Can you people play a Vita without a grip?

Yup. I use the PDP grip while playing Sonic & All Stars Racing, for 'Xbox 360-like' vertical triggers, but for everything else, I'm perfectly comfortable playing without it.

I can play it easily without a grip... in fact, I've found it to be the most comfortable handheld that I have ever used.

My time with my Vita has been rather great, Ive only noticed through heavily concentrated play (PSASBR 1 v 2) when my hands will slightly cramp, but that falls back on me rather than the Vita because I tighten my grip a little too much when playing games.

Vita is pretty damn comfortable.

Can you people play Kid Icarus Uprising without the stand?

I currently use this. Far from perfect since there is no way to charge and play, but its held pretty strongly by the lock and take it out take less than 4 sec. Pretty good I would say.

I'm looking for a 3DS XL grip but cant find any. Any suggestion?

Its pretty good without, but playing Modnation Racers and Unit 13 gave me cramps in my hands. With the grip the cramps are gone. So that's a plus.

I haven't tried a grip but I think I need to. I haven't ever had problems with portable system ergonomics, but the vita hurts to hold, and I hate hate hate the size and placement of the face buttons and everything about the triggers.

I could not play my PSP-1000 (aka phat) without grips, my hands would cramp so badly after half an hour. That wasn't a problem though with the 2000 or 3000 model (aka slim), though sometimes my fingers would hurt from pressing buttons so much.

I don't think I've actually played my Vita for more than half an hour in a sitting, so I can't comment. Does seem better than the PSP phat though, but I absolutely hate the triggers and face buttons. That's probably the biggest reason I don't play the Vita more, my only game is NFS:MW and you have forced to use the triggers to accelerate/brake, which is awkward on the Vita.

Love my fucking grip for both vita and 3DS. Getting old.... :(

I can play longer with little to no pain. O think they should be standard with all hand helds. Though the clam GBA wasn't bad. The PSP hurt after marathon MonHun.

I have the default grip that came out around vita launch, but I'll have to get the nyko one now. Bastards.

Holding the Vita while using the sticks felt a bit awkward at first but I've gotten use to it. Gravity Rush time trials will make sure your hands adjust to the control layout. lol

I really need one for the 3ds xl. While the larger size alleviates some of the problems of the 3ds, the real problem is the thinness of the system.

The only grip that I've seen is that dreamgear one, but it looks awfully flimsy.

I didn't like the look of the dreamgear one either.

Back in November I got this one

I imported it from AmiAmi.com They also have a blue one and a red one. With the cheapest shipping option it came to about $20 total shipped from Japan.

It has sort of a rubber coating, not a plastic.

On Ebay lately I've seen this type, it looks like it's just regular plastic, it ships from China for a total of about $8-$9, they have a white version of this one too.

Back in November when I got mine I didn't see this one on ebay yet. I don't have this one and I'm unsure if the back would be as comfortable to hold.

The Vita does start hurting my left hand quite a bit after about an hour or so with most games. Especially if I have to use the left trigger a lot. I don't know why it hurts the left hand and not the right though.

It's never been a problem for me, I just hold it a little looser with fingertips on the back instead of gripping it tightly like a controller. All those accessories look pretty fugly to me.

I have one, but I really haven't used it much. I thought it would make FIFA a bit easier to play, but I just don't like the feel of the grips. I tried.

Nah i dont use a grip.

The only problem I have is occasionally bumping the sticks when using the Dpad or occasionally bumping the touchscreen when using the sticks so a grip wouldn't help

Never had a problem with holding the Vita, but twenty minutes of Mario Kart on the 3DS and my right hand goes into rigor mortis.

I wanted to get one but no stores in my country fucking sells any. Well, except for one model but it's cheap and too small.

The same for me. Used to tolerate the DS's core design which extended into the 3DS, but now it's just ...well it's like I want to avoid using the damn thing, but Mario 3D Land and Kid Icarus beckon me :(

Nah, haven't needed one yet. I don't play for long stretches though, so maybe that is why I haven't run into any issues. I can see how it might be useful for games that require faster reflexes, like Wipeout or COD.

Just got the Hori Grip today. Changed my Vita experience 100%.

Damn, that much. I didn't really have an interest or feel I needed one, but now I kind of do..

I really liked the PSP Go for everything except playing games. It was very uncomfortable to use for even relatively short play sessions. I just got to the point where I figured handheld gaming should be done in short sessions, so it's ok that I could only stand playing the thing for 20 minutes.

Then I got a Vita. That damn thing just melts in my hands. It just feels so comfortable to me and I can play it for hours straight. I'm a big guy, and I have big hands. I have no idea where the complaints come from on the Vita being uncomfortable to use. I would never ugly the system up with one of these grips.

PSPGo was PERFECT for me. Pefect size, perfect ergonomics.

Only drawbacks were the segmented, recessed D-Pad and the shitty PSP nub that would get quite uncomfortable with prolonged use.

Can't agree with the Go. I even have larger hands, but never had a problem. Maybe its because I rarely game for hours straight.

Agree completely on the Vita though, it is a thing of beauty. The grips do have me a little curious to try just to compare, but I have no problems with the Vita as it is.

I haven't taken up handheld gaming in years. I might consider one of these in the near future though. Looks promising.

Have I been converted?

I use this. It is godlike.

The vita is fine on its own, but this is SO much more comfortable and it increases the battery life by about 8 hours, in my experience. The downsides are that it itself takes a very long time to fully charge (maybe like 12 hours? lol) and that you can't directly hook your Vita up to a computer while this thing is on.

Nyko Power Grip
Never even thought about using a grip before this thread, but I'm probably going to buy this. It sounds so good.

Although I don't need a grip I find that it would probably be easier to do rear screen stuff with one attached. Might look into that Hori grip later.
