It was Smash JT. He broke the story about the Game Director leaving BioWare which Jeff Grubb picked up afterwards and received all the credit from news outlets. But my position was more don't immediately dismiss him rather than I fully trust him.
His credibility is shot though. He didn't just get a story wrong here, he was made a fool. No one will ever believe him again.

No, it was a Canadian YouTuber making an example of him. I'm surprised this didn't happen sooner.
None of this is reality and I know this because I AM THE LEAKER (see attached). I did this to demonstrate the bad faith reporting in gaming news, especially around a game like Assassins Creed Shadows. Ethics in game journalism is important. Smash could have asked for proof, he could have msg'ed me on a different platform, he could have reached out to other sources...but he didn't. He did not verify any credentials as he indicated. The only communication is attached. Anyone can send an email to [email protected], pretend to be anyone and it becomes news. This has been a trend and I have more examples. In fact, his Bioware "leaker" reached out to me to say they were just messing with him. Make your bag of money, but don't expect bad reporting not to be called out. A way to avoid that is to do a better job.
