you literally can't make this shit up
Well, there you have it, it's day one on gamepass so it doesn't matter.
you literally can't make this shit up
I don't think anyone is defending it as a decision to not have a 60 FPS mode, some folks are saying they prefer higher quality 30 FPS modes anyway, but most, everyone, is calling them out for not having a 60 FPS mode at launch.
I do believe a lot of people tried to warn everyone that gamepass and by extension Microsoft were going to be cancerous to game development. Well, here we are. It’s only going to get worse if you keep supporting “the best deal in gaming”
Just wanted to be clearerWhat they are saying is bullshit, game doesn't look even remotely good enough to explain 30fps lock, it's purely devs incompetence.
Even though Starfield does have shooting it’s still a fairly slow RPG, might even have third person camera as default setting going by trailers, won’t be optimal but could still play fairly okay in 30fps.Xbox/Bethesda's Marketing/ PR Right Now looking at Starfield:

it will not matter. I have heard Jezz (Xbox analyst) Corden say that Starfield should have a 60FPS mode.Even though Starfield does have shooting it’s still a fairly slow RPG, might even have third person camera as default setting going by trailers, won’t be optimal but could still play fairly okay in 30fps.
Redfall is a fast first person shooter though, 30fps will be terrible, people don’t know what it’s like if they think it’s fine, there is no masking the stutter in first-person.
Yeah it should have one and I agree that it’ll look bad PR-wise if it don’t at this point, but it’s not catastrophic there.it will not matter. I have heard Jezz (Xbox analyst) Corden say that Starfield should have a 60FPS mode.
at this point is a matter of optics for Xbox.

he is the Xbox Analyst. or so he says. This is on the previous page, if you're really into taking that guys word:
I think you are forgetting the "toxicity Tax": when an exclusive game exists, anything bad is catastrophic.Yeah it should have one and I agree that it’ll look bad PR-wise if it doesn’t at this point, but it’s not catastrophic there.
With Redfall it’s different, it’s going to directly suffer in gameplay because of 30fps, it’s just not enough for the genre anymore. Are there even any other 30fps shooters now?
Imagine when FF16 and Redfall is out and the RPG is 60fps and the shooter is 30fps. The world is turning upside down.
What talk about only having to focus on Xbox? Who has been saying that? What’s disappointing is that for all the talk about how “great” it is that Bethesda only has to focus on Xbox and not PS5 any longer, not having a 60 fps mode for their marquee games when they now can highly optimize for Xbox just doesn’t have good optics at all
Are there any ps5 exclusives without a 60fps mode? I can’t think of any

That’s not true anyway. They also have to support pc. So the person you are referring to must be misinformed.

PS5 exclusives are mostly single player games. The closest thing to coop is demon souls which had coop working on a PS3.What’s disappointing is that for all the talk about how “great” it is that Bethesda only has to focus on Xbox and not PS5 any longer, not having a 60 fps mode for their marquee games when they now can highly optimize for Xbox just doesn’t have good optics at all

If Starfield comes in and is a 30 fps game then yeah, its not a good look considering these are their first two true next gen titles, but I also think that as soon as we see games start to do more with the CPU like the matrix did with its traffic and NPC sims then you'll see this everywhere. on PS5, XSX and XSS. 30 fps with no 60 fps performance modes.
Anyway, i would like to see some more PC benchmarks of the 2080 or 6700xt paired with a decent CPU to say whether or not its an architectural issue with the xsx design. I remember running destiny at 720p 60 fps on my gtx 570 which was roughly on par with the ps4 but bungie never patched in a 60 fps mode on PS4. My CPU was a trashy $100 4 core AMD CPU from 2009 that ran at 2.5 ghz. No multi threading and it was able to run it at 60 as long as i reduced the resolution from 1080p.
Well, they do have it running at native 4k 30 fps dont they. so clearly its not very demanding. Its just that the bottleneck isnt the gpu but either the cpu or their engine.True, but the most demanding games aren’t necessarily MP. Redfall visuals are already scaled down significantly as it doesn’t look next gen or even top tier last gen. They say it will eventually get 60fps, so that’s that, but Starfield is up in the air with rumors saying 30fps only
There’s a lot of stuff going on HFW for instance, Starfield should be able to get a 60fps mode for a similar open world title
How so? According to those same posters in the ABK Approval Watch thread, Redfall is, and has always been, a multiplatform game and it doesn't really count as a title "developed under Microsoft" because it was clearly in development long before Microsoft forced Arkane to cancel the PS5 version. Or, are we changing the narrative so that Redfall is now entirely a Microsoft game, and every aspect of it reflects "Microsoft"?I do believe a lot of people tried to warn everyone that gamepass and by extension Microsoft were going to be cancerous to game development. Well, here we are. It’s only going to get worse if you keep supporting “the best deal in gaming”
P.S Dont forget that Horizon forbidden west's 60 fps mode drops the resolution all the way down to 1800cb which is just 2.8 million pixels.
In this dire time, please check in on your local green rat. Second-class citizens
Who knew this 30fps news would cause this much ruckus. Love to see it
Console players are always second class citizens.

This isn’t really an issue. The game looks great at 60fps and is definitely the preferred mode and looks sharper than what you are trying to suggest
Most would be happy for something similar in Starfield
My point is that its not as simple as turning down resolution to gain framerate like we do on PC. even the best sony developer produced a very grainy and shimmery looking image that took 3 months to fix in its 60 fps mode. And it wasnt even a fully explorable coop world. This isn’t really an issue. The game looks great at 60fps and is definitely the preferred mode and looks sharper than what you are trying to suggest

I love me some LOL reactions but I am not sure if people are mentally prepared for this becoming the norm. Just a few months ago, Gotham Knights was being made fun of. Well, Sony has 12 GaaS games coming out. If Factions is a PS4 game then it might run at 60 fps, but if it has next gen visuals and has PvE raids along with PvP maps then I think they will struggle to get 60 fps working on the PS5.

that's not the point he was making. his point is that the resolution drop needed to reach 60fps on these consoles seems to be extremely drastic, while on PC you do usually not need to drop resolution to such a degree in order to double the framerate
Oof, Bethesda really trying be the next Rareware.
almost all of them have been cross gen.Is Starfield co-op?
It’s not as “simple”, but it was still there and many people played it at 60
Like I said, almost all open world games these days have 60 fps modes
almost all of them have been cross gen.
GTA 6 will not be 60fps, I guarantee it.
The trade off will be it will be the best looking game ever.
We've already seen what GTA 6 looks like. It will most certainly have a 60 FPS mode in the same way that GTA V now offers a 60 FPS mode.almost all of them have been cross gen.

Going from 4k to 1440-1800p isn’t a big deal
I didn't buy a VRR compatible TV and a Series X to play 30fps. It's not a good look no matter how you try to justify it because all you have shown is that good studios make tradeoffs to give us performance and fidelity modes.Well, they do have it running at native 4k 30 fps dont they. so clearly its not very demanding. Its just that the bottleneck isnt the gpu but either the cpu or their engine.
As for starfield vs horizon, horizon has much more going on visually, but bethesda games are a lot more systems driven and they keep track of every object in the memory which means the cpu has to create instances for all those objects. I remember collecting a lot of trash in skyrim and throwing them in the first town right outside my house and it completely tanked the framerate. each pan had its own physics properties and the game just struggled to keep track of it all. This was on PC, but i remember the PS3 0 fps issue was caused by a memory issue as well.
Just two very different games.
P.S Dont forget that Horizon forbidden west's 60 fps mode drops the resolution all the way down to 1800cb which is just 2.8 million pixels. thats way closer to 1080p (2.1 million pixels) than 4kcb which is 4.1 million pixels the 40 fps mode runs at. Their 30 fps version renders 8.2 million pixels without any issues and dropping the resolution by half only netted them 10 fps. something is seriously off with these consoles. Id be curious to see a next gen game like Spiderman 2 tackle 60 fps. Remember, the miles performance rt mode dropped all the way down to 1080p at times even though they said they were targeting 1440p. With Spiderman 2 being next gen only and likely pushing better NPC and traffic simulations, does that mean their performance RT mode would drop to 900p? or would they cancel it altogether?
That's frustrating. I generally choose performance modes over quality specifically for the higher frames. Ehhhh, I'll wait to play this when 60 FPS drops. I've got enough games in my backlog this one can wait
We saw a clearly unfinished early version of GTA6.... thats... not how its going to look when its finished.....We've already seen what GTA 6 looks like. It will most certainly have a 60 FPS mode in the same way that GTA V now offers a 60 FPS mode.
Supporting Gamepass isn't the problem but some blame can be pointed at Microsoft they are creating a low effort environment because no one has actually found success on Xbox Series X/S yet .Fine looking strawman you've got here. Not sure how you're correlating game pass or MS here, the game was given a full calendar year extra over its original projected release date, even.
from native 4K to 50% of 1800p is a big deal.
it's native 4K vs checkerboard 1800p. checkerboard = half resolution + upsampling
so 3840x2160 vs 1600x1800
8,294,400 pixels vs 2,880,000 pixels
Becoming a common trend now to see UE games choke the fuck out of CPU. On top of massive stutters on beefy PCs.As anticipated this has become a shitshow (not only here, but in social media bubble)
And i haven't seen any discussion about what I FEEL could be the root of the problem:
Unreal Engine.
not because is a bad engine, but because if you want to really squeeze all its performance you need to have really geniuses at your studio (Sofware/Graphics engineers/Anime Programmers).

this is why is so important to have proprietary engines fine-tune to make the most for a specific hardware.
It looks great, it’s not a big deal
Kind of weird to see Xbox shills like Colt Eastwood spurn the Redfall thimble of water in the desert that is first party Xbox game releases because of no 60fps. We don't know when that 60fps patch will land and in what state that 60fps mode would be. I assume they're not close if they're not even launching it with a shitty 60fps like many games (recently: Witcher 3 patch on XSX) do. Changing the resolution is like, an .ini thing, it shouldn't be that big of a deal if it was as simple as lowering resolution.
