So we switched cyberpunk from SH1 for animu shit and nonsense one-sentence lines for Persona? +obligatory SFX pondering to GitS fans.

I don't think so, most SMT spin-offs simply borrow the iconic elements of the series (demon summoning & negotiations) to put a different spin on them in a standalone setting. Is this game connected to Megami Tensei setting wise?
Calling all green rats to buy this game
Probably just Yakuza like DragonGame Pass to Soul Hackers 2:

About time Atlus gave the other SMT spin-offs a Persona3 makeover. Imagine what Raidou Kuzunoha would look like.Looks like Persona.
I'm in.
I guess you have demons yeah. In the trailer, at around 1:10 you can see demons with levels and what appears to be demon fusion.Looks good but not sure why its called Soul Hackers 2. Doesn’t appear to look or play like the original much. Do you even have demon party members lol
I think the baffling issue is it's not megaton. It's nicheaton. So one might naturally question why they're making the choices they're making in regards to their platform choices.Holy shit megaton
Day 1![]()
The fighting game isn't on Xbox tho.Xbox ? yeah this is part of ongoing deals with Sega, MS is getting cozy with them.
I scrolled by this too quickly and read it as “they are too busy pegging Persona 5”.Dear god, this looks fantastic. I'm fucking in.
They are too busy port begging Personna 5.
Game Pass to Soul Hackers 2:

The fighting game has been BC for years on Xbox, no need to re-release it.The fighting game isn't on Xbox tho.
I didn't beat the first one, but it had waaay more dialogue than SMT III and V.In amount of story, dialogues etc., is the first game closer to Persona or SMT? It's just that i prefer my jrpgs when they are story heavy games.
Soul Hackers was a first person dungeon crawler in which you had a party of 6, composed by 2 "humans" and 4 slots for summonable demons. Game didn't have any Persona mechanics but did have more dialogue and exposition than your average mainline SMT, and more cheerful too. I guess it was closer to an average JRPG than mainline SMT or Persona.Never heard of this spinoff. How is it different from SMTs and Personas?
Really surprising that an SMT game is skipping out on switch, especially with how the switch is selling in japan.
This is something people should likely get used to.
It doesn't mean it'll never come. I expect more and more 3rd party developers to release on all platforms excluding switch and then port to Switch after, taking their sweet time. This may very well be the case for SH2.
It's time to come to terms that, unlike all other platforms, releasing on Switch involves additional work, because it's weaker and very different in many aspects. Releasing on everything else first and Switch later is a solid strategy.
You can release on everything with very little porting work and THEN release on the Switch later. Or release it only on the Switch, or add several months to all releases just to wait for the Switch. The former strategy being better should be a no-brainer.
Not to mention all this commotion could force them to re-think their approach. In worst case, we could have something similar to KH on Switch, unless people don't mind this as long its on Switch.
I really want to know how this'll work. Trailer has the Goumaden, and it shows demon fusion... But it also has a party compossed of four people with COMPs and such, so... Dunno.I hope this doesn't have the summon system like the original where it drains your currency. Day one on PC.
There’s the 3DS port of the original for comparison.
Not sure how I feel about these new character designs.

People should buy this quickly before the eShop closes, for information. Boxed version is very expensive now. There’s the 3DS port of the original for comparison.
Great news, now they need to port SMTV to PC.
I'm playing Shin Megami Tensei V on Nintendo Switch and I'm having a great time.Nice, never played the original but this looks great.
Also awesome announcement itself: Coming later this year, announced with gameplay, Atlus finally releasing their stuff simultaneously and on multiple platforms
Between the Nvidia leak and the files on the Switch version alluding to a PC/PS4 release, I really think it will happen.
Main reason I skipped it on Switch despite being hyped about it. Already learned my lesson with Persona 5....don't buy Atlus games at launch.
You shouldn't expect anime aesthetics to look the same now as they did in the 90's. I'm not 100% happy with it either, but while different it also looks kinda cool. Not a big fan of some character's design tho.The atmosphere is totally off from the first game
Really? Where? At least Angel and Jack Frost have their old designs.it seems we are seeing Doi design demons here as well
SMT IV didn't have a leak and system files hinting at a port.I'm playing Shin Megami Tensei V on Nintendo Switch and I'm having a great time.
Honestly I don't see a reason to wait for the possibility of a PC/PS4 release. People didn't played Shin Megami Tensei IV and Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse after all these years in waiting of a PC port too?
