Seriously-- I'm beginning to wonder if the reveal was supposed to be in February, but the coronavirus scare has caused a change of plans.

A lot of folks pointed to a February reveal, but "things change". In this case, I don't know it'd discredit them as it is a serious concern worldwide.

It has affected two conferences so far(including GDC), so maybe it didn't bode well for a public PS event, we just don't know about it since everything has been so hush-hush.

Time isn't up for a State of Play, which they may have reverted to.

It's probably Black Ops. It'll be a remake of the original franchise like Modern Warfare 2019 - which looks incredible already on PS4/Xbone hardware.

Because all I'm hearing from you guys is making the GitHub leak seem old or outdated and not representative of the final PS5 hardware which would obviously point to higher CU count 36.

Well assuming what he said is true, a Sony first party team already have the final ps5 devkit. Suppose it can take several months before they are out in the wild?

I think they wanna avoid leaks so when XSX numbers are revealed it's like too late to respond.

right now nothing will be changed other than clocks(GPU wise) and that can be changed Only if the already designed TDP and power draw of Chip allows it. if it allows the increase in clock then in matter of 4 seconds by software update it will be increased lol but these are minor changes, as no one designs a console with a huge TDP overhead.

i've done a layout proposal for a potential big next gen die last summer. back then not taking into account ray tracing components and came to very similar numbers for die size as you quoted. you seem technically interested, so i strongly suggest to read the first two posts (and maybe the last few).

i know the raytracing patent and came across some additional info on rdna design since then. i might update my layout prediction with this information when i find some time. anyways i don't think the surfaced facts still support the conclusion that we will see a <=370mm² die for XSX. It will be larger in the forementioned 400mm² zone. ps5's die accordingly.

No, rumor is it's a project from The Initiative. Could be their main thing atm, or one of a couple projects. If Ninja Theory can work on 3 projects simultaneously, can't see why The Initiative can't work on two projects at the same time.

Question for everyone here for those with gaming PC'S

Does anyone plan on buying a XSX or do you plan on playing xbox on your pc's?

Ive decided on ps5 on day one and have built a new pc all of it is new bar the gpu *970* im waiting to see what is released by nvidia and amd this year with that in mind do i wait it out or just get both consoles AHHHHHHHH

I still plan on getting XSX day one as console gaming is different from pc gaming. More casual, more chill. I like that I can lounge on my couch with my wife while she reads or something.

Absolutely, and a lot of people forget this. I of course have a top spec pc, but it’s a bit shit when I want to just chill on the sofa with my wife. Running an hdmi cable to the tv is ok, but most pc games don’t even support multiplayer gaming.

I have a console and I just sit down with a controller, I’m there. it’s one of the reasons why I have games that I play on pc, but I still game on console.

Yeah it's a convenience thing. I could build out a gaming PC, but I'm fine with console gaming in general. As a result my PC is just an i5 with a 1060 in there, shh don't let the master racers know.

I really hope the game OB saw was sequel to or remake of condemned. Loved the weapons in those games, having to check the ammo and use them as melee weapons. I always saved that smg with full mag for the lunch lady, she deserved it.

If that's the case...why didn't the Pro use 18 cu's... They did more for a mid gen refresh, but can't for a new gen?

Some are saying they can deactivate some but the max is 40...because github.

Why couldn't the max be higher and because of the BC test or Sony's BC it's not showing the full amount available?

I'm not sure but I think it was because of the rumor that Sony was planning to release in 2019 or to keep the cost down? I'm not sure how much it's the cost when you hear their BOM is $450.

To you both , ps4 pro disables half of its cu for ps4 BC. They didn’t go with 18 cu for pro . So what you 2 say makes absolutely no sense. Sony patent is about disabling CU for legacy hardware . Not keeping it same lol . Don’t spread misinformation when you don’t know about something

I'm not trying to spread misinformation. I'm just trying to understand why this 9 Teraflop narrative is going and how that is supposedly is connected with the BC solution for the PS5. I guess this is just tales out of my ass talk and I should just ignore it.

If they used the butterfly design once on Pro, why can't they do the same and use a 'triple butterfly', adding 18 more CUs(18+18+18=54) and disable one or two banks on demand?

You are absolutely right and with the BOM supposedly being $450, I think that's what they might have done.
