He was quite convinced the PS5 was considerably more powerful then it turned out to be.
Still to this day from speaking to him privately I do not believe he intentionally set out to deceive people I think he had bad info from his source and after some recent events with some devs I believe that more then ever today.
I mean, to be fair, the people that questioned him were harassed and banned from the site although they've now turned out correct (not in harassing, in questioning).Yeah, I personally believe he didn't do it intentionally. Seemed like a good person. He can come back although many would rather harass him with that ok, I won't do that and many others as well.
Makes me think, were their bans lifted just for them to wreak havoc here and force everyone to go to PS5/XSX specific threads faster? Its fucking hilarious what @eastwood333 and @Xplainin are trying to do here
Feels like "infamous discord" mission #8746

This tit-for-tat with industry veterans, BGs or VFX, is not good for the site. Those who were wrong, know they were wrong and those who watched and read know what they were watching and reading was wrong. To bring it up every time they post is doing a disservice to those veterans (who are not perfect) or to the rest of the forum.

This seems to get forgotten. No apologies were made, nobody said "oops, my bad" when a big portion of this thread drove people out for questioning the insiders.

I agree 100%Personally, I won't sacrifice my work just for some fame in a forum. Actually, BG's nearly lost his if you've been watching the thread closely as he spilled the right numbers somewhere. He's not an insider, he's a dev, first hand experience.
Anyway, I would rather have them give us more about the games and how they feel about them, and things that don't disturb their NDA. It's just not worth it.
Numbers like 13.8TF could easily be early prototypes with Radeon VII for example, and numbers like 11.6 could be collective overall TF of the GPU/CPU/Tempest/i/o and I've shown them reaching around 12.6TF.
Anyway, that story is now behind us, and I can't see them being aggressive to be harassed that why. That matrix guy is actually not worth mentioning with him outrageously downplaying consoles, the opposite of other insiders/devs.
Nah, he would have to use her for number 3 related subjects. You could of linked the woman with the three boobs, just saying.![]()
There were other users that were just trolling though like that @tflopsmatters person. He basically tried to set everyone's expectations sky high (cause he had a strong feeling that the final numbers would be lower) and then proceeded to trash the systems once the numbers were given.
If MS used SmartShift it could run at faster speeds than it currently does. That's how it works. Why would you not want it?
heat and cooling, potential overheating issues, there are lots of reasons
Would have preferred the box itself in white as well, but ok.
Okay but what would harassing BGs to admit his mistakes solve?I only have issues with the ones that won't admit their mistakes or act like they can never be wrong.
You might be waiting a while then, the 23th doesn’t existIt's getting boring with all the empty talk, they should show something worth of those statements by 23th.
Okay but what would harassing BGs to admit his mistakes solve?
Nothing. So drop it. That's my point. Be annoyed, have issues, but people should drop it.
Nah, he would have to use her for number 3 related subjects.
Boooo. no back triggers, it looks like from that picture. What exactly was the point in releasing a back button attachment so late in PS4's lifespan, if not to include them in PS5 controller, especially seeing how the b.b.a. is apparently widely loved and souled-out?
I know this kind of decision is more than just say 'I want this design' as they need to be sure all kind of users recognizeSo the single difference is the PS5-logo and the white background.

Smartshift solves those problems - it doesn't create them...
SmartShift gives those extra watts to the GPU so that it can work harder and generate more heat to be dissipated by the PC's cooling system.
The Dell G5 15 SE is the first SmartShift laptop on the market, and delivers strong performance for the money. But it runs hot...
I have been surprised with how much RT has been being shown as well so far. To be honest, when I saw the Minecraft demo for XSX I figured 'that's it, we won't be seeing RT hardly at all this generation,' because of the massive performance hit it showed and that hit was hardly a surprise as RT is DEMANDING. But...from what I've read so far, it seems like devs can get some good bang for the buck from RT while taking only about a 10% performance hit. Which appears to be what we're seeing right now. I'm happy with that as it still seems to be letting them hit 4k at at least 30fps. So, ok....and for games where 60fps is needed, take the RT off- fine with me!
I'm just pleasantly surprised that it seems we'll see a lot more of RT in games than I had expected. Again, as long as they don't make games start chugging thru sections of levels, I'm all for it. Can't wait to see more demos and games from both XSX and PS5 so we can see more of what we can expect!
See I think both next-gen consoles are powerful enough to do ray-tracing at NATIVE 4K@60FPS. (I was shocked when I saw ray-traced reflections on Clank while the game was running at native 4K on the PS5. I initially had way lower expectations when it came to ray-tracing for next-gen, but that R&C trailer changed everything for me) The reason I think we’re seeing games run at 30FPS when RT is enabled, is because I don’t think most devs’ game engines are ready for next-gen just yet. You still have devs figuring out the hardware while also building tools for their engines for next-gen. I think in 2-3 years, when game engines evolve and are fully next-gen ready, we’ll start seeing games with ray-traced effects running at 4K@60FPS.Yeah, investing into CBR development surely pays off now more than anyone could've imagine, I just hope it becomes a standard technique, rather than for example cutting out objects from reflections like R&C does. GT7 not only looks better because of that but, also runs at 60FPS, it's a win-win solution.
It all seems pretty simple to me. Both companies come to the same conclusion, but different ways of doing it. Why? With Microsoft, you get a more traditional approach, they don't really care if you're gaming on Series X, Lockheart, or PC, they just want you in the Microsoft ecosystem. Sony on the other hand, especially when it comes to their hardware, built the PS5 not just for next-gen gaming, but for their future PSVR2 headset. There's still some things we don't know about the PS5 hardware (some ways Series X too), but Sony is keeping it close to their chest, because, if I were a betting man, I'd say it has a lot to do with maximizing VR potential. Overall, Microsoft is powerful and traditional approach, while Sony, also powerful, but more bespoke for VR.I have said numerous times that the difference in power isn't really going to be obvious in the image on the screen, but we are talking about subtle differences in the architecture, and from my point of view, it's interesting to see the difference in approach and how that will effect one console against the other.
Basically nitpicking.
tower of power ... dear god, do they have teenagers coming up with these?

Ouch. So indie games won't be taxing enough, but AAA games will be too demanding most of the time for the PS5 to run both GPU and CPU at full speed?
I remember reading Brad Sams talking about this exact thing and he said most devs will chose to push the gpu at full speed and that the CPU side would suffer
Just for you
Look at the FPS at the start of the test, mid point and towards the end.
"Start: circa 75 fps Mid: circa 71fps End: circa 60 fps"

I don't know about this, dude. Consoles take years to develop, and the idea that Sony in response to Series X just decided to ramp up the clocks and do a redesign of the entire cooling system is an enormous stretch. Also, AMD's SmartShift, has already been proven to increase performance. People are missing out on two important things here. First off, the potential on actual game design due to the PS5's SSD and I/O performance is much greater than a higher CU count. Secondly, it's probably a lot to do with VR on why Sony went with their choice of hardware.Nah. Let's be real here.
For whatever reason Sony ended up with a 36 CU GPU. Be that because of back compat or they were looking at launching in 2019.
Because of this they found themselves with a console that was behind the XSX in power levels, and so we're only left with increasing clocks to close the power gap. That led to other issues they needed to solve such as thermal and power.
Nobody in their right mind thinks that Sony went in to this gen with the goal of using variable clocks from the outset.
I think Sony have done a good job to get to where they have.

How is this relevant towards PS customers? Genuine question, I don't understand the significance. Is this to do with the UE5 engine, or in-game deals like HZD outfits for Fortnight etc.
Everything is a console war for you, right? All the posts about there being no epic/ Sony marketing deal look about as silly as the 13 TF talk now. Sure was a lot of FUD in this thread!
I know that this single laptop shouldn’t be an indication of how good smartshift is
