Shit, you know they are just about to open a microcenter near me. The closest one now is like 3 hours away.

Not that I would have gone anyway. I thought there was a decent chance of getting one online this morning. NOPE.

edit: Oh shit. Tustin CA. That's a lot farther than 3 hours. Son of a bitch. They are about to open one like 40 minutes from me.

They stacked those for 1.5~2 months btw. If that's all then really, they would have had a terrible january release. This is a paper launch, just a bit more stacked by 1.5 month delay.

imagine standing in line for mid overpriced gpu in 2025.... what the hell
Do you not remember the BS with the PS5?? I spent two weeks basically working a second job trying to get a PS5 at MSRP. I was able to get a 9070xt today waiting for two hours at microcenter (I know most weren't so lucky but still think it will be easier to get than the hell that was PS5 launch).

Walked into my local PC store and walked out with a Asus TUF 9070xt. Given how much I sold my 7900xt for, I may just sell the 5070ti for $200 over MSRP and i’ll get a free 9070xt lol

I'm probably going to put my 4070 Super on ebay and do a Linux build with the 9070 XT. Looks like I might make a little profit on the Super myself going by what they are currently going for. Hopefully enough to cover ebay fees.

Ps5 was at high demand and it was Covid. But I jest ordered mine and got it month later. I missed preorders and just did that on release day but yeah it was scarce.

I agree, but currently GPUs are in high demand (in part because people want to play games on PC) and there are other economic and supply reasons chips are hard to come by. Just saying shortages happen to both PC and console.

Yep, by the time I could get to a Microcenter nearby, they only had a few cards at $750.

I wish I could have gone this morning because they still had $600 cards around 10am.

For me it was $600 9070 XT or nothing so I really lucked out on the best buy website this morning. So did you get one or are you going to wait?

They actually had a decent amount overall, much better vs Nvidia. However I think Nvidia shitting the brick with this launch led to a lot of people getting these cards.

Like Microcenter had a decent amount of cards in their stores in the morning. And usually it’s not particularly convenient to scalp at MC so most buyers were probably legit.

The really unfortunate thing is that the $600 price is likely over.

Nope, had a long conf call with some VIPs at work all morning so by the time I could try anywhere online it was all gone and Microcenter only had more expensive cards left (none now).

I am not paying over say a max of $650 (maaaybe $700) for this card, so no cigar. I will just keep an eye on stock refesj and see what I can get next. I really want to try a Linux build and 9070XT would be perfect for that.

Smart play. Can’t sell local through FB marketplace? Its huge in my city. Its where I sold my 7900xt.

I look at it like this

If I wanted to buy both consoles to play all the games:

PS5 Pro $700
Xbox Series X $350 - $500
so $1050-$1200

plus you can emulate retro consoles which, to me at least, is an invaluable feature.
And then there's all the other functionality that comes with a nice pc. Video Editing, Streaming, not having to pay for online play. Music production, Blender animation, production. And in the end, you can upgrade particular parts instead of buying a whole other console that will likely be in the $600-700 range next gen. All that with the likelyhood that next gen consoles will still not beat out pc in performance or features. So yea, get in for $2000 or so and pray that competition particularly in the GPU space becomes more heated. The 9070XT is a great step in the right direction. Can't blame AMD for the greed of AIB partners and retailers looking to take advantage of the hype.
Yeah.
I just think it’s an absurd thing to start talking about PS5 Pro in a thread like this.
You don’t go into a thread about a smart watch launch and tell people to go buy a regular arm watch. Unless you’re just there to troll.

We don't really know what the stock was like. Buuuutttt.......

My local microcenter had 940 in stock, this was not a paper launch lol

^^^That's nothing to sneeze at. If reports are to be believed, that's like 1000% more than nvidia for a brand that only has 10% of the market share.

It's probably not going to work on your Linux quite out of the box. It's officially supported but it's in the latest kernel and Mesa driver. So you're probably going to have to put those in manually. The amount of time it'll take to be rolled into your distro depends on the distro.

Those are still available because no one wants one
Maybe Sony deliberately stocked the ps5 pro in appropriate amounts.
Since when became the availability of a product an indicator for sales, or lack thereof?
If Nvidia programmed you guys to think that no stock means successful product than you are the perfect consumer. Congratulations you are a capitalism sucker. 🤣

I mean did 2 builds with em in 2023 and a Nvida build

but shit....I might replace my 6950xt with one of them 9070s lol

maybe....maybe
I want to build a new PC. Don’t need it but I love the building process. But I wish they had more VRAM, I’ve already hit the ceiling on a 16GB 4080 Super so a 20GB or 32GB XTX would’ve been better.
Or maybe I just wait on Nvidia to get their shit together on a future Super serie.

Same here, but my next PC is going to be a Linux only build (dual boot on this machine but never use Windows). AMD is the logical choice for Linux, I just wish they had a GPU with 32GB ram under 1K. Will probably build with a Ryzen 9950x and with a 9070XT GPU to begin with but would jump on a 32gb+ AMD GPU at a decent price. I think AMD is missing out if they don't make a 9080XT with lots of ram.

Yeah. AMD has a golden opportunity to take some market shares right now. But either a 9080 XT or 9070 XTX is needed. Not just for AMD but for PC gaming in general. Right now the mid range market is kinda covered but high end is essentially just 4090 and 5090 right now, and the first one is already gone and the second is absurdly overpriced and scalped.

Is it needed though? The percentage of PC gamers prepared to drop 4 figures on a card must be very low. Majority of market share is made up in the mid range.

The 9070 XT is already 4 figures where I’m at. Goes for $1050. But that’s because of inflation.
In the end I’m just talking about my own perspective. I have a 4080 Super and a 4090. The 4090 can run everything but the 4080 Super stumbles, occasionally. Like in Indiana Jones, where 16GB isn’t enough at 4K with ray-tracing without tweaking settings. So I want a card with more VRAM, and 4090 can’t be bought and 5090 goes for $3500… and can’t be bought.

Still a bit pissed off I couldn't get hold of one yesterday at MSRP but whatever, no point being annoyed at what was inevitable in the first place. I think what annoys me most is the front these cunts have saying that they're going to charge more after the initial stock. The card was only worth it at MSRP for me and I imagine many others.

Now that AMD finally produced a genuinely good GPU, they can't meet demand?

Might look into that. A bit leery of in-person transactions for higher dollar stuff, but yeah....those ebay fees are killer.

Do you mean for the FSR 4 support and such or just in general?
