Just pointing out that it's kind of embarrassing to compare a 2 minute commercial to a more typical full length reveal/showcase. With the way some here follow the social media metrics, I'd think they'd be too busy keeping up with the Kardashians rather than gaming. You should see the amount of likes/views they get.
Are you really trying to compare this console reveal to the universally panned Xbox show? In my opinion this was the worst console reveal in history. How many of the games shown are even launch games. It was bad and that is not just my bias showing.

Why I think the event deserves 10/10?
Well, going to the event I only expected to like around 2-3 games max, and I was amazed by so many interesting titles with original ideas! Most PS5 only games were native 4K, and looked very impressive. Let's get into them:
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales (PS5 Exclusive, PS Studios)
90% interest. Looks wonderful in native 4K, like all (most?) others shown. Liked the prior game, and this is most likely a spin-off like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online
0% interest. I rate it already as 4/10, one of the shittiest open world car driving, on foot gameplay animation. The game has everything, that's why most kids love it, but it's like cheap, low budget furniture store that has shit racing and driving, shit gun fight, shit pool and arcade games, shit flight. Rockstar is great with narrative although the story as I finished it has plenty of cringy, cheap jokes. I liked the GTA4 story and protagonist much, much more, probably all the previous ones in that regard.
Project Athia (PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)
100% interest. Looks like a pure potential of what to expect from a worthy PS5 next gen game. The gameplay visuals, although stunning looking, had the assets that are slightly rough and might leverage UE5 later on.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (PS5 Exclusive, PS Studios)
100% interest. The game looks CGI! Wonderful, lots of chaos, amazing visuals and the regular interesting gameplay and story-telling.
Stray (PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)
80% interest. This game looks strange, not sure but gives me strange feelings like Limbo game and Journey, and seems to have something creative behind it.
Returnal (PS5 Exclusive, PS Studios)
70% interest. Horror games aren't my type, but looks action horror which is not bad to try, and I'm all in for some sci-fi shit.
Destruction AllStars (PS5 Exclusive, PS Studios)
100% interest. Wonderful game! Brings back memories of Twisted Metal and Destruction Derby back in PS1, with a flavor of Fortnite-like, and Rocket League. I think this will potentially be Sony's next big thing. Detailed destruction, on-foot interaction when your car destroyed so you can pick up another car. Lots of potential customization both visually and tactically!
Sackboy A Big Adventure (PS5 Exclusive, PS Studios)
100% interest. Loved and bought all LittleBigPlanet games and spent endless ours building things there! Would love more Sackboy! Glad Sony went smart here and didn't let him disappear with the likes of LBP games on hold right now after Dreams.
Oddworld Soulstorm (PS4/PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)
70% interest. Mostly for nostalgia, I remember how creepy it was during the PS1 era, found in the demo free disk inside PS1. Puzzle solving and funny themed.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits (PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)
100% interest. MAN! This game looks insanely good! One of the best games shown in the reveal so far! Can't wait to dive into it's charming world! Rivals Ratchet and Clank in terms of CGI quality graphics.
Goodbye Volcano High (PS4/PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)
50% interest. Looks strange, gives me Life is Strange vibe, and I love that one a lot. Still not sure about it, it's not clear enough.
GhostWire: Tokyo (PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)
60% interest. I'm not into horror games that much, but this looks like action and fun, might give it a try.
JETT: The Far Shore (PS4/PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)
70% interest. Strange looking game, but I'm into space and exploration. Small game as it looks, but seems like a good one.
Godfall (PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)
70% interest. Looks like a good game overall, interesting fight styles. Might give it a try.
NBA 2K21
0% interest. Let's skip this, I'm a football man (AKA soccer). Used to enjoy some baseball and other sports during PS1 era and before, but not much now.
Gran Turismo 7 (PS5 Exclusive, PS Studios)
100% interest. Finally, a complete version after years. Not into circuit racing but won't heart to play some of the most played car games in my childhood and through the years. There is some slight ladder effect in some very few parts of the trailer, probably for being pre-alpha? Not sure, but better anti-aliasing would help.
Solar Ash (PS4/PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)
60% interest. Looks like a nice game, not sure though. Might pick it up and try it.
Demon's Souls (PS5 Exclusive, PS Studios)
50% interest. Looks great, but I'm not a souls fan. Might give it a try.
Resident Evil Village
0% interest. Looks like a good game, but not for me.
DEATHLOOP (PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)
90% interest. Looks like a wonderful, fancy shooting game with lots of challenging and punishing consequences. I'll get it!
Little Devil Inside (PS4/PS5 Timed Console Exclusive, Available on PC)
90% interest. Looks very intriguing! Would love to try it out!
Horizon Forbidden West (PS5 Exclusive, PS Studios)
100% interest. Preordering the most expensive digital copy available! One of my favorites!

0% interest. SKIP.
Astro's Playroom (PS5 Exclusive, PS Studios)
100% interest. Gonna preorder it when available and then play the older VR version on the next PSVR2!

10% interest. The last game was shit with insanely stupid AI. So far this doesn't look good enough.

Then comes the console and accessories reveal! I was shocked! Wonderful, sleek, thin design! Very futuristic, didn't see it coming! I would say the design deserves around 9/10 overall, I love it! Gonna get all those accessories, especially the Pulse 3D wireless headset!
This is all reflective of my own flavors/opinions. I hope it wasn't too long.

Personally in todays age I think views/likes is a very good indicator on how well the masses like something.
Even if its something I really dont like like the family you mentioned.

The digital version won't make much sense if you have a PS4 disk library, (unless sony allowed some type of tradein to convert physical to digital. )
I do like the digital as a secondary console if you are sharing the digital content with someone else.
The one thing I am interested to see is the back of the unit. Sony did not show it for a reason. It may be because of the PSVR2 connection or some other device connection not yet announced.

Right now every video on the channel is 4k, even GT7(someone complained about it being lower). Watching them on a 4k tv, it's a crime how the streaming didn't do any justice to these games.

Given the population of the world, even just the US population, views/likes don't mean much in regards to the masses. Can be a good indicator that you have a loyal base of support, but doesn't indicate much more than that unless you have billions of views. We know there are 100m PS4 owners in the wild, it appears some of them like to watch videos and follow Sony platforms on social media.

I have rewatched several of those videos on an OLED and for people saying they didn't see next gen games I think they need their eyes checked.
Ratchet looked stellar especially with all the particle effects going on.
The show left me wanting more.

there is no doubt that some of it is disingenuous but i do see how someone can look at several indie and third party games on the show and come away with that impression. Having the stream be 1080p was also dumb especially when all of your trailers are 4k. they say first impression is the last impression and a lot of people wont bother looking at 4k versions after watching those awful youtube and twitch streams. ratchet simply didnt look as good as that gif in that stream. this also casts doubt on the lockhart being an effective next gen console at only 1080p. it simply wont look as good at lower resolutions.
however, the biggest problem is that they werent able to show off the CPU and SSD upgrades. To me, they are the gen's biggest leaps. Ratchet was the only game that showed off what the ssd can do but because it was the only game doing that it came off as gimmicky. They needed gameplay demos that showcased features that simply couldnt be done on the ps4. you do that and no one in their right mind will doubt next gen.
i was looking at the underwater scenes in horizon, and there is an entire ecosystem here. birds drop into the ocean to feed. fish seem to have their own eco system. the world, at least underwater, seems to be alive. thats what the cpu can bring to next gen. they shouldve done a better job showcasing this.
in spiderman's trailer, you can see the NPCs behaving rather realistically. thats another cpu upgrade but you really have to look to find this stuff in both games. the entire point of these trailers is to showcase their features, not hide them.
in demon souls, you can see the fog get dissipated by the dragon flying above if that is indeed realtime. that could open up a lot of gameplay possibilities.
i suspect when the demos finally come out, people will begin to come around.

I swear the first time I saw R&C sequel during the presentation I thought 'C'mon, that looks the same as PS4'. Yes, streaming quality was that bad. Anyone who hasn't rewatched the 4k videos, do yourself a favor and go for them.

There are two different terms sample and population one is the whole set and the other is a part of the set... Views and likes are a very good sample of the population... You have millions of users, of your brand and people from the "enemy brand" and "casuals", if you can get to the point where your likes exceed the dislikes by a "big" margin than you know you are safe and you have done a good job fulfilling the expectations of the people watching.
The first Xbox stream of the past month reached a point where the dislikes where bigger than the likes, and that was an event full of Xbox fans... they took that video down and reuploaded for better quality.

this is one of the better console reveals. there were literally dozens of games, more than half of them exclusives. they showed off spiderman, project antifa, ratchet, demon, gt7, horizon and re8. those are big AAA games. now they didnt do a particularly good job showing them off, but any conference that shows off that many games is by default a good conference.
its by no means an all time great conference. but it definitely had the potential to be.
i agree that the messaging on launch games is a bit muddled. i suspect its because spiderman is the only launch game.

The silence on BC sucks, and not being upfront about Spider man does too, as does exclusivity. It’s not that bad, but nowhere near the pitch perfect PS4 messaging. They’ve left a lot of room for Xbox to win the messaging war

Yeah, I get this. I just think we also have to remember that all of this is behind schedule. We're behind where we "should" be about now. I am sure we'll be getting more of this information fairly soon. And at least now we have a BUNCH of the information that we all wanted. It's started. Now we need to continue to get the information and see how things develop.
I mean, I still have a TON of questions on the XSX side from both a technical and a games perspective. This is simply how it goes leading up to console releases. We'll get there!

Did you read Jim Ryan's reply about BC in the CNET interview? That is a clear mixed/contradictory message after watching and listening to Mark Cerny in Road to PS5 for me!
Like you say PS4 was so simple (barebones even) but clear about everything and now with PS5 it is like they are frightened to death to say anything definitive or even clear anything up when even the hardcore forums are arguing the meaning of everything said.

Spidermans announcement is honestly quite off putting. A simple tweet can clear it up.
But the fact they aren't is making me believe they know it won't please people. Meaning you will be paying a full $60 to get the base game even if you already own it on PS4 just to see the new content.
I hate fortnite it's not a tactical shooter. Once I play a single player game and beat it's straight to the trash.
