Campaign & Story Info



Tyson Rios and Elliot Salem begin Army of Two: The 40th Day a few years after the story of the original game ends as self-employed
private military contractors who run, with the aid of Alice Murray, their own private company called TransWorld Operations (TWO).
They are engaged in a routine mission in Shanghai when things go very bad. A competing PMC attacks the city, causing mayhem
and destruction and threatening Rios and Salem’s survival.

Multiplayer


Multiplayer in Army of Two: The 40th Day has received significant changes since the original.
These changes included region-free play, client-server connections
(as opposed to the original Army of Two’s peer-to-peer connections),
and an increased number of participants (up to 12).

There are a total of four multiplayer game modes:

* Co-op Deathmatch pits teams of two against other partnerships.
* Control awards points to teams for capturing and defending randomly spawned points.
* Warzone has players battle over various objectives.
* Extraction is a game mode where teams of four fight waves of increasingly powerful enemies in order to progress through areas of a map with the goal of reaching an extraction point.

I'm looking forward to this but can anyone tell me if the PS3 version has improved frame rate over the demo?

PSP version is a totally different, top-down affair from what I hear. I loved Killzone Liberation, hopefully up to that level.

$45 on PSN store (in Canada) though, too pricey for me this week.

im playing the 360 version atm and i see some improvement over the demo
runs alot smoother

also im having a blast with the co-op single player atm, Im only 1 hour in and so far its delivered,
its got some really jaw dropping moments u feel like everything around you is crumbling and the game plays at a frantic pace which i like

cant give my official verdict yet

Picking this up today! Couch co-op splitscreen shooters allow me to overlook almost any flaws. My buddy and I played through the first one which was terrible average at best to be honest, but between the sheer odd joy of 'pimping' out your weapons with gold and diamonds and taking down enemies with a friend, we had more fun with the first one than we had any right too.

Seeing the positive reviews so far make me look forward to this game even more.

Sweet! I will be buying this. A friend and I will go trough it splitscreen coop.

The demo alone was more fun than the whole of the first game.

I really wanted to like the first one. I REALLY DID.

But the main story-line missions were too short.
The multi-player was beyond broken.

With the exception of being able to play co-op through the main part of the game, I hated everything it.

Hey EA... if you want to see how to do it right, check out Uncharted 2.

I'll wait for more opinions before I give this game another shot. I'm hesitant to buy into the ratings given so far.

Gamefly shipped it yesterday. So I hope to get it by Wednesday at the latest. I just love how batshit crazy coked out Commando OTT it is. I also really like the morality and inclusion of civilians (unlike say MOST of MW2) into the gameplay.

Never played the original because of the horrible things I heard online and from friends. I was assuming this was going to be just another slapped together sequel for a cash in. Guess I should try out the demo before jumping to conclusions, but I ain't holding out much hope.

Picking this up at lunch. I have a feeling alot of people are going to enjoy the full game better then the demo presented.

Should be diving in with a buddy tonight for a few good hours!

I saw a Youtube vid of a guy playing the game this morning. It looked alot better than the demo. As I suspected, the demo was a very old build. I have a crapload of credit at GS right now with nothing else really coming out that I want until Bad Company 2.

I might get it.

The first one wasn't horrible. It had some issues, mainly a co-op AI that was not helpful at all, but it was fun.

Really looking forward to this. Really enjoyed the first one, I am a sucker for a good co-op game. Planning on playing through this tonight with my brother.. more splitscreen co-op games please!

Besides the framerate the aiming was also really bad. How is that in the full version?

Is it fun toplay with a buddy? If so I could give two shits about the review score and the story. Like I play these types of games for the emotional narrative driven plots :lol. All this review needed to tell me is if the game was fundementaly broken, which from reading these, its not! So consider my purchase justified.

Picking this up today. The guy I played through the original with (3 times...plus multiplayer) isnt picking it up for a few weeks cause he's addicted to Bayonetta. So if anyone is looking for a partner that will communicate - everything from flanking maneuver to sarcastic banter between enemy encounters - give me a shout.


...But I call Salem (since he looks alot like me :p)

Got the game, now i am waiting for my friend to get it so we can co-op. Me and him loved the first game because of the co-op:D I just hope the servers aren't as stupid as the first one!

What was cool about the main storyline, is that they added two complete levels (including one that had a good ending for the game) for free as DLC. Upping the game from 5 to 7 levels.
Anyways, I finished Army of Two recently & it was definitely a 7-ish game. Gears clone that isn't anywhere as good.

So anyone with the final build, how is the aiming compared to the demo?

Just finished the game and all I can say is "ehh" :lol

Respawning enemies are worse in this compared to what, COD? Was that the benchmark for respawning bullshit? Magnify that by 10.
Some reviews make a big deal about customizing guns and that's probably a bit too much. There's variety in a sense that you can mix and match but the benefits aren't that great. I don't remember which gun I rolled with, but I stuck with it through 80% of the game.

The tagging system needs some work, especially if you play with the AI...which is bad all around.

It's better than the original, but that isn't saying much.

Only problem I had with controls
- left stick crouch and stand up wasn't always responsive
- cover system could use some work
- aiming

thanks its my first try at it :p

this game definitely has to be played in online co-op or even better get a mate for local splitscreen, game shines the most when your both working together, the Rock-Paper-Scissors mini game is hilarious when you need to make a combat decision

about the ass slapping yeh its in there, and then some lol

I actually started playing the first game today, go figure. :p

I'm willing to pick this up, but only if a friend is up for it. Most likely though, I'll be waiting for this to drop in price.

Picked this up today, and I've been pleasantly surprised so far. Guns feel good, enemies are vicious and adept, and the level design has so far been quite good. I'm currently traversing the side of a toppled skyscraper, and it's damned cool. It's bit rough around the edges, graphics range from excellent to meh with a lot of aliasing, but the core of combat and co-op action is hot.

360 version, if anyone was wondering.

One complaint: the lowest sensitivity setting is still quite high. Thought it was a bit too sensitive so I went into the menu to lower it, and I was surprised to find that it was already at the lowest setting.

Picked it up today, but can't play it until tomorrow when a friend picks it up. I find it lame that extraction isn't there for those that bought the game. Should've been done with a on box code like other EA games.

Playing through the game with a friend, enjoying it so far, but is anyone else having problems with disconnections? We got disconnected like 3 in as many levels. Annoying.

According to this thread on the new Game Informer, it received a 6.5/10.

I always enjoyed the first army of two despite some of the dislike. I haven't followed the second closely at all, but I need to catch up.
