Genesis is actually the only one I've beaten. I did enjoy them all to some extent though.

2 was the best one in my opinion with the first game,a close second.
Overall it's an amazing series and I'm glad to see it's not abandoned.

Well booth are have their strengths and weaknesses. The first feels really unpolished in places but its not overstuffed with unnecessary mechanics like the second. You will probably enjoy booth though personally i prefer the first game (it also has much, much more personality. Mark Hamill is there bringing his A game and i love how War sounds like he is constantly a stray insult away from ripping Someone's foot off and showing it down said persons throat. Death is just dull by comparison.)

I have fond memories of walking around the e3 floor and randomly passing by this game when it first debuted... absolutely loved what I saw and played and loved it when it was eventually released. Haven't played the two newest titles though... #3 and the top down.

The first one is good. The second which I just finished is better. 3 on the list but not yet. For a first time play, I think this is a ridiculously underrated series.

Huh? People love 2 generally but the RPG elements are a mixed back. It’d 3 that’s almost universally panned.

Wish they would remaster the second one again, but this time do it PROPERLY! On console not only is it 30 fps, there's this fucking auto camera setting that can't be turned off which makes it a nauseating experience to play. It's AWFUL! Try playing on an Oled and you will throw up. On PC you can turn it off.

I only played the first and it's an incredible game. Derivative as hell but they nailed it. The dungeons are massive and some of the puzzles really make you stop and think. Great combat, great art style, great set pieces. I always appreciated how fast you can climb. The developers did a great job with keeping things moving.
I never played the sequels but I plan on getting to them someday.

They've plenty of time to re-evaluate what they did before, make the best Darksiders game this time and finally continue the story right after D1 ending. I've high hopes

First one has God of War / Halo 2 style ending. Thats about it.
Part 2 is superior in every way. It kinda ignores the ending of part 1. Which is what most people don’t like.

This is the part where it’s on you to look them up. Look up the following two developers: Gunfire Games and Airship Syndicate.
Most of the devs from Darksiders 1 and 2 split between those two companies. One dev made Darksiders 3 and the other made Darksiders Genesis.
They have both made other good games since then. Some of the other titles they’ve worked on may even surprise you.

Darksiders 1 was a great game that succesfully borrowed mechanics from Zelda, God of War and the such. The game set up a sequel that basically never came. Because Darksiders 2 focused on Death at around the time DS1 took place. I get what they wanted to do, create a universe and give each of the 4 an origin story and then a big finale. But Darksiders wasn't big enough to pull this off, DS2's budget punched above THQ's weight IIRC.
I was surprised DS3 was even made, but somehow I never played it. Ultimately all horsemen have been featured in a game after all. For the new one they probably should continue where 1 left off, and take cues from this game. It was their most succesful one.

Play it, its a good game. Some found it too hard and soulslike but I never found that to be the case.

Never played 3, but why was so bad received? I read that they tried to add elements of soulslike and it didnt worked so well? is that the reason?
Please be the 4 player coop all 4 horsemen game they were saying they would like to do after the 2nd. I want what the end of the first game teased. Granted it will have to be a different type of game but they already did that with genesis anyway.
I'm not sure what all the blow back was but I personally most saw people unhappy she didn't have her steed and the game world was much smaller in scope because of it. I was in that camp, rider of the apocalypse without a ride was a little on the nose. I still played and finished it and liked it, but the game never got close to a moment like when war gets ruin back in the first game.
Why settle for 60fps? A midrange PC can run those at 120fps without breaking a sweat.
PC gamers will be doing our own remasters.

I am in the same camp. I liked the first game the most by far, thought 2 was alright but could use a bit of work and dropped 3 very quickly.
I could go for a proper sequel to Darksiders 1, but I fear they are going to do something dumb instead.

They don't hate 2, it's hard to hate the best game in the series. But it wasn't a carbon copy of the first game. That's why some people had a hard time with it.
But it's by far the best game in the Darksiders series

Id only consider Genisis different because of topdown view but its still hack and slash with platforming.
