Can we leave the Twitter warriors on Twitter?
Buy it on Amazon USA, pay in US dollars let it ship over to Australia, problem solved.$700 aud for that one…..and without a heatsink
That’s almost the price of the console
He seems like a genuinely nice guy.
Good luck. When I tried to get one on Amazon on Friday they were already sold out thanks to scalpers. I went direct through WD, got it for 10% off and had it the next day. But thanks to Cerny's Tweet the bots are now hitting WDs site direct.Buy it on Amazon USA, pay in US dollars let it ship over to Australia, problem solved.

Relax, this is just an ironic answer to tom warren

They have an official statement on their website saying we give you the specs but don’t speak to us if a drive meeting the specs doesn’t work. That will not change after the feature is “actually available “.It's not even live yet, it's in beta. Maybe you should wait until the feature is actually available before you start crying about how they aren't telling you exactly which drive to get. There will be a list.

The list is useless if I’m basically playing Russian roulette regardless of the list. What about the list?
Obviously not Seagate. They are known for high failure rates.![]()
The first Cerny approved drive and then followed by FireCuda 530. Now you know which ones to get...

High failure rate for normal hard drives. So I wouldn't buy their NVME drives either.High failure rates in NVMe drives?
Why not?Did this need its own thread?
That makes no sense.High failure rate for normal hard drives. So I wouldn't buy their NVME drives either.
We might also need a list of nvme's to stay away from because of things like this... (could happen even on Gen4 drives)The list would obviously only contain drives confirmed to be working properly.

got a 2TB WD Black NVME in my PC. it's a solid choice.
lol they've been brilliant for years. of course console owners might not be too familiar with them but for PC owners they are known as a good reputable brand. most of my drives are WD. can't go wrong with them.
I'm guessing you don't have COD installedMy PS5 SSD has like 400GB left. What the fuck are you filling your storage up with?
FFVII Remake is like 90GB by itself. My PS5 SSD has like 400GB left. What the fuck are you filling your storage up with?
There are already three or more other threads about PS5 SSD expansion drives. Why not put it in one of those? Since we like to consolidate things here, this would seem a good candidate, the exciting nature of SSD expansion notwithstanding. Why not?
When was this? I have lived through every console gaming generation and I must have missed it.I remember when console gaming was kinda cheap.

Why am I not surprised?
And people really need to stop scaring people into thinking that it's an almost impossible task to do. Changing out the NVME is a relatively simple task for most people.
I think this actually needed its own thread more so than those other ones because it is coming straight from the PS5 architect himself. Weren't there a lot of concerns about which drive to get? There are already three or more other threads about PS5 SSD expansion drives. Why not put it in one of those? I'll pull the trigger when the beta testing is over. 1tb will cover me no problem.

WD Black SN850 Heatsink 1TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD/Solid State Drive PC/PS5
Buy from Scan - 1TB WD Black SN850 Heatsink, M.2 (2280) PCIe 4.0 (x4) NVMe SSD, 3D-NAND, 7,000MB/s Read, 5,300MB/s Writewww.scan.co.uk
Been out of the loop on the PS5 storage upgrades.
Did Sony open up/send power to the SSD/NVE slot for everyone so we can upgrade storage? I enrolled in their beta testing program but never heard
anything back.
Thanks!
I'm not buying one until I need it. I have a feeling if scalpers buy these the scalping will be short lived. People are willing to pay high prices for a GPU or a console because they are needed to play modern games. Extra storage is a luxury and not required to actually play the games.I'd pull it now. Scalpers are already targeting those drives. By the time the beta is over you'll be paying $1000 for a 1Tb from some Sneaker Baron.

Scalpers are buying up ANYTHING connected to the PS5. Even accessories like controllers and the controller charging station. Hell even the fucking media remote. You might not need it right now, but I'd buy it while you can so you have it when you need it. Otherwise you'll be starting a thread here complaining about not being able to find one.
I promise if I don't get one I will not start a thread and complain. If you ever see me do it, call me out on it.Scalpers are buying up ANYTHING connected to the PS5. Going through twitter comments and some of the "it's too hard" comments here on Gaf - I think this is pretty damn funny - and I'm a guy in my late 30's. Guess you'd have to be one of the "it's too hard" guys not to think it's funny? Are you 12?
