Street Kid. I want to first envy what the Corpos have and then live it up in a second playthrough as Corpo lol
Will probably do majority side quest on 1 playthrough and main story, and then just main stories on the other playthroughs as those that beat it are confirming its pretty short (like 20 hours or so)

I think I'm going Nomad, for the same reason as others have had - I want to work my way into the city and have it be a grand unveil to myself and my character. That just makes the most sense to me.
DLSS 2.0 should have you covered.

Supposedly almost 2x the size of GTA5 city and from the first impressions I read, the intro is roughly 4 hours and then you have free reign of the entire city

Your lifepath you choose determines the start of the game. If you choose Street Kid or Corpo you'll start in the city. City is pretty big and detailed. Has lots of verticality.

A little report of what's happening in the leak/spoiler thread - WITH ZERO SPOILERS
I think some people are curious but don't want to go in there. So here is a little update and I promise not to spoil anything at all.
Most of the leaked footage is from the base PS4 or XB1 and looks very low quality ( the quality of the stream/video recording ). But that's not the only thing that's low quality. It's buggy and overall looks pretty rough on BASE consoles. There's a lot of pop-in and LOD switching taking too long to happen so it tends to be happening right in front of you. This is especially bad while driving. This is all before the day one patch but it's going to have to be one hell of a patch to get base consoles up to snuff IMO. It's my belief that many of these issues are caused be the game not being on an SSD.
If your console doesn't have an SSD, maybe get one before playing this game. I think we'll see many comparison vids soon of BASE consoles with and without SSD where the LOD and pop-in is very different between the two. Just my prediction.
There has been some very clear footage of the game running on the PS5 - and it looks great. It's an unlocked framerate that MOSTLY stays at 60fps. So yes, there does seem to be "Performance/Quality" modes. It looks amazing IMO and very very playable. I've seen it crash a few times though. It already looks very enjoyable to play and this is BEFORE the day one patch and before the next gen patch. No worries if you're about to play this on PS5, IMO.
Honestly there hasn't been much in that thread that I would consider to be spoilers. There's been no story spoilers, no cutscene footage, no story footage. It's been 99% freeroam from very very early in the game.
The only things that have been posted that are a bit spoliery would be a couple of the sex scenes. I didn't watch them but the impressions were that the first one was cheesy and everyone laughed at it but the second one was HOT. Much much better.
Aside from all that, there is a LOT of concern trolling happening in that thread. People posting short vids showcasing bugs. Predicting that the sky is falling. There was even some clown in there taking footage from a low quality stream, ZOOMING IN on an NPC, then taking a screenshot of that with his phone and then comparing THAT image with a high quality cut-scene pic of Horizon Zero dawn. Yeah.
There is also some footage of some of the enemies being bullet sponges. I'm not sure if this is a real issue or simply a byproduct of this being an RPG after-all and so your stats are weak in the beginning.
And MOST of the leaked clips have already been taken down so it's a thread of mostly broken links.
You're not missing anything by not going into that thread and I commend you for being strong and completely avoiding it.

Thank you for the update. I think it'll be interesting to see how much the day one patch improves (or doesn't improve) things for the base consoles.
I believe that it is very important that the base consoles perform well - or at least at an acceptable level. I believe the game got its latest delay due to more work needing to be done for the console versions so maybe there is still hope with regards to that.

I really hope so. If the game launches and it's not massively fixed by the day one patch, there's going to be an uproar by base console players IMO. Pre- day one patch .... it's really got problems.
Also, if a reviewer is reviewing the game while playing on a base console, they may give a very different review than someone playing on a PS5 or PC.
We'll know in a few hours when the reviews start coming out. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the update. Was for sure curious but there was no way i was going in there lol. The concern seems a bit premature since everyone knows there's a large patch coming.

the only negatives I have heard are that the side quest management system is less than ideal and gunplay isnt as exciting as a typical fps

I don’t think this is actually true? Even from what we’ve seen of the early ps4 vs ps5 footage the ps5 runs it far better.

I do worry about how only a limited number of reviewers have received review copies. Not to mention how rough the game is on base consoles pre-patch. On one hand the the impressions from 16 hours previews were all great, and there's been some outspoken people who got their copies early, who have been saying aside from the bugs, the game is awesome. But I dunno. I'm sure the game itself will be the tits, but there are so many damn red flags all pointing toward this game not being ready for release. It really sounds like it needed another few months in the oven.

I’m really unnecessarily concerned about which life path to do lol. Like all of them have their strengths - closest to my actual life would be street kid, but then I kinda wanna work from the inside via Corpo but then I wanna come into Night City and see it for the first time as the character via nomad. I RARELY replay video games so I’m a little torn. 20 hours isn’t too bad though if that’s the length, like I could manageably replay that.

Well I do know from the leaks the next gen consoles playing it in bc mode actually look A LOT better. I don’t know why - the base consoles have a lot of pop in and stuff.

Nomad is the only one that's kinda out there, imo. They look like "cyberpunk hippies", so I cant imagine a Nomad wanting to be in touch with gangs in Night City and take down Arasaka.
