Bethesda has filed a trademark for "Starborn"

If they fix the exploration of the base game entirely, make it seamless, cut down all the 90% of the copy pasted crap, delete more than half the useless planets, then yeah, ill get back to it. As it is, you can add gold on turd but at the end of the day it'll still be a turd.

I too expect that this second DLC pack will completely remake 95% of the entire game from the engine up.

They’re still chasing Skyrim even now. What an unoriginal name.

"Starborn" was a thing in the base game and yeah, it's quite unapologetically Skyrim-inspired with the goofy "shouts". Only not nearly as epic and the powers themselves were hilariously bad.

An indie team managed to fix their entire turd from the engine up. A billion dollar company can't? They can, they just wont.

O I agree, Bethesda doesn't give a shit. Because if they actually did care about their product they never would've released Starfield in the state that it was in.

Imagine Tod Howard sitting in front of an Xbox and playtesting the game: move 10 feet - loading screen - move five feet - loading screen - land the space ship - loading screen disguised as cutscene - leave ship - loading screen - walk to city - loading screen - enter store - loading screen and he was like "damn this is cool. Ship it".

Game is an insult.

Indeed. They knew, but I also think it didnt take so many years as they state it took. There is nothing in the game that would make anyone believe this is anything more than a 2-3 year dev time. They probably restarted the game development a ton of times and just kinda rushed it for release thinking the hype would carry it. Boy were they so wrong.

The loading/menu for traveling KILLS the fun and immersion!!

It's been said before but they should show they're working on this problem specifically.
Doubt theyll do it, but in the meantine theres a mod called "Seamless grav jump" which makes it a lot more bearable, someone even made a star wars version.
Not sure if the menu will ever be properly solved, but to a limited degree you can somewhat initiate jumps by selecting targets from the captains seat.

First expansion is based on single planet. So none of this will apply.

The worst part of Starfield is the main story, especially the ending. It doesnt explain what do you exactly gain from going through the process, what is the point of it all. Sadly it seems the DLC will double down on this theme.

That's exactly what this could start getting into. What is the Unity? What are the Starborn? Where do these powers come from? Who built the temples? They have tons of avenues to go with it for future installments.

The most interesting part of the 2 expansions so far is that both have potential to start introducing pseudo-religious aspects or supernatural elements; The Great Serpent and the Sanctum Universum.

It could be a prequel exploring the origins of Jean Luc Picard or the clone troopers.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
They can do whatever they want, I've lost all faith in Bethesda as developers.

Their past games were cool but from Skyrim onwards every release has been worse than the previous one.

Starfield has the potential of a great game.
They just gotta fix the Story, the space combat, The space travel, the load times, boring planets, boring characters and Boom! you got yourself a great game.

Maybe the knowledge that Fallout London is made by the community is working on me but I feel waaaay more invested in FO:L than I was in FO4.

I feel that they should've launched their new IP as a AA release instead of a massive AAA release. A smaller release with tighter focus and see how it is received, take the feedback and then try it as a AAA game

Good. They've barely scratched the surface on the lore. Can't wait.
Tangential to this announcement, but lore always seems to me to be a way to say,”We don’t know how to write well, so we come up with a bunch of epic shit to stick in emails and journals and books we’ll throw in the game world that gamers will say is ‘amazing world building and lore’. It’s the DM who spends thousands of hours on bullshit no one cares about.

Lots of fantasy writers are lore architects and world builders first, and so, are bad writers.

It's just a different thing. You need to have a world that captures your imagination and makes you want to explore. I think they nailed that well. Then after that, you need to write quests that function a bit more linearly like an episode of a sci-fi TV show essentially. I've never thought Bethesda were great writers, but they usually have compelling lore. This time I actually thought they had some of their best quests as well. Crimson Fleet, United Colonies, both had cool stories that felt like a TV show. I enjoyed multiple side quests too. I think the expansions have a great shot at being pretty interesting. There's some Va'Ruun elements in the main questline that were pretty cool to see.

If they had a sturdy base, yes. They've built their house on sand.

Love the new cat photo

Playing Starfield completely sunk any hope I had for Elder Scrolls VI.
They made it very clear from the outset really that Starfield is its own thing and does not play like an elder scrolls or fallout game.

They wanted something that felt very different. So using Starfield as an example for how the next elder scrolls is going to play and be designed is really a pretty terrible approach to seeing how it will turn out.

I think this might be the subtitle for ESVI and not even for Starfield. They don’t always use the subtitle named after the region.

They are not an indie developers who requires such rigorous feedback. They have been making games for so long it's just shameful they keep getting worse with time.
