Assassins Creed Shadows: Real-life Japanese shrine officials are “taking action” over Ubisoft’s portrayal of religious site

We've been killing God and defiling Christianity for 30 years with the entire Shin Megami Tensei series. Fucking hell in one title we literally killed YVHV with the spear of destiny, y'all are tripping hardcore.
In SMT we are literally fight mother of christ as boss battle.

This game. Holy shit have ubisoft just continued to shot themselves in the foot over this game.

Ubi shares were up 5% today though. I convinced a friend at work to get some stock in December. Maybe they'll sell or get bought out finally. Then that stock will go up

dont know what is your point, but i didn't prove nothing, didn't see any deliberate destruction of religious artifacts in any of those videos, like is done in ACS also, killing NPC inside church is not "trashing the place".
Check my post history, I hate Yasuke as a main just as much as the next person. However, this has been done already. Japanese shrines/churches shouldn't be off limits because a game depicts it.

He’s right tho. Islam must be treated with kids gloves at all times.
I agree, but that's a different conversation altogether as it relates to this thread between Japan and America and the West and historical, religious, and cultural media depictions, artistic expressions, and exchanges within the context of capitalism after World War 2.

Now do it for Islam, oh wait.
Try harder. There's PLENTY in SMT, every religion gets press turned in the fucking face.

No, it is not.

People are bringing up Christianity in this thread, which is the only 1 out of the 3 Abrahamic religions that has full ring to be made fun of and blasphemed on, thus bring Islam into the conversation as well, then draw the parallels why some are more forgiving than others when it comes to religion.

Or does that conversation make people too uncomfortable because they've been monarch programmed into feeling some sort of unearned shame and guilt or fake "phobias."

Try harder. There's PLENTY in SMT, every religion gets press turned in the fucking face.
Oh, fucking please. Islam blasphemy isn't any sort of mainstream in any gaming or Hollywood works. Not clearly in the same scale as Christianity.

Not a single developer will have the balls to smash up a mosque and destroy anything sacred in them. Down to having a painting of Muhammad.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
Honestly, it's a little hilarious just given how brazen it is, from a company that tows this holier-than-thou line about cultural sensitivity and inclusion.

I genuinely think it's fine to have this in the game and that those offended probably just shouldn't play it. But they also shouldn't play it because it's an Ubisoft game, and it's probably bad.

If you say so, I'm giving you a title that's been doing every religion in for 30 years and you don't acknowledge it because it's not what YOU want.

Secondly, most WASPY nations have been taking the piss out of every nationality and religion for ages but when it's turned around now it's oppression? Or is it you're realizing how it feels when the fingers are pointing back at you?

I am more than happy to have this conversation and have always thought the West has oftentimes bent the knee towards Islam. However, I would also argue it has limited the amount of soft power Islam has on media due to these restrictions.

I would also be remiss to not acknowledge that you're continuing a strawman argument that has no relevance within the context of the specificities of this thread, hence textbook whataboutism.

The context is, some people were calling these people "snowflakes" and then using Christianity examples as to why.

When there is another under the Abrahamic umbrella, and people more often than not, are too afraid to call them out due to decades of media, school, political brainwashing.

The parallels where maybe people can step back and understand that some cultures and religions are less forgiving, not that I agree with that they are or not.

What nonsense. When has there ever been something like this pointed at ANY other religion in the modern era, on a scale as big as the Olympics?

I’m a Catholic and I’m not offended by this intentional disrespect, but you’re kidding yourself if you think something like this would ever fly if it was about Islam.

Oh, I understand it, but eventually, some of them are going to have to learn to get over it. However until we get enough people to challenge it, their depictions will continue to be limited and restricted.

As Dave Chappelle so eloquently put it, "Everything's funny until it happens to you."

In the last of us 2 I think you can't shoot the torah or mess in the synagogue but you can in the church. I didn't Chek it out myself but read about it.

I'm actually stunned that people are actually on Ubisoft side this time.
Maybe they don't care about culture because they don't have one? Or maybe its just Japan and people are naturally inclined to dogpilled on them.
You never played kingdom come? You can loot and kill in the monastry....you can't destroy bc there's no physics

Maybe we should shit on your culture to gain perspective?
Almost every american movie speaking about my country is an insult, I dont make a fuss about it.

Also, please explain how destructible elements in AC are problematic, compared to the raids and slaughters you could do in the churches of AC Valhalla.

Cry more.

Yes, let's blame video games for their idiotic behavior and not the idiot's decisions to behave that way.

I swear I've been transported to the 90s with these old and basic arguments.

I'm not blaming video games, just giving examples of subhumans behaving like monkeys for whatever reason, mostly social media attention. Countries who appreciate their cultural heritage aren't fond of this. In the West we have been indoctrinated to hate our culture, to bring down Columbus statues, to commit profanities, and a long etc, but this is not shared by any nation with a bit of self-respect.

Oh no, they made fun of a painting *WOMP WOMP*

Btw, there's a ton of paintings of Dionysus that are similar to this. Christians look for any reason to be offended, literally making shit up on your head and getting mad about it.

Might want to think about who's actually throwing insults and complaining.

He's kind of right though
Yes, if you have a victim complex.

If you have a well-informed, intellectually honest, nuanced critique, there's likely some truth to it, influenced by multiple factors. But when framed in absolutes or extremes, it’s hard to take seriously.

I'm very sorry I hurt your feelings. It's a fucking work of fiction full of all kinds of violence, but destroying a couple of props in a shrine, that's too much, right. Equally as bizarre as people who were upset by some trans jokes, caricatures or whatever in GTA V that ended up being removed. Some people should really get a grip.

Yeah, agreed. It's a very odd thing to get weird over. It's a work of fiction and the player controlling the character did the damage.
