hell.
so graphics like that come at a price... the price of playability. and it doesn't help that all the super long wind-up animation frames add to the perceived input latency.

This is not going to happen. When Apple presents an iphone and sells it shortly after it is selling 1 product. End. When Sony introduces a new console by itself is useless, consoles need video games. And the companies are going to announce and show those video games, are we going to see the PS5 catalog without knowing the console? That is not happening.

Horizon Zero Dawn and Death Stranding looks as good and don't have RDR2 level of input latency (and some aspects is better than RDR2),I think was mostly a design decision,realism and attention to all the small details over gameplay agency,Part 2 will be on pair in graphics,better character motion and facial animations and from all the previews and footage plays incredible well and responsive,but of course as big as Part 2 will be,will not be an open world.

not only that, Apple doesn't need to instantly sell a new phone... they release a new lineup each year, and they sell for years until they get phased out. it's a steady income of new and older Phones that all exist simultaneously.
and phones usually sell through provider plans that include them, basically guaranteed sales no matter what.

Sony created the devkit for Oberon, a very hot APU. They also patented the design. I think they will indeed use that exact design for the retail box (just a bit smaller height), that it is indeed 9.2 TF - and that that is the reason why they are not revealing anything now. It would deflate all the hype. Looks like Reiner (guy who said that PS5 > XSX) is now suggesting that Sony could even wait until Fall and do just weeks between reveal and launch.

If Sony did this it would be for one reason - the development of the PS5 was such a complete dumpster fire that the box wasn’t ready for reveal until the fall.

Different games doing different things. Besides, since it's a cross gen title, it's to be expected that the improvements will be something like framerate (30>60 or more), 4k, better textures, etc. Kinda like what happens with current titles and the difference between consoles vs beefy pc's.

yeah most cross gen titles were never planned to be cross gen.
games like that are in development for years, there is no way to tell exactly when new systems will release or if they get delayed and stuff.
so this game was most likely made with Xbox One and PS4 as the target and then on next gen it will just run on PC ultra settings and 60fps

The thing is, that's what the console makers WANT to be like. Yes, they want to sell the new hardware to everyone that has the old, but the market is changing. What if a part of the "price" for the hardware is the online service? What if...say if you have PSPlus the new box costs $499 and if you don't, it costs $599? Or maybe then there's another unit or the PS4Pro goes to $299, regardless of whether you have PS Plus or not? Same for Microsoft. I expect them especially to try to get back to their "you need a persistent internet connection" just as soon as they can. That's the way EVERYTHING is going. For the next generation after this and maybe even the mid-gen updates, I expect to see 5G connectivity which, when available in areas should pretty much level the playing field as far as internet connection speed disparities that exist now when say I have a 1GB fiber connection but my next door neighbor 'only' has business class 100mb internet. We'll see but bottom line, both Sony and MS are looking to start to be able to dip into our pocketbooks more often and ditch the 'one purchase every 7-10 years' model. That model helped in building a burgeoning industry but it's there now. The games have Hollywood movie type budgets and everyone wants or needs a bigger piece of the pie...and our wallets!

Well I guess theoretically it's possible. Social media didn't exist in 1995 and Sony wouldn't piss off all but four retailers to the point where retailers would not even carry PS5 in stores.
It's a possible strategy but jeez, batter down the hatches 'cuz some people are gonna lose their minds with no info for the next few months if that's the case xD.
Still #Team10.4-11TFPS5 here at this point (9.2TF is a lot less likely but it's technically a possibility I guess
), but I agree that retail PS5 is definitely using a design similar to the V-shaped devkit. It is starting to get worrying about lack of substantive reveals right about now for the system, but I'm still gonna keep optimistic unless something pops up that disrupts any path for that optimistic outlook holding.

I personally do not give a fuck about xbox or MS but I will not be "more" happy if they release a crappy console like the last one. I belive in gamers as a way of life so having people disapointed, even if they are fan of a console I dont care about, helps noone.

I thought Sony would give PS4 its last run by going all out with discounts, marketing and releasing all major exclusives before 2nd semester (E3 time) BEFORE starting PS5 Hype Train to maxime PS4's end of lifecycle profits.
But now it's all mixed up and very close to next gen with all this backwards and forwards compatibility talk that I don't know what is best to do...
Let's hope it's hassle free PS5 free upgrade/update for major PS4 games.
