I decided give the demo a spin (I originally wasn’t going to) and I definitely digging the combat a lot and curious about how other character’s combat style. I also loooooooove it’s rendering style for the visuals…..the art style looks fantastic!

well worth the wait…..now the issues comes that Persona 3 comes out the next day after this game…..fuck me there too many games.
The artstyle and combat is immaculate. I feel like its battle systems are a mixture of Tales, Star Ocean, and White Knight Chronicles. Amped up for the full game.

I got it added and will try it this weekend. It looks good, but I don't know if I can deal with the constant character banter (the dragon seems most annoying). And am concerned with OLED burn-in on the bright UI elements that seem very static.
We shall see though, combat looks fun.

Had some time over my lunch break and tried the story part of the demo.
Pretty crazy to finally play this after so long, though sadly in the almost 7 years since it was first revealed my enjoyment of these games has diminished.

Some overall thoughts:
- The visuals are pretty nice, the environments in particular look great and it also runs smoothly. The image isn't that sharp (is it really just 1080P?) but overall I'd say the presentation is easily the highlight.
- The music is fairly generic but overall nice
- The combat was just ok. I was honestly expecting something a bit more interesting and technical given how Platinum was involved at some point, but at least the story bit of the demo felt very standard. It can be fun but it definitely gets into that button mashy "press X to awesome" realm of games like FFXVI and Tales of Arise.
- There weren't enough cutscenes to really get a grasp of the story, which to me will be the deciding factor in getting this or not. On the surface it looks and sounds painfully generic, and I fucking hate the little dragon already, but I hope there's an interesting plot under all the tired tropes.

I hope you guys just mean music/aesthetic and that's it. I loathed the insanely long tutorial and manual of WKC's ridiculous amount of systems, and I hope no other game attempts to go for what it went for, because the payoff after learning all of what that game had to offer was not really worth it.

Can't wait for the full release of the game. Phantasy Star Online + Final Fantasy in one package. Stages have a nice gameplay loop of Traverse level + Complete Objectives + Beat the Boss more or less. PSO2 Vanilla was so much fun and I'm seeing lots of similarities here. Easy Day 0 for me.

White Knight Chronicles was one of the easiest games I’ve ever played. All you had to do was attack with the knight. I sure hope it’s nothing like that beyond Level-5’s aesthetics, which are always nice.

Just a tip for anyone playing, the last mission, before you talk to the NPC to select the challenge, press 'START' and change your first leader, the game have a list of more chars to you to try.

I tried the main, the dual sword ice guy and the katana sucubus lady. Give a try and make others combinations.

OLED burn-in is mythical horseshit. I’ve played hundreds of hours of Destiny 2 and CP2077 among other games on my C8 OLED and don’t have anything even closely resembling burn-in.

“But rtings.com showed it happens to them!” Yes because their test was to watch nothing but CNN for 16 hours a day for months on end. They also found out that the pixel refresher (anti-burn tech) weren’t working on their sets because it requires the TV to be off/dormant for several hours and it wasn’t running since they were on basically all the time.

Default is 1080p/60. There is also a 4K/30 quality mode on PS5.

I don’t think you were supposed to grasp the story from this demo, just the general structure. This is the same story segment YouTubers got to play a month ago, and they said the entire actual beginning was NDA’d and they couldn’t talk about or show it.

Just gone through the story mode of the demo and really enjoyed it. Art looks fantastic. Exactly what I wanted from it. I enjoyed Tales of Arise (apart from the health sponge enemies in the latter half) but this really nails the feel for me. Not keen on the block and dodge button placements but I'm in for the full game.

What time is it?
Spent some time with the demo (did the tutorial, story mission, and rock golem quest):

+Controls really well.
+Visuals are a treat and it seems to run well.
+Combat is pretty fun
+Demo is super meaty.
+Enemy designs
=Character designs aren't my cup of tea
-I feel like the character art isn't totally in sync with the environments
-Enemies are a tad spongy but I understand why based on the combat system.
-Ally dialog can be trash: It's scary to look up but I can't help it.
-
The deluxe editions appears to have some kind of MTX items in it.

Not something I'll pick up but it seems really solid.

The visuals look very simplistic, like a 1080p PS3 game, especially in Performance mode, but at least the performance itself seems rock solid.

Not my usual cup of tea but may rent it or something later.

I agree, difficulty was never the problem with WKC, it was UI and controls.

For as easy of a game it is, it didn’t need to have so many different systems in it with their own lengthy tutorials.

Played a bit with the demo and...I'm still not sold on it.

Visuals on performance felt flat. Game is blurry and seems to have some sort of low resolution issue? I don't know.

Any chance the demo is an old build?

Game looks stunning at 4K but framerate goes to shit.

Gameplay on story mode felt easy. It's very similar to Tales of Arise. I was expecting something more.

You can't switch between characters on story mode right?

What exactly is the end game on this? I read the main campaign is about 20 h. For a JRPG that's pretty short.

EDIT: Nevermind. End game are quests and raids and building multiple characters. On that I'm sold. Just tell me I can switch characters in story mode and I'm Gucci.

I've finished the story part and also those 3 'end game' quests and I'd say that the demo was pretty fun. Visuals are good (kinda similar to Tales of Arise) though it's a bit of a shame that the 60 fps option locks you to 1080p.

The combat is decent with lots of flashy particle effects. I've played on normal difficulty and some of the enemies, and especially the bosses are a bit too spongy for my taste. I think I've done like 5 'full chain links' on that gollem boss till I managed to defeat it lol and made sure that my team was above 1300 power.

The 'main character' playstyle in the story mode was pretty boring imo, but I've played with both Narmaya and Zeta afterwards while doing those 3 separate 'end game' quests and their skill/combat set seemed way more fun to me. :p

Overall kinda what I expected from all the gameplay footage I've seen. Will pick up the standard edition physical copy as that special and deluxe doesn't seem worth it. Oh and the waifus in the game are pretty well designed so bonus points there. 😏

The combat description would drive me crazy. Arise was ok to start but I felt the game fell off on latter half.

Not sure this one will be in my radar for a while unless PS5 copy drops to like $25. Too many good titles coming out next year.

FFVII Rebirth and Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth certainly have much higher priority and I suspect that’s like 150 hours of gaming between the two.

And that will take me couple of months to get through if I don’t get distracted (fat chance of that).

Hearing the gameplay being just ok makes me think they completely removed Platinum's touch on it and that fucking sucks cuz when the first previews of when PG was involved looked hyped as hell.

Love it. Unlocked all four rewards (1 story, 3 quest). I don’t know who I just played with in matchmaking, but we demolished that Golem boss. I ran with the starting character and used the buff skill that was preset and healed when I could. We were on point with the four person super attack whatever it’s called. I have never once been on the same page with three other people online without any communication at all as I was in this fight. I swear, if enough people actually play the tutorial (which they probably won’t, because “I want it now” society), this game can quickly become a classic. Please learn and understand the 4 person attack and links. It’s not as in depth as an MMO in quests, but just don’t be stupid and use your 4 assigned skills and it can be a great time.

Those weren’t end game quests, they were actually really low level quests. I’m anxious to check out what the endgame offers now after the demo.

Turn up camera sensitivity by 1 notch and turn off blur…you can thank me later 😊

This is incredible. Honestly.
Let’s start with the bad: The visuals, I love it and hate it at the same time. Some characters do not look right to me, but the art style and environments are on another level for me.
Now the good:
Combat with links and SSBA chain burst just felt so satisfying… played almost everyone, but a lot of Siegfried and Narmaya.
Now I’m super excited at the possibility of new characters dropping. Every single character just play so differently, it’s amazing.
Story seems like it could be quite a refreshing take on modern gaming which always strives to be dark and brooding. Pre ordered.

I've already had this game pre-ordered for a couple of months, but I was thinking about downloading the demo until I learned you can't save and carry your progress into the full game. At least that's what I've read I have not actually tried it myself. If that's true that's a amateur move in my opinion. It gives people less incentive to buy the game knowing they'll have to replay everything they've just done all over again. They should have done this like Final Fantasy 16 where you can just pick up right where you left off.

I went from like 10% interest to 25% so I'd call the demo a success. It seems very bland but also fairly polished. The art style is equal parts great and lackluster. Some parts emulate that hand drawn look extremely well and other parts look flat like this is a Vita game. Combat is pretty easy so far but I'm sure that changes.

I'll probably pick this one up on a deep sale. Wasn't sure if I wanted it honestly but it piqued my curiosity a bit. I wish that flying dragon kid would die though. I absolutely hate that anime trope and his voice acting makes me want to die slightly.

Katalina's the coolest character obviously.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Downloaded the demo and gave it a shot. I was already pretty hyped for this game, and I've been following its development for years, so I kind of knew what to expect. The biggest letdown was being locked to 1080p when choosing the 60fps option. Otherwise, the story segment was fun but was hoping it would do more to introduce the characters - hoping the main game has more progression than just "here's your team!".

The "quest" demo I thought was okay, but I can already tell that boss fights are going to be this game's weak link for me personally. Not a huge fan of the "chip away 0.01% of the boss's health bar" thing that's going on here. The build variety seemed pretty solid though - lots of different weapons, skills, characters, etc. to choose from, so that was pretty interesting.

Overall, I dig it.

Wait, what?
Where?

One near to the village in fire, next to the windmill. Almost the edge.

The other near to the last villages, the npc that ask you if you gonna procced to the next map. If you interact with him by accident just select the option to remain in this map. Look for in this area near to those final NPCs in particular.. This last one is very very difficult to beat.

Demo was good but not so good that it's a guaranteed purchase being sandwiched between so many other notable releases. Depends on how long it takes me to finish Infinite Wealth. Will definitely get at some point though.

Only tried a couple but for the characters I did try Io was my favorite. Surprising since most games I don't like playing a caster but I rather enjoyed charging spells and healing with her. The only one I didn't like was the samurai lady. Hoping they add options to reduce the visual effects of party members. Can get rather ridiculous at times.

Played a bit of the demo on my PS4. Definitely still getting the game day one on PC. I did find it kinda hard to see with all the spells and effects everywhere
The characters all have their own unique playstyle and I'm sure the game will only expand on this and their skills.

One of the major negatives I have, unless I missed this in the tutorial, switching targets isn't as fluid as tales games where it pauses the battle an allows you to cycle through mobs.

Anybody else notice horrible ghosting when panning the camera? Motion blur sort of masks it but it’s still visible.

Hopefully this isn’t an issue on the PC version. Wish we’d get some info on the port. I’m expecting the worst to avoid disappointment.

I turned the motion blur off and sped the camera up a notch and noticed no issues at all on ps5.

I did 87998k with Charlotta. My potato girl is broken in this game. I never liked her play style in Versus/Rising because I suck at charge characters, but here she is a monster with an infinite combo chain. And she has Enemy Def Reduction, Atk self-buff, and Team-wide dmg reduction. She is stupidly broken in the right hands.

Just remember demos, especially RPG ones are a snapshot with a fraction of the abilities you will unlock in what will likely be a long as fuck RPG with tons of characters and move versatility.

I had the same thoughts as you. I do think I will sit this one out for a bit though. I have LaD 8 and FFVII-2 coming within a month of each other…. There just isn’t enough time, I shouldn’t even be getting LaD 8 if I’m being honest.

I found a red grave in the story mode demo. Thats was fucking good.
That was a very good little random thing. The world does feel like it rewards exploring down little nooks and crannies - I'm totally sold on the gameplay, just need to finish off some of the games on my backlog as I can't justify buying another game right now.
