Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

And before completely dismissing it because 'lol 4chan', don't forget that the Pirate Yakuza game was leaked all the way back in May.

"Games will run at 4k/60 fps"

this is where I stopped believing

games this gen run at dynamic 720p-1080p @ around 30-46fps

Unless you buy the PS5 MEGA.

The BC versions already run at 4K. If this happens Square is probably going to delist them to force people to pay $50:

First of all, let's tick off the basics. There's an established baseline with improvements to the X-enhanced back-compat line-up - specifically, a 3x resolution increase in both X and Y axis, for a 9x boost to pixel-count overall. Final Fantasy 13 originally ran at a somewhat disappointing 1024x576 on Xbox 360 with 2x MSAA, but Microsoft's vGPU delivers a vastly improved 3072x1728 native resolution on Xbox One X, retaining the same AA technique. For pseudo-sequels Final Fantasy 13-2 and Lightning Returns - also backwards compatible and X-enhanced - that increases from the original 720p to full native 4K, again with 2x MSAA.

True, if this is announced officially, find second hand copies asap before scarcity makes them even more of a collector's item.

I ain't paying them $50 PER GAME, fuck that price structure (if true).

$129 for 3 PS3 games, only one of which sold significant numbers... Hmmm....

And offering discounts on 2/3 platforms, when the odd one out has the biggest legacy interest (especially in Japan) is just going to encourage people to wait for sales.

Its possible, but even by SE's often tone-deaf standards it'd be an absolute disaster.

I wish they'd go back to 10 and add some Qol features like fast battle and OG character models.

I'd replay 13 on PS5, never played the other 2 but would be interested.

Square having a competition with Sony here who's releasing more pointless remasters nobody asked for. Bonus points for all of em being in the same franchise and releasing so close to each other that even the most hardcore of fans are getting tired of it.

May double dip on PC depending on how much they improve it. Assuming this is real. Never got around to playing part 3.

I think there are good reasons to do a proper re-release. While the Xbox Series X backwards compatible version does have improved FMVs, they are still limited by the Bink format and so aren't even as good as the PS3's AVC-encoded FMVs. The XSX version is also limited to 30fps. There are a lot of improvements being left on the table by only relying on backwards compatibility.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns also received FPS Boosts to 60fps.

Plays with kids toys, in the adult gaming world
FF13 is the only 21 century mainline FF game I actually think is decent other than FF10....I'm in!

11/14 (Online)

12/15/16 (Worst games in the series)

It amazing how far this series has fallen that FF13 which I thought was average at the time
now feels like a high point of the last almost twenty years of FF

I wish sony supported BC because I own all three on PS3 cool that people who have it on xbox get some type of deal

If this is true, I wonder if Final Fantasy XIII-2 will have the Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect outfit DLC.

While they didn't do it for 2 and LR (mostly because they barely used CG outside of intro and outro), they did ree-encode all the CG and video cutscenes for XIII to bring them much closer to PS3's.

LR and XIII-2 also got 60fps patches with their resolution boosts.

I would LOVE a FF XIII remaster. It’s about damn time.

It’s a very flawed game but IMO it has the best combat in the series, god tier soundtrack, great lore, and really beautiful audiovisual presentation.

PC version has some great mods to improve the graphics, including one that replaces the character models with the HQ ones from the cutscenes, BUT all the facial animations are broken at >30 FPS. I’ve been waiting for a proper remaster.

maybe i remember wrong but there are no random battles in ff13, at least in the base game.
so i would say it's false...?

unless he's referring to removing enemy NPCs from the map or making them "untouchable" as seen in the recent Talesof remaster

Sounds a little overpriced but cool if true. Not the best FFs but the music and art direction is absolutely stunning at times.

The story gets weaker along the way, although in XIII it starts interesting with some metaphors about Life itself.
The villains are weak too imo, I honestly didn't care about Caius Ballad or Dysley.

XIII-2 is maybe more popular but I prefer to play with Lightning. I enjoyed Lightning Returns although i used a cheat back than to stop the annoying countdown timer.

Hopefully the PC version will run better than the OG version. It detecting my wired 360 controller was always a battle. Fond memories of it though.

IMO FFXIII was an awful and disappointing FF, but an OK JRPG in general. I only played like the first 15% of XIII-2 and never even touched the third one. So I'd probably pick this up.

Surprised by the amount of people into this. Thought these games were universally hated. Couldn’t believe how bad they were.

It’s the cycle of hype and hipsters. Do you remember when FFVI was declared the greatest JRPG of all time? Now it’s Chrono Trigger, and seemingly FFIX will follow. Wind Waker is now being argued as the best Zelda along with ALTTP. People are even celebrating Metroid Fusion now and lots of nostalgia for Super Mario Sunshine. There was a huge resurgence of FFXII love when The Zodiac Age dropped.

I skipped every FF game from XI to XV, eventually picked up XII, XIII trilogy, and XV for cheap (still haven’t played them). But the important part is to make up your own mind.

120 usd for 3 games that can be bought on Xbox/PC for less than 30 usd.

Also, with the exception of XIII, the other two games already runs at 4k and 60 fps on Xbox Series X...

thanks cuz of that video i now have to listen to the entirety of the xiii-2 ost... so FUCKING good

I loved FFXIII from the very first day. XIII-2 was great too (OST was godlike). Never had the chance to play LR.

I might be interested in a PS5 physical edition, just not at full price. Same thing for Pixel remaster.
