Avowed has pronouns

Just saw this and figured we should discuss.

Why the devs thought this was necessary is beyond me. These types of decisions immediately make your product a lightning rod for controversy.

Now the question is, is a one off or is Avowed infested with identity politics nonsense? Where there's smoke there's fire as we saw with Veilguard and the top scars option.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
I mean, if it just said "Male" instead of "(He/Him)" in OP's screenshot, it would look just like every other RPG released in the last 30 years while conveying approximately the same information.

At this point I don’t think it’s rational to discuss or argue - some developers will ship games with pronouns and some won’t.

As a customer you should or can do:
  • Ignore it as they have no impact on the gameplay.
  • If it bothers you - get a mod that removes it.
  • Ultimately, don’t buy the game.
Solved.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
God I don't fucking care about pronouns, it can be in the game or not, as long as I enjoy the game I don't care. ÍThis whole grift and bullshit from Grummz is tiring. They'll immediately turn a corner once the game is successful and pretend they never tried to brigader against the game

Remember how quickly be backpedaled on the whole Veilguard "review guidelines" bullshit he tried to peddle, lol.

Pronouns are EVEN MORE necessary in a fantasy game. How the fuck am I supposed to know if this Orc I'm talking to is a male or a female?
Stop bitching about nothing, guys. Just enjoy the games
I mean - I've been playing games for 35 years. I've never had this problem you're talking about, even in fantasy games. In fact, perhaps I'm mistaken, but I'm pretty sure they were all labeled clearly with terms that made sense historically.

Nothing about this is "necessary" in a fantasy game.

Not that I remember, but it had you playing cupid between two lesbians.

Riveting role-playing sci-fi gameplay.
It features a space station of virtuous communist female engineers called The Groundbreaker that stands as a lone beacon of fairness and righteousness in opposition to the evil male capitalists of the galaxy, so I don't think pronouns are its main issue one way or another.
I enjoyed it when I played it in 2020 but there's a clear difference between old Obsidian and Neo-Obsidian. 🤷‍♂

I can actually live with this inscription in the menu, I am least interested in it even if they add pink unicorns there, let them have fun if they don't have more serious tasks and they consider it important. The main thing is that it doesn't affect the dialogues and the plot of the game. If it gets there and has a direct impact on the dialogues and the story and it is not integrated into the world of the game or explained by the lore of the game, roughly speaking, added purely for show to comply with the "norms", then we really have big problems.

But what if an Orc is male and it uses she/her anyway? Let alone "they/them"?

That's more confusing than not knowing.

Because you do know these pronouns are not really supposed to represent what gender one is supposed to be, but rather what gender one would wishes to be.

I'd argue that it is meaningless in Demon's Souls. I mean, even your character's name is meaningless, as it is never used in the game. The issue is in games where gender is obviously used, but intentionally mislabeled. For example, Dragon Quest III used A/B, but throughout the game, items and characters clearly refer to these as being a man or woman.

This is the same. It could say "man" or "male", but instead shoehorns the very modern "he/him". Imagine watching a movie set in Ancient Rome and someone announces his pronouns. It's jarring and completely unnecessary.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife

If this is what turns you off the game, you probably need to reevaluate your hobby.

I find it so weid that people are stuck up on this issue.
Which side is the snowflakes again?
I mean, yeah, if the game has stuff I don't like then I won't spend my money on it. Simple as that.
