I wonder if this is related to Tariffs from both sides. I find it interesting, to be honest for an increase across all companies.
This is not greed from an AIB when all decides to go that extreme.
As an AIB, I think they are mandated to sell at least one SKU for MSRP price, if the MSRP of these cards has increased, does that mean the FE will get a price increase as well under the excuse ( or legitimate excuse ) the tariffs?

Original 10xx crypto boom was in middle of the gen.
For 10xx and 20xx cards, I was just able to go to a store randomly on release and pick what wanted for expected price. Releases were unaffected

If you only want the best money can buy, then yeah, PC gaming is unaffordable for most people.
However, if you're willing to compromise then you can get a lower spec build that still plays the latest games for far less.
Not only AMD either. The recent Intel B580 is a decent card and has great reviews. You're not going to be gaming in 8K at 120FPS on it, but on the other hand it does cost under £300.
I want to build a PC this year, but most of the games I want to play won't need a 5090. It'd be overkill, so I'm seriously considering the B580 or maybe something from AMD.

What does that have to do with nvidia when 3rd party brand's charge 50% more, asus charging 3k for a 5090 or something has zero to do with nvidia but the fact that all AIB's get away with those prices because enough people buy them.
Also dont think even for a moment that you or me will get a rx9000 series for msrp because those will also be priced +50% at minimum.

A lot of people don't like to hear this, but maybe big apu's can bring it back. We are getting a glimpse with the (expensive) strix halo chips.
So if someday in the next few years, you can get these with a more gaming-focused configuration, that can change things. Maaaaybe some builders are willing to build without any discreet gpu at all. They'd get modern performance with the price of the gpu rolled into the soc, which would save a lot of money. It really opens up integrated systems for legit gaming, though. Laptops, minis, handhelds, tablets. I could live with that.

See this is the problem . There is no strickt market pricing for gpu's. They just charge whatever they feel like. Prices are bloated and unrealistic.
And on top of it this is an annual game where the cycle repeats.
The solution?
Sell gpu's for commercial use and then sell gpu's for personal use. Then you can charge the premium for commercial use as its a write off anyways and its to generate profit. Same as license for softwares.
Have a msrp for retail for home use.
I mean 5k or 3k or even 2k for something that costs a few hundred bucks to produce....i would vomit

But how many rich people are out there? What are the actual numbers? I doubt a bunch of rich kids can sustain the whole PC gaming market. Soon any sub $500 card won't cut it anymore (they barely hold already, especially with all the unoptimized games and UE5) and what happens then? Are publishers going to continue making PC games for such a tiny market? Unless PC games cost $300 or something, i don't see why they would bother with PC ports anymore.
I know the whole "PC gaming is dead" thing is an old meme but if this isn't the time, i don't know when it is. And i really hope it will die soon enough because can't wait for Nvidia, the vendors and all scalpers to end up with worthless doorstops nobody want anymore.

Supply and demand, people still buy Nvidia's shit despite them being overpriced and defective and the other parasites join the fleecing. I've known people who spent pretty much their entire month's salary to buy a goddamn GPU just to have RT, the most overrated feature in gaming history. Don't forget the standalone PhsyX card that must be added. If there's an accessible slot on the motherboard. There's also the connector pins being rated for 7.5A and carrying 25A. Before long Corsair will be selling fire prevention systems you can install in your case. Retardant foam jets, flashing lights. It'll be pretty cool.
