I remember that race mission
I don’t. The thing that stands out in my memory was that it had great reflections. I don’t know why.

And I think it came out near Max Payne 2. I remember playing them not too far from each other.

I don't own this one yet. I own 2 remastered and Mafia 3. I'll have to give it a try and see if I like It as much as I like the others.

I loved the original. I can’t speak on the remaster, or if the original holds up in 2024.

This thread did make me buy L.A. Noire though. Adding another game I will likely not play, but purchased on sale ($19.99 on ps store).

I picked up L.A. Noire on the PS store during the winter/holiday sale. I hadn't played it since the PS360 days. I enjoy it.

Well why not make it linear instead of putting it in an open world?
So they'd have to design the open city anyway for the game to take place, but you'd have them put invisible walls during the missions to make it appear more linear. How does that improve anything?

I've never played this series. Seeing some positive impressions in here is encouraging.
Then it's a great opportunity to get into it. I'd say the original Mafia is still superior for me, but it's a great remake regardless. If you end up liking it then the second game is also a no-brainer. Just don't make the mistake of expecting something that plays like GTA.

Well it’s an open world game then. Not sure why the person I replied to said it wasn’t.

Depends on your definition. There's a full city since it's a driving game, but it's not designed as your traditional open world with extra content and exploration. It's basically a linear story game taking place in an open city and that's it.

Nice. Been wanting to play this for a long time now. I was put off because the console version was only 30FPS. Anyone know if that’s still the case?

It turned out quite good as a remake. Mostly hits the "as you remember in your head" requirement. Only key miss I suppose is the new Tommy actor doesn't have the charm of the OG.

Mafia 1 is an all-time classic. Remake is also REALLY GOOD (despite some changes that made some people notnliking it).

Mafia 2 is also great.

Just don't expect anything from the garbage and repeat-the-same-thing-over-and-over-and-over Mafia 3. Atmosphere was great, the game, not so much (nicely speaking).

Ive nearly bought this so many times! - Fucking hell gamepass. It is actually too much.

Hopefully I will have completed Octopath Traveller 2 by this date.

I’m kinda shocked. Dude you should definitely check out the trilogy.
I was never huge in the GTA genre. Loved Sleeping Dogs but that was about it. I'll definitely try this out. There's a lot of stuff out there I may like, but was never convinced enough to buy it.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Nice game, kinda short but has a pretty nice story.

It's a good remake too, original is still better imo but this one is great for the modern audiences.

And the good thing is it isnt some major time sink. The first two games can each be finished in 15 hours, maybe even a little less. The third game is much much longer though (and repetitive, but the story, writing, and soundtrack are all top fucking notch)

Mafia 3 is THE one game Im most worried about at this point when it comes to music licenses running out. Shines a huge light onto licensed soundtracks in period piece games and how important they are to the experience. Like I couldnt imagine losing Hendrix's "All Along The Watchtower" that plays during the TITLE SCREEN (best title screen music ever? Quite possibly).

I've seen part 3 on deep sales many times so if I like this one I'll definitely consider it!

Good game, although the original masterpiece is unmatched and this is more of a reimagining than remake.

There is actually another remake of the original game being made (by fans) in the engine of Mafia 2 which is planned to be much more faithful. If they manage to finish it, it could be a better remake than the official one.
