Don't let the nostalgia take a hold of you! Bandai Namco is dirty cheap and spits this anime arena fighters garbage like it is nothing.

This is basically Bandai's modus operandi, and they've been more and more shameless with their low efforts to produce these types of games.

Ugh why they always make beat em up when they have an anime license?

That might be all that they are allowed to do.

So even if they wanted to make some deep RPG, who is going to contract that out and fund it?

So for them, beat em ups and fighters make the most sense financially.

It's cool in so far as I think Bleach is cool. Divorced from Bleach, I'd have no interest based on the gameplay and mechanics, though.

Oh cool another Anime Fighting Ga- Ohhhh it's just another Arena Fighter nevermind

Dragonball FighterZ must have been a once in a lifetime quirk of fate in the Anime industry.

I feel the opposite, very tired of the standard fighting game fomular.
The game being an arean fighter doesn't bother me, It's a matter of quality.

This feels like it leaning towards tekken

By beat em up do you mean a fighting game
I mean most people want to play these games to fight as a main character against other main charachters.

Like this wouldn't really make much sense as a spiderman type openworld.

Most anime-based games are arena brawlers, not 2D or 3D fighters (or at least, not what is usually classified as a fighter). Dragonball FighterZ was a rare exception as that was a 2D fighter.

I know, not sure is this is what he means by beat em up though.
Beat em up can mean a lot of thing.

The fact it’s not the 1000 years war and basically the old story from 10 years ago is an automatic pass for me

And after watching the video ...... Eh I think i m out

This looks really good...Bleach hasn't had a good anime game adaptation in forever.

I really want more anime games in the style of DB Fighterz but I can take an arena style Bleach game for now...assuming it does turn up good.

It is not beat em up, its fighting game btw

I cant be more agree, bandai often do cheap trick (although develop fighting game aint easy) there even a stand alone genre, called anime fighting because people often bored with it.

It looks like it want to lean a bit more toward a "traditional" fighting game but still an anime arena.

With DB FighterZ I really hoped, it opened the way for more games in the same vein.
I still hope it happens with Bleach. Especially with the hype around the current anime for TYBW.

It would make all the sense as open world or open ended levels, you hunt hollows around the city, then visit and explore the soul society then visit hueco mundo etc.

They can structure the game like a souls in terms of level design.

It's Bleach, people expect fighting games from it. That's what happens with certain franchises, you don't expect a K-ON! fighting game for example.
As you can read in this very topic, not everyone wants a fighting game out of an anime license, you know you can fight in other genres aswell right?

Bleach is perfect for an action rpg, they just want to take the easy route like majority of people who do anime license games or maybe like someone said it's the only thing they are allowed to do (not sure why).

That is what the Bleach property deserves, but companies think “nah, it can sell thanks to how popular the IP is, it would be a waste of money” and cheapen out.

Disagree. The Heat the Soul series back in the day on PSP wAS pretty good and played exactly like this.

In my eyes they're doing exactly what Sparking Zero is doing.

Recovering past gameplay and slappping current gen graphics.

Fighting against hollows and mobs is not what most bleach fans care about, the locations of bleach aren't interesting at all either so while they could make something up there it's now a part of the series that really gets people hype unlinke onepiece .

Also bleach characters are 10x more mobile than spiderman, they can literally fly, I am not sure how close to Souls you are thinking but that type of level design doesn't really make sense.

Something more like a Musou game would make more sense.

You have a lot of characters that you can put as mid boss or bosses, it would not only be killing hollows, cmon dude, have a little bit of fantasy.

People have been asking for open world or action rpg out of big anime licenses since forever, i'm hardly the first one asking for something like this.

Less than a page worth of people. When I hear "Dragon Ball", "Ruroni Kenshin", "Naruto", "Bleach", old manga/anime names I think of fighting games, and I'm pretty sure more people would be disappointed if it's not a fighting game than if it is. It's not like "Record of Lodoss War" where you might expect something different. They became famous with their battles, or so I believe.

less than a page for a 1 page topic, i think it's enough people :lollipop_squinting:

about the bolded, yeah because you never fight or have 1vs1 boss fights in an action rpg or open world action rpg...

We already had a BTA on PS3 and it was complete garbage.

Yeah because all the fighting games with anime license are 10\10 games and not just 6-7\10 games most of the times...

Are you people really want to die on this stupid hill?

Many people would love to have a AAA made open world action rpg made by a good developer based on naruto, one piece, bleach etc. deal with it.

Both Ubisoft Naruto games on 360 were open-worlds and they were boring. Open-world = boring. Pretty sure One Piece also had an open-world (Infinite World Red or whatever it was called).

How about making a competent 1 on 1 fighter where each character is unique ? That would be a good start. Better than some generic arena shit.

I ask you the same thing, how about making a good action rpg instead of a shitty one? especially when we already have probably multiple fighting games for the same anime, why not differentiate a bit just for a change?

I'm sure that many fighting games based on anime were mediocre af so again, what even is your point?

My point is that the new game is going to be shit and making an open-world instead would be shit as well.

And there have been many excellent fighting games based on animes, by the way. Sadly the shift to arena totally sucks.

But that is beyond my point dude, that depend on the developers, don't you think?

If from (or your favourite action rpg maker) had the license of berserk and capcom had the license fora fighting game based on bleach, would you be as pessimistic? no because they would be in good hands.

Of fucking course the game is gonna be crap if the dev is shit, independently of the genre, at best i can give you that a figthing game is easier to make but that really doens't make my argument weaker...

Btw, i never asked for an arena game like the dragon ball games if this is what you had in mind...

A bad dev will make a bad game, being open-world will make it a bad game, and being an arena fighter will make it a bad game. So not independant on the genre. You can pick any combination of those.

But if people are happy with open-world or arena crap, then more power to them I guess !

It's just to differentiate dude, a crap fighting game is not more worthy than a crap open world game on my book.

Totally agree. Kakarot for example was such a breath of fresh air to the Dragon Ball gaming franchise.

Wait, there is an open world action rpg based on DB? i thought that one was also an arena game.

Based on Dragon Ball Z to be more precise, with the DLC's tackling stuff from original DB and Super.

I wouldn't say it's a full blown open world game, but it's the closest you can have for now.

But yeah, there is one, and it's pretty neat, specially if you're a dragon ball fan.
