Happy birthday!Yeah. I went ahead and got this for my birthday. Sounds like they didn't screw it up.

FF7 is the RPG that pushed the genre into the mainstream, you had commercials running on MTV for christ's sake. It was the RPG that shoved the way for the rest. There is absolutely no comparison to be made.Sure FF VII is viewed as the first real breakout RPG, but for many- it’s Suikoden.
hold L2/LT maybe. We can play these two with one handJust started an hour ago. I’m disappointed they didn’t add a quick save option. Also would’ve been nice to have auto-run so you don’t have to hold circle the whole time.
Otherwise it’s… Suikoden. Feels just like I remember it.
it’s pretty amazing how long this got delayed when it doesn’t really seem like they’ve done a lot QOL wiseOK so I see there’s an auto save but it never actually saves??? My Autosave file shows my last save was at 2 minutes of play time. WTF?
Also when you fast forward in battle, the the music fast forwards too LMAO
I really hope they patch some of this shit, seems pretty half baked.
Yeah it’s pretty barebones. Hope they patch it or modders improve it.it’s pretty amazing how long this got delayed when it doesn’t really seem like they’ve done a lot QOL wise
Ok so it seems like Autosave only triggers when you enter a screen that has a save point… what the hell is this?
You can't in Suikoden 1. That space only for important quest itemsIs there some way to transfer items from individual party members’ inventory to the “party items” section? If there is, I can’t figure it out.
Started happening about a year ago and is happening more and more ....very annoying trend!Bought it on PSN and expected it to unlock at 9pm PST like they always do, that's how it's worked for pretty much as long as digital download PSN games have been a thing. Midnight on the East coast, 9pm on the west coast. But it's not going to unlock until midnight. When did this bullshit change happen?
You've gotta be shittin me with that part about the music fast forwarding lolOK so I see there’s an auto save but it never actually saves??? My Autosave file shows my last save was at 2 minutes of play time. WTF?

Handholding has flat out made games worseIt really has been a while. Just started the first game and I already lost my way to a bandit's hideout rather than find that dragon knight in the stables. Ah the ages of no handholding
Man I’ve been playing JRPGs since Final Fantasy on NES. I remember how it was back in the day.Just manual save. Back in my day that's what we always did with these titles.
Huh. I digitally pre-ordered a few games in the last year, I could swear this is the first one that didn't unlock at 9PM on the night before the release. Hopefully it's only certain games. Silent Hill 2 definitely unlocked at 9PM, wasn't that long ago.Started happening about a year ago and is happening more and more ....very annoying trend!
Recruting new members and their sidequests were a game inside the game, i still remember the food contest...World building.
Town simulator.
108 characters with at least 80+ being party member options.
Great story filled with intrigue and an interesting world.
First game is overall "Good" second game is top 5 PS1 JRPGs.
EDIT: Also masterful sprite work.
Is it the same music?Just started an hour ago. I’m disappointed they didn’t add a quick save option. Also would’ve been nice to have auto-run so you don’t have to hold circle the whole time.

I only played the first one back when it released. Fairly short. I loved it....played through twice. Is the first one as good as the second one, only played that one on ps1.
Oh dude you are in for a threat with the second one, i think the general opinion is that S2 is the better one.I only played the first one back when it released. Fairly short. I loved it....played through twice.
I actually really like the pixel-y character sprites, I think they’re a huge part of the charm. They have a lot more soul to them than the high res backgroundsEnjoying so far. Actually can't wait to finish suikoden 1 it really does pale in comparison to 2.
I'm abit disappointed they didn't clean up all the sprites of characters and npcs. Did they really need to keep them pixilated?
Unfortunately the Switch version runs at 30 fps. Not a deal-breaker as the games are still wonderful and worth the time, but it will feel choppy even compared to the PS1 versions.Curious how this runs on the Switch. Think I need it to run great in portable mode with close to zero load times to bite the bullet for this.
Well, damn, thought it was 60fps on the SwitchUnfortunately the Switch version runs at 30 fps. Not a deal-breaker as the games are still wonderful and worth the time, but it will feel choppy even compared to the PS1 versions.
Was checking some comparisons and some of thew assets almost look AI generated, if they aren't.
Haha, dude I just ran into this before the 1st big fight at Mt seifu. It wasn't much of a fight but seeing the large black bar pop up saying autosave at the bottom of the screen was hilarious as my eyes panned over to the 1st save point in the wildMan I’ve been playing JRPGs since Final Fantasy on NES. I remember how it was back in the day.
Having autosave but only when you enter a screen with a save point is the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard. It’s like they outsourced it to some devs who speak a different language and misunderstood the requirement.
User story as written by concept owner: “As a gamer, I want the game to autosave whenever I enter a new screen, so that I won’t lose progress if I have to quit the game before manually saving at a save point.”
Requirement by the time it reaches the programmer: “the game shall autosave when the user enters an area with a save point in it”
Is the first one as good as the second one, only played that one on ps1.
Nah, I'll take this warts and all over shitty sprites and unplayable stuttering any day. It's weirdly inconsistent. Some of the backgrounds and textures look great (e.g. forest areas) whereas others have a very distinct cheap mobile game vibe to them.
Not a dealbreaker as the gameplay is intact and there are a few nice QoL improvements, but it would've been better if they took the FF Pixel Remaster approach to the graphics.
