That's pretty much a new gen system. I'm still in the camp this will be another PS4 Pro but with added diminishing returns.

16GB slightly faster GDDR6 and possibly? a little more DDR4 to free up game RAM
Slightly faster 8c CPU (~upto 3.8Ghz)
GPU best case ~16-18 RDNA 2 equivalent TF or 60-80% above PS5 spec. I'm not convinced they can even hit 2x TF (i.e. 20 TF) within the TDP constraints of a console SoC even at 5nm (120W? 140W? more or less?).
2x SSD so 1.65TB.

If they can include a number of RDNA 3/4 stuff and much stronger RT then it can still be a decent upgrade but the headline numbers might be pretty disappointing. Until/unless new and more solid leaks indicate otherwise.
Almost identical to my guess....

Mark my words PS5 Pro will be far more commercially successful than the PS4 Pro. It has a much higher and tangible value proposition with focus on RT and AI upscaling. I wish I had the discipline to hold off on SM2 until PS5 Pro release but I don't.

This mashine would be worth 800$ for sure and tons of enthusiasts would bite, hoping scpecs are real, they do seem probable but we still got almost 1,5year left, probably over a year to official reveal, that would be really amazing upgrade, similar to what ps4pr0 was to base ps4 so totally justified and worth the price xD
Want. Day 1.
I would buy it day one as well and not think twice about spending $800 on that machine

I don't actually believe those specs though but since it was Zuby thought it was worth the post

I do agree with him they started actual work on this machine early last year as until then it was just thoughts on a drawing board

Yeah the specs are too optimistic sadly I think, dont see sony going for a 72 cu and it being rdna3 would really limit efficiency and thermals. Also 20gb of gddr6x at 320bit....that kind of killed the specs for me. I do really hope they are true and the rdna3 is actually rdna3.5 etc.

if i get minimum 1440p60fps native which is upscaled to 4k, than i will buy it for 699€ but thats the upper limit i would pay

If its a similar leap of ps4 to ps4 pro then wouldnt it not be worth tgr price?

I went from "no way" to "maybe." The only thing stopping me from jumping on board right now is no use for a third PS5 even if it is vroom vroom. Throw in a good trade-in deal and it goes to a "for sure." I have shit willpower when it comes to this stuff.

600 to 800$ is whats to be expected, but its 1,5years away, so who knows how those 800$ will feel by then, and yup, u are gafer, aka u love games, once console is there avaiable to buy and u will see forum posts describing how ppl like/enjoy the new ps5pr0, once u see reviews on youtube u will buy it for 700 or 800€ too, if not at the launch month then soon after, gotta be honest with urself about it, at least i am :>

72 CUs? 60 active, 12 disabled?

I can’t believe 20GB RAM. Is more necessary this time (as opposed to PS4 pro era) due to aimed ray-tracing improvements?

That tweet is from May 2nd, way before the 30 WGP leak.

He's just speculating and basing PS5 Pro on PS4 Pro with doubling CUs.

80CUs total - 72CUs active / 8CUs disabled for yields.
4 Shader Engines total
1 WGP (2CUs) disabled per Shader Engine.

Depends on the person, that machine, with the specs quoted wont have too much trouble running base ps5 games looking like in fidelity mode but with fps of performance mode, if u dont care about it ofc u wont upgrade, but if u do, like many of us, u will upgrade for sure, dunno how much fomo will help but ofc if u know there are 2 different versions of a console, one over 2x more powerful from the other, u will wanna get the stronger one if u can afford it ;D

What is that, they didn't even mention what the guy was talking about in the tweet or did I miss hear something? Twitter people are weird.

Yeah I think it could be more succesful, just depends on price vs the new slim or whatever its called.

I don't believe those specs, I am betting on 54 active CU's. I would like to be wrong though. Either way, Day 1.

On a side but somewhat related note, can you pull an internal M2 SSD (that you install yourself) out of one system and put it another and still access the games/data?

Not sure if this has been posted but kep saying CUs don't need to be disabled here?

Nothing is stopping them except COST!

It's soldered on the board. I mean I doubt it and if it is possible I can't imagine it'll be easy

24TF with 20GB RAM would be an incredibly weak PS6. There's no way it's gonna be that pathetic. It needs to be at the very least a 4x GPU upgrade (i.e. 40TF+) with 24-32GB RAM.

That doesn't mean I think the PS5 Pro will reach 24TF though (but maybe 20GB).

Tom Henderson did 60 CUs though. So this is still consistent.

The 20gb RAM and its speed is what writing this off as fake for me or at least an uninformed leak. The PS4 pro did not have this big leap in improvement.
PS4 Pro didn’t want to aggressively increase RT perf tho. This could very well be different given the demands of RT.

Sounds like he is strongly suggesting all CU active but who knows

Im hearing it’s impractical because of yields. But if you think about it Cerny probably expects PS5 pro to sell only around 20 millions units in its lifetime. Probably it’s worth discarding the defective chips from a cost perspective than say having 72 CUs (less chip per wafer) on the chip with 12 disabled.

Fair point but at the end of the day this is just a mid-gen bump. Surely the last thing anyone wants is another Series S/X situation of substantial spec differences pissing off devs?

More power and more of everything wouldn’t piss off the devs unless there’s an imposition from Sony to have a list of improvements as checkbox.

That's completely different though. MS released a weaker-than-baseline console that devs have to downgrade their games for. That's never been done before. A mid-gen spec bump is much easier to handle, just bump up the resolution and/or framerate from the baseline. Or don't do anything at all, as I doubt Sony will mandate Pro modes for all games. The Pro will still run them (unlike the XSS which requires specific downgrades to be made).

Yeah those Zuby specs look fake 72 active CU's 🤣...so Sony first party should be getting dev kits soon according to Tom Henderson's early report they should be arriving at first party late summer I'm rooting for a Bungie leak 🤞

Why is this beyond possibility for you?
Because any AI acceleration would obviously be integrated into the RDNA part of the GPU as it would be used for a hypothetical future upscaling method. A seperate AI portion of the SoC would be useless really. A console is not going to handle any tasks that would require it.

It honestly reads like someone wanted to put together a spreadsheet that sounded cool.

I mean, that's the expectation out of Sony I would guess. PS4 Pro / Xbone X were about 20% of sales.

PS5/XSX are better designed, IMO, vs PS4/Xbone so could be even less then the 20%.

This is exactly why Sony has to make the PS5 Pro substantial enough for people to want to purchase it, and I think they will do just that. I don't think Sony would have contemplated releasing the PS5 Pro unless it will meet or exceed the PS4 Pro's 20% total sales numbers.

I still can't help but think that this only a thing because Sony thought that MS were going to be doing the same thing with an upgraded Xbox.

Assuming MS aren't bullshitting about not releasing an upgraded Series X, would, I wonder, Sony have abandoned the project if they'd known....
