Xbox going multiplat is inevitable. It was always going to happen.
Xbox has always been an unwanted console. Xbox 360 was an anomaly, mainly due to PS3’s mistakes. Other than that, Xbox has always been a poor seller.
More so, in totality, Xbox has not been profitable. Buying up big publishers really highlighted to MS how Xbox is such a money pit, hence the decision to go multiplat.
One thing for sure though, MS is definitely not leaving gaming, they see how lucrative the industry is and want a slice of the action. Eventually, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Meta, X, etc will also want a piece of the action.

Xbox has sold around 200mil console man.
Orig Xbox - 26mil
360 -84mil (MS stopped giving numbers in 2014 so who knows what it actually sold in the end)
XB1 - 60mil (that was the last estimate we had not long ago)
Series around 24+mil (according to that thread we just had about 77mil next gen consoles being in the wild)
Xbox isnat as popular as Nintendo or Playstation, but to say Xbox was always a unwanted console, and always been a poor seller, well thsts just nonsense my man.

Even if they only port Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves to PS... what guarantee is there for XB fans that they'll stop with the ports there? NONE.

The folks on twitter you are talking about are the fringe. Most folks who play games on Xbox are nothing like those people. Plenty of Xbox gamers here on GAF who are not like that. I know folks where I work who game on Xbox. Not the same sort at all.

Why are they porting Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves to PS and Nintendo? Because they need money.
Will just these 2 ports solve their money problem? No.
That means they WILL port more games.
And if, hypothetically, those 2 small games do make so much money that it solves all their money problems, then imagine the money Xbox will make by porting their bigger games? Why would Xbox not want to make that money?
Either way, they absolutely will port more games. Pretty much all of them.

Those numbers seem highly unlikely.
Yes, it is an unwanted console. It’s only the US and UK that keeps the console afloat, it’s unpopular and unwanted everywhere else.
But most importantly, it has yet to be profitable for MS if you look at it from the original Xbox to Series X, it has been net negative.

The blowout from this is all MS fault. Lets forget about how they handled the rumors to begin with, being that when you don't snip something like that at the bud it just starts having more children. But its something else that Xbox has been doing for a while. They have nurtured this superfan thing for a while. Dare I say even weaponized them. Guess now they are finding out there is a downside to the strategy of having superfans as the face of your platform.

Apparently he tweeted that the business update was planned since last summer and was targeting march, but when the SoT and Hifi rush rumours popped up they moved it to late february and when people talked about starfield they moved it to next week
This would also be one of the reasons why they rebranded the xbox game pages:

Jez claims it was originally planned for March. Then was planned sooner when the Hi-Fi Rush rumors started. Then again when when the rumors intensified. I’m guessing they are scrambling to make sure they get everything right, so either on Friday or pushed to the week after i would say.
