That’s not saying much though. What has Sony even released this year? MLB 2023?

Pretty sure we’ve had around 8 first party games from Nintendo thus far, with at least 3 more to come. Not all are great though, but still.
It's really not even close.

No serious prediction has Switch 2 in it. It’s a 2024 product that won’t be talked about likely til 2024. Not to mention, Directs are very focused vehicles of delivery for software information. They don’t talk about new hardware in Directs. They make a bigger deal about hardware announcements and have longer lead times for things like that.

Why are people so confident in F-Zero showing up in this direct? and how do any of y'all know it's gonna be anything good?

gonna be pretty hard to top GX imo

more Mario Wonder and Mario Remake footage and a preview of the new system would be good, though

There was a rumor of a GX port.

Pretty sure the chances of us hearing about that Star Wars Hunters game is pretty high. I don't know why, but I'm looking forward to it. It looks like dumb fun. But I'm also a Star Wars whore so I guess that explains that, lol.

It's basically a 4v4 third person hero shooter. With each character having their own abilities, ultimate, etc. It was originally announced for Switch and mobile. It's available on mobile in some countries right now, but world wide launch hasn't happened yet. There were also rumors that they may be making it for other platforms as well.

Again, nothing SUPER intense or crazy looking, just some easy fun. It was announced to be released in 2023, so I figure the chances of hearing about it here are pretty high. Especially cause of the IP and if they're previewing stuff for the rest of the year.

IF Nintendo is planning on releasing Switch 2 in March 2024 (which I personally think they will) a reveal trailer (or showcase) will happen in the next month or two. And before people say it will cannabalize holiday sales, they did it with the original Switch reveal. Announced October 2016 and launched in March 2017.

Time for everyone to get overly invested in a commercial again. Yay! Snark aside, I don't care too much if there aren't any heavy hitters here (although I do still hold out hope for Prime 4), and I don't expect much in that realm as the Switch winds down. But there can still be fun in smaller and quirkier games as well, so I hope for something surprising.

Only reason I say this is because Engage was supposedly done and held for almost a year. But yeah, it's unlikely.
The rumor mill states FE4 remake is also complete and just waiting. It just seems like an odd situation. I suppose between Triangle Strategy in March and FE Three Hopes in June, perhaps Nintendo decided to delay Engage to give their partners breathing room. But then it just creates a traditional Fire Emblem pileup afterwards if this rumor is true. Personally, it's a bit frustrating for me. I want "a" Fire Emblem to play, but not overly excited about Engage and have heard FE4 is one of the best. I just want to know if it's coming so I can hold off on Engage or if I should just accept Engage as is...

I don’t think that’s comparable since WiiU was tanking at the time. With Switch they’re estimating to sell another 15M by March 2024 (more than WiiU lifetime numbers). They definitely can’t afford to risk it this time and I’d be very very surprised if they do.

So, the current leaks are saying some sort of F-Zero game, as well as a new Donkey Kong? I haven’t heard any “leakers” mention Metroid Prime 4 yet, so it does seem plausible 😭

You can't cannibalize what doesn't exist.

Not that 'cannibalizing' matters much anyways.. Isn't it still money going to the same company at the end of the day?

I had issues with Engage art style and early story but it won me over. Battles are better than ever at least.

This will be a fun watch. Not expecting any Switch 2 news, but maybe one of the games they won't show a platform for or will be cross gen title and release same day on Switch 2 without having the platform mentioned.

Just tease a new SSB game please.
Super Smash Bros? I doubt there will ever be another brand new full flshed out SSB game.

First of all, it's not humanly possible for them to top SSBU. Too many crazy characters and too much content. There is absolutely nothing they can do to top that game.

Second of all Sakurai said he is done with it for real this time

The only thing I see is the same game being re-released on Switch 2 but on steroids with much higher resolution, better online and image quality.

Let's see how that Mario rpg is coming along. But damm, 40 minutes? Either they have tons of new announcements under the hood, or the switch successor is a sure thing.

It does since they’ve announced goals/estimates to shareholders of how much they believe the product will sell.

For all we know ‘Switch 2’ could be another WiiU so it’s not like one product is necessarily a direct substitute for the other.

Someone else will take over. They can't let one of their best selling franchises die like that

Yeah someone probably will, but I just don't see a new SSB game for a very long while. But regardless, there is just too much in that game. How do you top Sora, Sephiroth, Banjo Kazooie? You really don't. They made the impossible possible. The entire game is the ultimate pipedream.

A steroid version will most likely fill in the gap. I really don't see a reason or desire or the need for a brand new game with what SSBU offers.

You don't need the most content in the world or the biggest roster to have the best fighting game. SF6 decreased their roster from SF5 and yet everyone's having far more fun with the former than the latter.

What a second smash needs is a better singleplayer, online that isn't absolute garbage and much much better controls and movement. Rivals of Aether's control is so smooth and responsive that it makes Ult feel clunky and outdated in comparison.

A new direction and artstyle would help too, it's what made Brawl distinctive. Smash Ult visually is a "generic smash game" without much of an interesting memorable visual style to it IMO. Better than Smash 4 on that front, but still not as interesting.

We won't be hearing about Prime 4 until Switch 2 is revealed. Also they have to drop Prime 2 and 3 first, which will likely happen tomorrow.

Smash is a different type of a game though compared to SF6. That game really benefits for having a crazy diversified list of characters to play with or go against. SF6 is a strict 1v1 game with much higher polycount and visual fidelity and more technical gameplay.

SSB is a party game for local play with friends family and as professional and dedicayed eSports tournenaments at EVO. I never had problems with the controls. The online could use a fix yes, but that can easily be fixed on the Switch 2 version of SSBU. It's far from a "true traditional fighting game" it doesn't feature health bars and the way you finish off your opponents is way different.

If there is a new version without the characters from the previous title the fans will be disappointed. Not only will they need to bring them all back but also introduce even more new ones and it's already crazy as it is. There is a reason why there is the the word "Ultimate" in the title because it's the most insane version of the game they ever made.

Hyped. Already bought Mario Wonder and Mario RPG. They have a lot coming that we know about. Probably getting World of Horror in October.

Not yet sold on WarioWare.

Wouldn't shock me to see Splatoon DLC info.
Yeah we are due for more info on the Side Order DLC that was announced a while ago, personally I am really looking forward to that.

Aside from that, I hope to see some JP 3rd party announcements, and more info on that peach game which I think might be really fun. I know more on Mario Wonder will be shown, but I just want that game already and don't want to see anymore spoilers on it lol. I do also hope the DK rumour pans out though, it's been more than enough time for another DK game.
