The next "unexciting" Sony remaster is Days Gone, says VGC guy on twitter

Why would that douchey ex Days Gone director be mad about a remaster making it so more people play his game?

Also great game that is in great shape after a sketchy buggy launch.
I imagine it’s because he has no control over it.

i’m not sure but then I look at David Jaffe and that makes sense.

He didn't even want fans to buy the game at a discount, which allowed more people to play his game.

"If you love a game, buy it at f***ing full price. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen gamers say ‘yeah, I got that on sale, I got it through PS Plus, whatever.’"

I personally was not impressed with Days Gone, that is until I played it on PS5. Really enjoyed this game a bunch. Motorcycle in this game was kinda like Argo in SOTC just not alive lol.

I don't own PlayStation, but always liked trailers of Days Gone.
Why are you guys so annoyed?

Because the game came out in 2019. It's already perfectly playable on PS5 via PS4 backwards compatibility and, just like HZD, has a PS5 enhancement 'upgrade' that boosts the visuals to 60FPS and dynamic 4K. There is zero reason to 'remaster' it except to sucker people into spending money for minimal enhancements like haptic feedback/adaptive trigger support and very slight texture upgrades.

But... why? I really like this game - a lot, but it doesn't need a remaster. It already looks very, very good on PC. SSGI even adds a little light bounce to round off the visuals.

Why the hell does this need a remaster? Doesn't it already run 60 fps on PS5?

Sony has no gaem. Only GAAS and remasters.

But not a Bloodborne remaster which is what everybody wants.

So you think about a sequel? but they are already working on a big open world project with gaas elements, so something they have to support for years (if successful)

Funnily enough I've said this before regarding days gone and the potential for a multiplayer component:

Days Gone (this setting and theme would make for an excellent PVPVE game, whether it be extraction based or otherwise).

Teaming up to take on hordes and extract materials from their nests (while having to also fight off other teams of players with the same objective) has the potential to be amazing if done right.

RT probably. Would look cool at night with those hordes and bunch of molotovs.

The ending was also sequel baity and if they’re planning on a sequel, I would imagine they would change some things.

Pointless as it already plays great and looks really good on PS5.

But I like this game and if it can give it a second chance at selling well then ok? I guess?

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Weird, PS4 Pro and better yet PS5 run this game flawlessly.
Resolution and texture improvement I can see but not much else.

They truly will go through the entire bargin bin before giving us bloodborne remastered

We’re gonna have to wait until they make TLoU the re-re-re-remastered edition DX: electric boogaloo (based on the show, based on the game special edition)

Days Gone is an awesome game.......interested on what it will look like on Pro. This still seems a bit unnecessary though....lol

Certainly that would meet my expectations when it comes to a “remaster of a less exciting game than Horizon”, close to a “remaster no one asked for”

Depending on to what extent it is more of a remaster or remake.... An update to DaysGone with UE5 improvements is surely much more exciting than HorizonRemake.

A project that can sell several million between PC and PS5 and where you only needed to invest in the technical update...... Of course, such a number of remakes of such recent games reveals a crisis of innovation and originality in exchange for doing a good business.

RemasterStation5 Weird that these things are from last gen. Fucking hell...
Wait till you see what Nintendo has been peddling for the last 2 years.

All these companies are sitting on their laurels and wasting our time.

Thank goodness I've got timesplitters 1 2 and 3 to platinum and co-op games on steam to keep me going in the post apocalypse of the gaming landscape

I guess it's because people think that there are "resources" (they're never identified what they actually are in those claims btw) that can be used elsewhere to either make new content or something else.

The add-on to the complaint is that these "remasters" are just recycles of the same games being re-polished for no particular reason in order to suck more money out of the Consumer.

I'm down for replaying games if they have a significant change, but nowadays games like Days Gone are so long that I couldn't endure another playthrough. Kind of like how Persona 5 has Persona 5 Royal. Never in my life I played something like the original for over 100 hours only to play it again with add-ons to the story. Makes me kind of dread getting through the Yakuza IP.

An actual remake (not a remaster) of Days Gone is actually not a bad idea.

That's one game would greatly benefit from having the kinks worked out and using extra power for more zombies, etc.

If its Days Gone it kinda shows what level of investment is involved. By which I mean its well known Bend have been working on a new IP for a long time, so if there's a remaster its being done internally with a small team, or outsourced to another studio for cheapness/effiicency; maybe as pilot projects to test UE4-UE5 migration or to the newest iteration of Decima in the case of Horizon.

The weird thing for me is the way people are reacting like swapping any remaster for another remaster is a zero-sum. Like for instance dimwits bemoanang a Horizon upgrade but Bloodborne remaining "in jail" as if this is an apples-to-apples comparison.

Teams DO the things THEY DO, you can't just chop and change because you need a pipeline and expertise working that pipeline!

Its like years ago when I warned people that Playground switching from their bread and butter of racing to an RPG would be a long and bumpy road because of their inexperience handling projects of that type. The usual suspects scoffed then, but time has proven me right.

Teams have specific expertise and ways of working, and you fuck with those things at your peril.

The only reason Sony is doing this is because Xbox has imploded. Nobody has asked for this. If they are going to remaster games, at least remaster something from the PS2 generation like Jak and Dexter. Probably be too much effort

What if the remaster uses the same size hordes that you see in Space Marine 2

I dunno if a handful of proximity bombs and molotov jugs would be enough

Let me dream

If this is true, the only explanation I find, —besides Hermen's incompetence— is that Totoki-san is knocking on everyone's door asking to earn money within 12 months or else meet the katana bros.

Bend has been radio-silent for 5 long years. Since they are not releasing new shit in 2025, they will remaster that game they so proudly buried.
