Can't decide : Atomic Heart Vs PoP the lost crown Vs Granblue Fantasy Relink

'Evening boys and gals.

So, I've always been interested in these games and since they're all on sale at the moment...

- Atomic Heart : I'm in the mood for a FPS/immersive sim (?) since it's been years that I've played one of those, thing is, is this more Bioshock or Metro ? (or, Metro Exodus due to its more sandbox nature ?)

- Prince of Persia TLC : I like Metroidvanias but, ngl, i kind of had my fill after finishing FIST (the one with the hare).
This is apparently one of the best Metroidvanias out there and there's also the full upgrade pack (DLC + Skins) for just another fiver.

- Granblue Fantasy relink: Bought persona 5 royal, put it on the side since it didn't click with me but I still need my JRPG fix.
Tried the demo, liked it well enough but I hear that it's very short SP wise and that the endgame, MP part of the game is basically dead nowadays.

Very different games/genres, I know, which one would you pick though and why ?

Cheers

If you don't care about multiplayer, I strongly recommend Granblue fantasy Relink. The story ain't as short as you think and the strong point of the game is the cast of characters with different style of gameplays. Even though they are cpu controlled, they can still play ridiculously well and you can equip them with all your prefered gear (sigils). You never gonna feel alone playing with them.
My only gripe with this game is doing ultimate attacks, since they use both sticks and this sucks the life of my controller (and me as I hate pressing the stick button).

Personally, Granblue, easily the best one of this list. PoP is a not so close second for me, but not because it’s not amazing, but just because of how incredible Relink is.
I did not like Atomic Heart very much. It’s fine, nothing special though.

Atomic heart is basically russian bioshock with better combat but overall inferior as a game, i would go for that, not much of an immersive sims tho, unless you are one of those people who use the term very broadly like people did with indy or kc2 (that are not pure immersive sims).

I heard that pop is also a pretty good metroidvania but i didn't tried, not a fan of time bullshit mechanic tbh.

Thanks guys for chiming in

So, it's basically PoP Vs Granblue so far from your comments - I've always read about Atomic heart being "wonky"/bug-y and having terrible English VOs so maybe that's why it didn't jive with most people.

I'd say that PoP would be the best/safest bet but I'm also very curious about Granblue dammit, then again, I've been reading many comments like the one from struggler_guts struggler_guts of the game being "shallow" for a lack of a better word...
Is the online really dead ? Reason I'm asking is, I know fuck and all about Grand Blue in general and if the single player proves to be extremely short...yeah.
It's about 15- 20 hours long, correct ?

Edit : is the Prince of Persia DLC worth it ?

What I'll say is that I had an awesome time with the SP campaign in GBF:R when I played it last year. The combat and characters were fun, and some of the boss fights were really well done.

There's post-campaign content, but I didn't really bother with it, as the 20 hours I put into the campaign and side quests was plenty for me.

I'd say I beat it under 15 hours. Also when I say shallow I don't mean the combat, since I only did the main story and bounced I can't say how deep that gets.

Regarding metroidvanias I never played POP but guacamelee is a GOAT

I mean if you want some good JRPGs there are better ones vs Granblu. Heck, FFVII first two remakes would be awesome to play through and first one should be cheap now days if on sale.

Strongly recommend Granblue. The story mode is cool enough but the game shines when it comes to combat and team building in the mid to late game. You can comfortably play all the quests offline and you may still find players grinding in the endgame. Comfortably a game you can play 100+ hours while still enjoying it. The highlight of it all are the boss fights as they get crazy later on.

Totally worth it. Its platforming focused, if you enjoy that in base game, it ups that quite a bit.

I'm also not a huge fan of metroidvanias focused on platforming, i prefer when they are focused on combat.

I'm probably gonna try it sooner or later when it's dirty cheap.
Combat is great on higher difficulties.

Though it is platforming focused title am afraid.

Vaib, since you mentioned difficulties, which would be the best one for starting a new playthrough ? (I play most of my games on hard and above).

Thanks

As hard as you can handle.

Combat is Metroid Dread level, its precise, with clear signs from enemy attacks. It has that quality where you get gud as you play and get used to it. Boss that was difficult at first, you will wipe the floor with after learning the patterns.

Edit: I will also add it was my GOTY, and I enjoyed it quite a bit on many levels. Might be biased towards the franchise.

I've only played Relink out if your 3 options, I'd say I found the story campaign of relink very enjoyable, quite a few exciting set pieces. The roster of characters are substantial and play differrently. I did a bit of grinding for the sidequests and endgame, its repetitive but I found the gameplay was quite smooth so I didnt really mind. I think they added some endgame raids, not sure if you can solo them though, I imagine you can if you know what to grind for.

Enchantment Under The Sea just got released and seems to be a worthy DLC, you can also wait for DLC #4 and play everything.
Atomic Heart is not as refined as Exodus or Bioshock but has really good atmosphere and art direction.

If you liked the demo then Granblue. Full game is more of the same. If you only care about rushing story then I guess it's short but the value comes from unlocking and building different characters and playstyles. I got about 85 hours of playtime before I stopped at the endgame grind (which may be different now as I played at launch).

What do you mean not as refined? Combat and general gameplay is really not worse than these titles (i would even say it's at least better than bioshock) and the game look like a AAA in terms of graphic.

I played all 3 games at launch and AH was also the less buggy\better performing one of the trio.

I don't think you can really go wrong here to be honest.

I've played all 3 and and they're all good.

Ranked:

  1. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
  2. Granblue Fantasy: Relink
  3. Atomic Heart

Think of GBFR more like Monster Hunter than a traditional single-player game. Yes there's a story, but it's all about the instances and the combat is really fun and flashy (though I don't mean the combat is similar to MH, only the structure of the game).

Only played Atomic Heart and it's awesome.

I think the only resemblance with AH and Bioshock is that in both games you have powers, i didn't think of Bioshock when played AH, AH is really special imo, the russian music as mentioned here is lol fantastic, the combat is meaty and you see enemies get damaged, the settings is kinda crazy all around, it's a really solid game which i enjoyed a lot, it's also not a straight shooter only, you have puzzles to solve and areas to explore to upgrade your character.

I can't answer in a better way because i played it long time ago. I remember that i thought it was bit like Metro 2033, great first game but a bit clunky here and there. Not every aspect of the story is interesting and boss repetition in the ending.
Anyway it must be even better by now and the DLC looks really cool. Hope they make a sequel.
