343i is dead, renamed Halo studios.

As one of the replies said, the studio had not EARNED the right to be called Halo Studios.

If anything they should have been disbanded entirely and replaced by a new team. Renaming them Halo Studios has the same vibe as calling them "High quality on-budget on-time game studio".

Just because you give it a nice name doesn't fix anything. North Korea is called The Democratic People's Republic of Korea, but fat lot of good that name did for them.

Xbox are so bad at their job, they can't even follow the basic, common sense rules for these things. Who. The. Fuck. announces something like this on a Sunday??!? :pie_eyeroll:

I can't believe they continue to push this exhausted IP forward. It feels like they should have put Halo to rest after Reach, and this is the time they finally do the reboot fans have been asking for. Instead, I just feel sad anytime I see anything Halo related.
The games still have enough dedicated base of players, but compared to the hey days it's probably at like 10% of it.

I always thought Halo could be an awesome sci-fi adventure game like Mass Effect. Or a slower paced open world RPG like Fallout.

The pickiest of nitpicks, but that logo looks awful.

Everything else looks promising, but we'll have to wait and see.

You realize almost all the studio heads of 343 - and lots of others - were fired from 343 after Infinite, right? Including studio head Bonnie Ross. The studio was utterly gutted.
The person now in charge is the guy that fixed the MCC - Pierre Hintze.
So yeah - it basically is a new team.

I hope that they can learn from other MS studios with the Unreal 5 engine, because it has become a shortcut to reduce any effort at optimization department with rare cases, rebranding to such a boring name like Halo Studios feels so corporate, I hope that they actually get the right lessons and not DOUBLE DOWN on what was wrong.

Kinda sorta the same people. Bonnie Ross, Kiki Wolfkill and Stinkles all got future endeavored. It’s a new era so the name change makes sense.

They cleaned house over the last year or so (Bonnie Ross leaving was high profile news), and conducted massive layoffs. The leadership team alone is almost completely different:

That’s somewhat reassuring at least. But the output will have to do the talking. Fingers crossed.

Nothing nitpicky about it. It’s awful.
Just use a Ring. A Ring. Like a Halo. I’m sure the god awful Microsoft marketing dept. had its derp hands designing that blocky whatever it is.

Xbox shutting down any second now.
Xbox should've shut them down after Halo 4 and given the franchise to someone else..

But now there are too many games to play to be concerned about past stuff. So these days I'm more curious to see what will happen if they continue forward: Good schadenfreude content, or by chance something good to play.

While I hope this means MS has learned their lessons with why 343 failed, I will be cautiously optimistic. Also, that logo looks like it was made in 5 minutes.

Lol one step closer to closure
Quite literally the opposite.

In any case, this is good to see if for nothing else than as an admission from Microsoft that 343i's tenure simply cannot continue. A new name on the box is symbolic at best, agreed, but it's symbolism necessary to start repairing the damage done. "343 Industries" is a toxic name with literally nothing but a decade of monumental failures attached to it.

Of course, we got similar marketing fluff when 343i took over, but hey - I want nothing more than one more good Halo game, so I'm happy to try and be optimistic until "Halo Studios" gives us a reason not to be.

Look, im, as the majority of long time halo fans, jaded after so many blunders, and yes, skepticism is natural. but, i also need to be honest and im at least okay with ditching blam in favor of Unreal.
blam has been dragging Halo as bad as the rest of the other bad decisions 343i did. and at least with unreal they have a common ground with The Coalition which could be a good thing.

but, like the other peeps here have mentioned. the "new" studio cannot just simply regain the broken trust of fans with words or fancy videos, they need to prove they worth with a new game.
