Scam Citizen passes half a billion dollars and still no launch.

From someone who has been following the development on this game, its still years away. So yeah the game will keep triggering many of you for a long time yet.
How many years? 20? It will never release in a complete form, it will while people fund it be in a perpetual state of development but some people are fine with that apparently.

Perhaps that's exactly what needs to be done. Is it possible there could be serious legal issues at play here?
No because they keep updating it and showing what they're doing and people who are playing this grand experiment seem to be having the time of their lives. Is it what us regular people want? Hell no. But what is there is something that isn't being done before. The scale and universe along with planets and individual gravity both in the worlds and in the space ship is just jaw dropping with how much shit is going on.

You can actually play the game now. It’s pretty good. Not finished, but definitely playable and possible to have fun with.

I see.

Of course, even the specter of impropriety couple tumble a house of cards.

The product they have is making beaucoup bank. Greed dictates status quo. I predict no substantive change in production until the inflow of cash slows.

I don’t know what a leak would give you as they release playable alpha builds.

The only thing that would be interesting to me would be the financials. What money has gone where and how much has Chris and his wife and his brother taken for themselves.
Yea that's what I mean, I am interested in a leak of just what they spend time/money on. That is just an unreal amount of money so there have to be some good stories.

When you say no launch did you mean

Tried it about 6 times now and got as far as the elevator ( once ) before it simply crashed to desktop.

Performance is incredibly bad as well ( 12900k / 4090 / 32GB ram )

I remember there was a moment in 2015 when I thought to myself: Should I buy Star Citizen or Elite Dangerous? Elite seems kinda cool right now, but SC is going to be AMAZING in like two years. I don’t want to commit myself to Elite and waste time with it since obviously SC is going to be so much better and have so much more content right around the corner…

Anyway, I spent $40 on SC and I have maybe played it a total of 5 hours.

Eagerly awaiting the announcement that they're moving to Unreal Engine 5 and will be now at least another 3yrs before launch....Or however long it takes to buy an Island in the Pacific for CEO Chris Robert, with no extradition treaty to the US, for running a Ponzi scheme.

Getting around 30f-50fps on this shite before it crashes.

Managed to fix the other crashes as it was looking for a page file - which I had turned off - Seems to be the only software to require it

Did you install on a SSD?

I low-key want this to never launch. It's like a social experiment to see how long and how much money idiots are willing to part with.

Imagine I started funding this in 2012 I would have been a college student now I'm in my thirties with a kid and by the time it actually launched he'd probably have more interest in playing it then me lmao.

It's most likely compiling shaders.
I have almost the same config as you (just my CPU is a 13700K) and I had to wait something like 25 minutes for the shaders to build to finally play without stutters.

This is a scam, right?

Its a money making scheme, but not really exactly a "scam". An actual game is under development, is playable, and is given constant updates and public facing feedback. But the finical management behind the whole thing? Sure seems like an intentional scam to funnel money into a few peoples pockets.

Well that would be good if I could even get 25 minutes of gameplay out of it.

lol - Analysing the latest crash shows me that 32GB isn't enough.

Is out of system memory: Yes
- Out of system memory message: Out of system memory. Failed to allocate 16777215.9 TB (18446744073709551615).
Is out of video memory: No

It's only playable in the technical sense of the word. I heard you need a PC with 16,000,000 TB of ram to run it well

Remember when we were supposed to play this in 2014? Me neither 👀
2016 at the latest. After that, "things become stale" according to an early Chris Roberts' statement about development.
Also, for a brief window of time, and according to their original terms, you were entitled a refund (got mine, no support to such a crowdfunding scam!). They changed that term later on, of course.

So I know discussing this game causing a bit of controversy with people but half a billion dollars and still it hasn't really been launched.

The question now is. Which will launch first half life 3 or this 🤣
I still don't understand why it needs to launch? So you can criticize that it's not finished like Cyberpunk?

This is what I'm expecting as well. Last time I tried it on a very powerful machine I had to quit playing almost immediately because the 15fps was making me sick to my stomach. I bet they'll "transition" to ue5 next year or year after to keep the scam rolling and prevent release on purpose.

Pretty sure they will focus their game on a marketplace for starship NFT in the future. This is a perfect game for NFT trading honestly.
