If Sony doesn't win, they amass quite a few from other publications in addition to being nominated nearly every year at VGAs. While game of the year awards are not end all to be all, you love what you love, but Sony's studios are highly adored and are often well decorated for it.

Actually, XSX GPU has ~24.2 TFLOPS compute via FP16 rapid pack math and~ 13 TFLOPS equivalent for RT, hence total PR TFLOPS should be 37.2 TFLOPS.

What i find interesting is microsoft letting journalists get to grips with the system so early. The modular design says to me that the console was rushed and this enabled them to change the internals at any time. It could also mean that the console can be upgraded by gamers by simply replacing a part internally. Never has this ever worked in the past, so will be interesting to see what they do. I must respect microsoft for pushing the boat out with the specs, because they are truly next gen and not a few years behind pc, which is usually the case.

I honestly do not understand MS giving hands on events for a product that is not releasing until October at the earliest. Minimum 7 months away. They've blown they're load now they're just going to go from hard to semi to flaccid and uninterested come Holiday period.
Can you imagine Apple letting journos go hands on with iPhone 14 and then not releasing for another 8 months? Yeah, me neither.

An image of the box would be fine for now to build anticipation. I suspect series X will launch in September. That is when sony will push out their information and effectively make everyone wait for ps5, which will probably come out in march 2021 at 14tf. Sony has the best run any one has ever had in terms of exclusives. Not even nintendo has come close.

Xbox hardware looks pretty impressive. I even think that the form factor is a good choice. If you can put it on the side as they claim, it might fit in more spaces. The problem is: with all that new, impressive technology, you can notice the total lack of new titles shown so far. Those new studios won't output anything for years maybe. They also have real problems with RT. If you watch the other video (not DF), you can see the guy walks around in the non-RT version of Minecraft and stops to switch to RT, then just moves a bit around. The framerate dips a lot. When he starts walking around, they edit it with the "tech preview" version provided by MS. Apart from RT, Minecraft should run on every toothbrush out there (and its their own game) so it's because of RT.

Doing a new console reveal at the height of a pandemic just makes you look like a dick. Microsoft could have a technical blow out through Digital Foundry because they had already revealed. There's no good way for Sony to do a reveal event right now.
We don't know exactly when Sony originally planned their reveal event, but it's a pretty safe bet that we won't see anything for 2 or 3 months now. Not until Covid-19 is dying down in the west.
But you know what, it doesn't really matter. June/July for a big bang full release (i.e. full spec + price + date + games) rather than a couple of months of drip feeding and building hype will still work. Summer is when they'll start needing to take preorders.
Focus right now has to be about securing the supply chain and production capacity. Fortunately things are already dying down in Asia which is a month or two ahead of the West in terms of impact of the virus.

I believe they are doing this, because the hardware is not that important anymore...so why keep it secret? The thing that will matters are the games and that part is where they lacking and thats what they want to keep secret for a while (i think). PSNow is getting better every month, so Sony is really catching up with new games now and that can definitely hurt Gamepass in the future. Gamepass is great and i sometimes use it on my pc, but it's not difficult for PlayStation to get exact same content as Gamepass (- Xbox exclusives). If PSNow receives more japans games, same third party, indies and their own first party titels after months, i think there is a change that PSNow can be a way better service.

More like the whole enchilada. Whatever strategy Sony has to reveal the PS5, it really has been poorly executed. The Team with Jack Tretton, Shu, Andrew House, and Mark Cerny had their shit together in 2013.
This current regime with, Shuhei Yoshida and Jim Ryan seem out of touch with appeasing their millions of fans when it comes to Hardware. I don't know whom is calling the shots at Sony right now, but everything feels a lot different than 2013s announcement where we had a reveal already.
I like what Microsoft is doing at the moment. They have engineered an amazing console and they absolutely get what their fans want. That's what I want to see from Sony as well, because Microsoft has their shit together while Sony is still smug. They have showcased their goods to the fans and this is what the fans want. I think that ms will start to show games around June (when e3 would have happened). Some of the studios they have acquired were working on something before they have joined ms, so not all projects will have to be started from scratch. We can expect new forza, forza horizon, halo and maybe some games from rare at launch, probably enhanced flight simulator as well (which is completely not my type of game). I am not sure if the new hellblade will be ready for launch.

The reason i believe for the 25TF is that normal calculations are 32bit in it's 12TF mode, for RayTracing the calculations can be done in 16bit and thus 2 calculations can be done at once thus the 25TF number appears, it's called Rapid Packed Math i think and the PS Pro had it aswell. So it's not like it can operate in this mode for everything but only for select things, which in this case is RayTracing.

Here is my take on github based on Sony patent on BC boost mode .
1)BC boost mode on ps4 pro:
Disables cu : 18 cu(ps4 cu) at 940 mhz (native clock of ps4 pro)
2)Bc boost mode on ps5 (github):
Disables cu: 36 cu (ps4 pro cu) at 2ghz (native clock of ps5)
vrs and RT and 16 CU were disabled for this test as they are not needed for boost mode BC regression test .

They will likely release something similar for ps5 but I'm pumped for more info from both
But the raytracing is done by fixed function units and not by the shaders, theres no real relation to RPM.
