I'm guessing it will still be far cheaper to target around 100 GB for initial release and then included additional content as some kind of optional (if you want the higher quality textures, sounds etc) day one patch.
The patent linked above seems to be for something unrelated to PlayStation, but some children's educational toy.
I just love game cartridges in general, though. It's a shame they couldn't scale up in capacity and scale down in price to match optical discs.

I am assuming their old api is doing about 5 GB in about 5-6 seconds for the instant resume which be using whatever apis and methods MS had available, which is 1 GBs real world +/- whatever...ballpark.
The windows type IO drivers and file system is slow as hell, I am sure they will improve, but for now the difference is quite stark yes as Ps5 has been designed with this MAIN purpose almost and it shows. Maybe MS will bring out the new I/O and disk partition thing soon....I dont know but I have read about 100 GB and velocity enough times already so something is rumbling.....lol
Dont get me so wrong, I want XSX to be streaming better, we want 3rd party to adopt this more, shit will look better, to hell with the master race
Going back to the Epic demo, they used Ps5 because it is better than PC and XSX at this function, Tim Sweny said ps5 was better than PC when challenged about a 24 GBs SSD....

Agreed, they have already stated they are 100% on track for release this holiday and I have already been seeing commercials online for the June 4th event (that got postponed), so they wouldn't be throwing all this marketing money right now into something that is delayed until next year...based on that getting removed from the page I have a good feeling when they do have the event (hopefully next week) we will get a more solid release date of the console. It also makes me wonder if they are going to mention a price since they have talked so much about the price possibilities lately.

So it is 0.27gb/s for loading The Cave + (3x factor SFS Magic) = 0.81gb/s

You do realize that you are saving a new Ori instance during the process of loading The Cave right? There's also the process of getting the 360 environment up and running. This is why Hellblade loads quicker than State of Decay, because it is only saving an instance of The Cave.
There's no concrete data to be revealed here, only a fool would think otherwise.

Tbh, i don't blame them. Cerny did a poor job showcasing the tech. Even i didn't get it until weeks after the reveal. These pc guys have grown up in an era where pcs were simply better than consoles in every way. I still remember the chest beating over crysis even though you had to spend well over a thousand to get it to run at a decent framerate.
If you are willing to spend thousands, pcs will always offer better performance.

Also look at the response time 0.8 ms, its called latency. And there you have it, when 30 GBs does not mean 30 GBs.

I know the use of the CPU can be high just reading but know it is one thing other is see it in action ... that is Threadripper without decompress the data.
Good luck dreaming in short term trying to decompress using that bandwidth with zlib,bcPack or Kraken.
