A new rating on the ESRB website suggests that Resident Evil 6 may be getting a re-release on current-gen consoles

Yoboman Yoboman you were saying? lol

Is it not backwards compatible?
Who cares? What does that have to do with remasters? Where did this weird idea even come from? lol The entire RE series that was on PS1 was ported to PS3 via PSN.....PS3 is BC to PS1.

But...why the fuck would that matter to Capcom? Their job is to make as much money as they can.

This reads like a rerelease, not a remake.
Likely, I believe they are just remastering 6 and will remake 5.

Just a re-release of the base game? This is the one game that’d actually need to be re-worked from the ground up.

I recently had a Resident Evil renaissance of sorts.. after loving all the Remakes - after playing 4 I had to go for 5 which I've never played beyond some demo that I hated.

I ended up loving RE5 and think it's pretty much Majora's Mask of Resident Evil. Skipping a lot of details, of course I went on to try Resident Evil 6. Wtf is that .... I could not believe what I was playing. I tried it for a little over an hour and just turned it off. I'm soooo glad they dropped all that nonsense and went closer to something the series is with Resident Evil VII. But why in the world are we getting the seemingly awful RE6 before 5? November 5th, 2024 was all the go-ahead Capcom should have needed to go ahead.

Yes RE5 is good. I don't like the setting but its absolutely not as bad as I once thought. Its worse than RE4, which isn't really all that surprising. But the gameplay is legit good, if you can accept tank controls. The shooting, the hit reactions, the sound etc is all on point. Knee capping a zombie, and then uppercut never gets old. It just feels perfect. Best mercs in the franchise too. And its still active online. Last year I managed to find a good random player and we beat Desperate Escape on Professional. This was an awesome as fuck experience.

RE6, well, I went the extra mile and beat the remainder of what I had open (mostly the last 2 chapters of each) except for the 4th campaign which 1) sucks and 2) wasn't even directly unlocked in the vanilla release. Its shit, but you can do a lot of movements. Dive, roll, duck, cover, run and shoot, run and punch, quick shot, counter attacks... Its clunky but it does work, you can quick shot, slide into enemy and then coup de grace. It feels good when it connects.

And there isn't even that much action gameplay, its much less than I remembered. Half the campaigns are cutscenes, rail running scenes and QTE scenes. Jake kind of shot up in my ranks, its by far the shortest with approx 45 mins per chapter w/o skipping scenes. The final boss isn't a nuisance either, hes as straightforward as they come. Sherry is a pretty cool character, wasted on this worst RE. Its funny, but I realized but in the Remaster you can directly choose the final stage of any chapter you open up. So you can pretty much skip 80% of the entire game if you desire so. Probably do only the final boss stage on the highest difficulty for trophy whoring.

That's a lot how I look at it - if you liked RE4, I'm confused as to why you wouldn't like RE5. Story or setting wise? Sure could definitely understand, but the gameplay is great and is like RE4+ in some ways. I look at it kind of like REZero - the story is just awful, but the gameplay is classic fixed camera RE (aside from some changes like item box, two characters), so I also loved that!

The only thing they need to add is a tutorial because most people dont know how to play this game and they do it like RE4 when its closer to something like Vanquish.

I actually liked Resident Evil 6 for what it was. It's not Devil May Cry 2 bad. It's a decent action game with a really good mercenaries mode. Some of the best third person controls as well. It just wasn't a Resident Evil game. Almost no puzzles, negligible exploration. No escape room type environments like the mansion or the police station. You would have to completely rebuild the game to turn it into a Resident Evil game. No point remastering it again just so it's in 4k.

Welcome to 2012 papi
To be fair after I saw resi 5 I kind of dropped out of the series. 6 totally killed it off for me as they started veering off what I liked about the games.

I only came back for 7 due to VR. Loved the remakes of 2&3. Capcom should do zero and the original, to see the spencer mansion in all its detail like the police station in 2 had would be super fun.

It’s funny that capcom is terrified to go back and touch resi 5 brownmageddon, I’m surprised they never released a patch to race swap the zombies.

Resident evil 6 is the only resident evil I've never played, I can't last for more than 30 minutes as its awful.

I have no idea what even happens in it.

No idea what this possible reissue or even remaster is about.
