Atomfall | Official Extended Gameplay Deep Dive Trailer

In an ideal world yes - however if you call your game an RPG it needs deep systems and NPCs that react and compelling story. Turn-based combat in RPGs is fine (and indeed is often far better than action combat given how intricate systems can get - see BG3). My point is that Atomfall looks to be far more of an RPG than Avowed and one of these is funded by one of the wealthiest corporations on the planet and the other isn't. Atomfall looks to have made the most of the money that was put into it.
The devs previous games are the sniper elites, i don't except much in term of deep rpg mechanics tbh, everything they showed look super basic and derivative, from loot to crafting to rpg aspects.
Avowed being less interactive than 15 years old games did a number on people so now when they see normal stuff like npcs reacting to stealing and moving a bit it's seen as an incredible achievement...well it is not, it's the bare minimum, avowed is just a beyond terrible rpg, end of the story.

So yeah, since i already know this game is not gonna be remotely as deep as something like kc2 or even elex, i expect at least to have fun combat.

That's a fair comment - I am perhaps comparing to the worst RPG-lite in recent memory when there are many examples of better games (kcd2 as you mention)

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
It has a 3 day early access for deluxe edition but that will also include the DLC that will come at a later date

Timestamped at 11:43 if said timestamp fails me :)

Gotcha. Didn't know this one had an early access period too.

I know some folks here like to make a big deal about Early Access stuff, but it's just as easy to wait a couple of days for the standard retail release, IMO. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Early access doesn't really bother me but just afraid some dev might think, hmm can I charge $200 for 2 weeks early access in this MP game?

One thing in the preview that intrigues me is that they don't have a quest system. Could be nothing, but it seemed like they're approaching objectives, hints, and pacing in a potentially different and more freeform way.

I want to see the extent of this because even ubisoft avatar had the thing where the quest only gave you clues like look at the tall trees or other visual clues but not a precise position but it wasn't enough to save the game.

The sniper elites are veeery objective list heavy so i don't know if they can manage a game without quest points tbh.

The economy where you exchange objects for other objects could be also interesting but it could also be something very basic where you just collect the objects that have a bigger value and use those to exchange, like it sound cool in theory but the execution could very be pedestrian.

Yeah, I'm curious. They don't really explain it. From what they said it not only doesn't have quest points, but it doesn't even have quests. I could be way off, so I guess we'll see.

Looks right up my street, the video got me even more hyped and its only Ā£40.
I'm biased as its in the UK but having potatoes and pasty in your inventory is hilarious, also the classic cricket bat to crack a few heads in.
