Good luck. When I tried to get one on Amazon on Friday they were already sold out thanks to scalpers. I went direct through WD, got it for 10% off and had it the next day. But thanks to Cerny's Tweet the bots are now hitting WDs site direct.

It's not even live yet, it's in beta. Maybe you should wait until the feature is actually available before you start crying about how they aren't telling you exactly which drive to get. There will be a list.

They have an official statement on their website saying we give you the specs but don’t speak to us if a drive meeting the specs doesn’t work. That will not change after the feature is “actually available “.

I have a 2tb wd black in an external usb 3.0 hub and I find transferring games between is manageable. I have quite a fair amount of games on both . As a casual player I think I will wait to these come down in price , I play one game at a time so I don’t mind only having a handful of come on system storage at a time mainly the ps5 one.

Pretty much my mindset as well. Their NVMe may be completely fine, but after years of subpar drives, I'd rather give my money to Western Digital who have always had solid products.

lol they've been brilliant for years. of course console owners might not be too familiar with them but for PC owners they are known as a good reputable brand. most of my drives are WD. can't go wrong with them.

I think this actually needed its own thread more so than those other ones because it is coming straight from the PS5 architect himself. Weren't there a lot of concerns about which drive to get?

I'd pull it now. Scalpers are already targeting those drives. By the time the beta is over you'll be paying $1000 for a 1Tb from some Sneaker Baron.

I'm not buying one until I need it. I have a feeling if scalpers buy these the scalping will be short lived. People are willing to pay high prices for a GPU or a console because they are needed to play modern games. Extra storage is a luxury and not required to actually play the games.

I’ll pick up a 1tb SSD once I really need it, probably sometime next year. Other than COD and maybe Hitman 3 (including all the DLC), I haven’t really had any concerns with space. I generally have 5/6 games ready to play because any more than that is an unnecessary distraction.

I wouldn't freak out about the NVMEs that much. It definitely won't be a PS5 like shortage.

Reminds me of the time when people said the PS5 stand would be difficult for some people. I know this drive is a little more complicated than that but it's still easy to do.
