If you multiply it by 1.25x (amd) you get 13.8 (same number I always joke with).

Ah, 50hz. Or "50 hurts" as we used to say, because back in the day us Europeans had to put up with lower frame rates than our US and Japanese friends :)

But, to my pleasure, I discovered that we got higher resolution and better colors via RGB scart. The real problem was pseudo-double buffer VSYNC, which can only switch between integer submultiples of the refresh rate , so in the NTSC regions it went from 30 to 20,15,12,10,6,5,4,3,2 and 1, meanwhile in Europe we went from 25 to 10,5,2,1. For every framerate drop, you get 20 in the US, and 10 in EU.

Personally, I don't see the appeal and reason to play those low-res, jaggy games from PS3 era again but that's me.

Your HDD upgrade was noticeable probably because it's a 7200 RPM drive as compared to 5400 RPM stock drive (they're a bit cheaper so you get that in standard). Those have better seek times (SSD has them much better). The bottleneck of storage in PS4 is SATA2 bus (3 GB/s) so your SATA3 drive can't work faster. Fun fact: external SSD in PS4Pro is a bit faster than when you install it internally. I don't remember the exact reason (must be something with the USB controller) but it's even more convenient to put an external drive next to the console than replace the internal one. Plus you don't have to spend big on 2 TB SSD (still around the price of the console, I guess). I keep the games I play most often on it and move some games there and back or just re-download them. The problem is, it usually me takes longer to install (it's called "copying") the game than to download it. Another problem is that games when patched need double their size of space on the drive so when I'm matching a motherfucker of BFV for example, it's over 200 GB (half of my SSD) I need. PS4 storage hardware and software (file system) is ancient right now and that new tech in PS5 is my biggest expectation, much more important for me than the puberty issue.

Fanboy idiots are on every platform. They should be wishing 9th gen consoles to be as fast as possible because it will translate into better ports of AAA games for them. For which they'll have to buy hardware worth thousands but nobody said having a long e-penis is cheap (and I was into that mustard race myself years ago, boy, was I stupid).

Sony, please give me a USB on the back of the PS5. I hate having my external HDD plugged in at the front.

It is a joke, that's why the number gussing was a GAME, not official announcement. And I like the game, it made the long waiting more interesting.

If it was a real tease, it would have been higher resolution. HOWEVER, and this is me spit balling here, they are NOT going to be emulating the PS2 OS like this, and as such all game saves will be dynamic in the background, like you do on a PS4. You will never see the PS2 OS memory card area.

The NUMBER has nothing to do with PS5(I suppose), because a number is a number.

And another fact is that BGs said he will give the prize to the winner, means that he think that there will be some people who find the number, so if what he hide was the actual PS5 TF number, he will break the NDA since you can't sign a NDA with a random person on GAF through PMs.

So, the game was JUST a game, and it's been fun. I thought figuring this out is a lot easier than the 13.8 number. I wonder why so many people just don't seems to understand. :messenger_confused:

I hope Sony learned their lessons, cause if PS5 is not as silent as the One X they will not hear the end of it and personally I'll feel let down after current gen debacle. I don't care if it is 9.2TF or thereabouts I want that fucking thing silent as a dead mouse and cool as a cucumber.

I'm under the mantra now that until I get my email from sony directly nothings going to happen. If it's on at a reasonable time I will watch what AMD are showing (if indeed they do live stream something) just for general interest of what they are doing in the pc space. If i get some next gen news all good.

The thing that gets me about that PS4 pro design is the fan... is on the bottom. So is that fan an intake, or an outtake fan? Because for heat, you want to get the hot air out as soon as possible while getting the cold air in. Basic engineering will tell you that once you remove the air from the board by pushing it out, cool outer air will fill its gap, and so you place the fan where the heat is expelled (because heat rises), i.e. on TOP.... Yet that fan is on the bottom...? Can somebody explain this one to me? You don't set up a single fan to bring cold air in, because that won't remove the hot air correctly...? Am I being thick here? If so, somebody explain please!

Original expectations were it could have been a game reveal, as the person with the deets has been going on about it in that light, as I would see soon enough. But realistic expectations were a spec reveal, something like a shadow drop info clump like MS did. As soon as I posted, I see AMD are doing their usual live show, and now that I think about the two they fit. So a realistic, up to date expectation would be that you won't get a big reveal, you wont get a full spec reveal (and quite simply WONT get on until release to keep the guessing going), but you will get small info dumps like the CPU powering the next gen system(s), RDNA 2 clarification (RDNA 1? RDNA 2? Or as I expect, RDNA 1.9, with whats needed bolted on for the spec size?).

So, expect nothing, because I wouldn't be the first to say something could happen but didn't. But keep your fingers crossed for at least something. I would be VERY shocked if today we don't have at least something new.

I avoided the mid-gen refreshes until late last year when I picked up an X1X. So mostly working my way through a backlog of XBox 1 titles until PS5 releases. Thus I've got a nice stash of PS4 games I'm holding off on until I can play them enhanced to at least PS4 Pro levels on a PS5. So yeah I'm excited for BC :). Spiderman, God of War, SoTC, Jedi Fallen Order, Death Stranding, Control, Greedfall and RDR2 pack out my backlog. Might get to a couple of them before PS5 - especially if Corona-virus impacts things.

A little piece of me thinks MS and Sony have been messing with us all this time. PS5 and XSX are essentially the same kit hardware wise. The differences they will deliver will be in ecosystem, services and games. Saves them and AMD loads of development money and allows either to use the same server racks for cloud gaming.

It is an intake fan. But the problem isn't wholly the fan, yes it lacks proper ventilation space for ample air to pull, but the heat sink that is in front of the fan is very small. And after heat sink it goes through the PSU in not a straight fashion, so some hot air is always stuck there, since the exhaust ports are also not ample. There is also the issue that on top of the back of the unit, there are some flaws that lets in hot air towards the inside of the unit and should be sealed by users....
