While we're chasing our tails here, let's consider Sony's silence.
From a PR perspective, holding on to an announcement because "the XBox is much better" does not make sense. This would be a PR disaster, unless sony has something to bring to the table. In that sense, we can infer that:
A) Sony's marketing is for a major product is an intern with zero real world experience
B) Sony's console roughly the same and they are sticking to their timelines
C) The PS5 is not as powerful, but has other things that can make it better
I'm leaning to B. A) would simply be a gunshot to the brain, and is simply nonsensical, as they would already be in full damage containment. This would not imply revealing the PS5, but we would have seen tons of videos showing "the power of the PS5" without actually revealing said power. C) makes more sense, however since both platforms are running on the same "skeleton" and Sony has the upper hand in HW development, I would not be inclined to lean on it. It is, however, a stronger possibility.
At the end of the day, we're all eager and checking websites, twitter, retweetings Sony's posts and begging them to release some info. They have us in their hand, and that's exactly where they'd want to be if they believe their product to be superior.
From a marketing perspective, it makes total sense, and we are not seeing any signs of damage containment. We are seeing a company using social media and their stronger fanbase to do their job for them.
Just my 2 cents.
