completely disagree but i haven't played much FFXIV
VII remake is every bit as bad XV to me. Actually it's worse because of the source material they were working with.

Old school. I really like the original FF7, I think that’s my real issue. And FF7RI is like a completely different game using the same characters and story, kinda. It plays like a third person slasher, and not a good one. For me it’s interesting for the cutscenes and that’s about it, I just want to see where they take this iteration of the story. Gameplaywise I think Fantasian, by the original FF7 creator, is a better game, even though that one also have issues.

As has been said already, how do you expect to cultivate a following when so many JRPGs are blocked or never sold on the platform? People just instinctively *know* JRPG =/ Xbox, so the audience will go elsewhere. Then if the publishers are saying ok let’s send a new canary down every once in a while to gauge interest, and shock horror it doesn’t perform, what are they honestly expecting. Rinse and repeat.

I forgot it was coming to Xbox. The original is in my top 3 of all time and this remake was just average. Cutscenes were amazing and I enjoyed some of the boss fights but besides that it was just ok. Gave up on it twice and went back to finish it just about a month ago. TBH I just loved seeing some of the areas that it’s modern graphics. Really loved aeiriths house + garden area and a few other locations. Most of the game itself was tedious with soulless horizon- like npcs.

There is a free month trial and it’s $5 if you just stay a month. Definitely worth it.Biggest one being bound to a subscription service
I like subscriptions, makes me play more games since there is no extra investment. Just started subbing to PS Now at $50/year, which will be converted to the new PS+ Premium later. The original FF7 is there, downloading now.

Well Square probably has the numbers of copies FF games sells on Xbox plus the add Gamepass effect to Xbox game sales and decided it was not worth.
When I say not worth it means the numbers of copies sold they expected to happen won’t cover the development costs of the port.
But that just a guess… only Square Enix knows the reason but normally that is how companies decide if they port or not a game to a platform… it needs to have a high chance to profit.

I think Sony paid for full console exclusive for this whole generation there was a rumor a wile back i think it true if it true no mainline FF game will come to Xbox this generation Sony has open the wallet for Square

Yeah, I thought it was a slog but the story is neat. I will just watch no commentary playthroughs of the future installments. I recommend those with an xbox do the same. You're not missing anything by watching it vs playing it, just like MGS4.

they need to actively encourage japanese devs to release on Xbox as well. either by making PR deals, publishing deals or similar things.

Octopath came to xbox the same day it came to game pass. Ff will follow same. Watch.Extremely simple to understand. Makes sense for Squenix to take game pass money 3 years after the games release.
The original came to xbox 2019, game pass 2020 and left a year later. Squenix tend to treat that IP a little differently. So maybe you wont get it on game pass day 1 of an xbox release

Yeah and that game came to Stadia before Xbox as well. So I guess after the Stadia release of FFVIIR we can expect Squenix to take Game Pass monies.

The only recent FF I didn’t like was FF15. The combat was just annoying in my opinion and the focus on the car was a bit much. I would have preferred it to be more linear but to have open areas.

My take on this is that there are two possibilities:
1: Sony is in VERY advanced talks to acquire Square Enix, so starting to invest resources on an Xbox port wouldn't make sense.
2: Square isn't interested in spending resources in a late port of the game, due to the expected revenue not being worth it.
I don't think Sony bought full exclusivity for this, as they were very clear it was timed

Ehh that doesn't sound great to me. I play jrpgs for the turn based combat. The last final fantasy game I played was ff7 so they lost me long ago. I like old school combat in my jrpgs.

Yep that's me! But Microsoft would have to pay a decent amount to get the game. And they're not afraid to throw money out there to get content. Outriders, stalker 2, the show games. So that's why it comes to xbox. BECAUSE of game pass. It's a beautiful thing
