Well tbh I haven't been entertained by Sony very much since PS5 launch. The hardware is good but the softwares aren't my jam. I used to love PS a lot between PS1 and PS3.

Xbox is at its lowest and shittiest 🤷🏼‍♂️

Man I used to be so into Microsoft, at one point I had…

- Windows 7 laptop
- Xbox 360
- Windows 7 phone (Samsung Focus)
- used MSN Messenger
- I was even entertaining getting a Zune

Between 2011 and 2013 that all fell apart

- Windows 8’s shit start menu bollocks
- Xbox One’s reveal shithousery
- Windows Phone 8 lacking app back-compatibility (they were already way behind iOS and Android at that point)

By 2015 I’d pretty much ditched Microsoft altogether and was fully embedded in Apple’s ecosystem with iPhone and MacBook Air.

Way to fuck it all up, Microsoft

I paid good money for this Dynex!
Glad they're doing well enough to sell a $700 upgrade console with a noisy fan lottery, where the key feature is a scaling algorithm that doesn't work right half the time.

I used to really get into their Bravia line of TVs, in the 2000s. I did get a bigger Bravia (from 40 inches to 48 inches) and it lasted five years. I then bought a 65 inch Bravia and it lasted two years. Add to that the terrible Google Android TV interface and I stopped buying them.
Still the best Sony purchase I’ve ever made was a minidisc player that I bought in the late 90s. That thing still works perfectly!

Always wanted to get one of their phones but never did and I'll probably never have the chance to get one.

Im an LG OLED guy and been using their OLEDs since the 6 series. I have a 900F in the bedroom and it's a good TV but I got it at a good deal..I probably won't ever get a Sony OLED.

Last items i purchased where the PS5 and WH-1000XM3…
Next up is the Alpha 4 + all lenses i need… so, quite expensive.

My Sony 1000XM5 headphones are without doubt the best headphones that have ever graced my ears.

They could well be the best headphones known to humanity.

Looking forward to see what they do with the XM6.

Yeah they was hot in the 90s…. Trinitron TVs…… quality hifi seperates when people use to buy stereos. The car audio is still quality but I prefer alpine and JL audio.

They make quality products to this day. Hoping they continue. We already lost Toshiba, hitachi and akai….. bough to be fair akai are still doing just fine selling drum machines and keyboards these days.

I bought a PS5 Pro so I guess that’s great for them. I also bought a PSVR2 as well in 2023. They’ve managed to get me buying games and hardware from them more than I normally would so you could say this a great gen for them.

The bigger they are the shittier they become. That rule never fails.
Not really, but ok

Sony is probably the worst in the gaming industry because even if they release another Concord, they will just swipe under the rug and the Sonyboys will act like nothing happened. Even compared with EA, Blizzard and Ubisoft, Sony still is the worst. At least with those the consumers get careful and start boycotting thing after thing. There's a lot of reasons why EA dons't really have a real hit in years, Blizzard is afraid with Diablo's future and Ubisoft is bleeding money by the clock

PS5 is only having greater sales than Xbox because Microsoft is in a shitfest of production since XOne. They don't know good marketing, but Sony does

I wonder if we will have another early days PS3 scenario, when Sony gets slapped in the face for how arrogant they are. They deserve it

On a roll? The stock is at $21. A couple years ago it was $24. It's actually down over 10%.

And before that, Sony's stock was down the in dumps so much, the last it was $21 it was 24 years ago in 2000 during the dot com fallout.

Sony is doing well in the TV and movies sector because they wisely chose to continue selling their content to all the other streaming platforms like Netflix and Hulu. Bravia Core is their own streaming platform, but they chose to offer higher quality video streaming instead of gatekeeping their own stuff (see: Peacock, Paramount+, etc). Sony makes money regardless, raking in cash while the others all try to outdo Netflix.

With the payoff of that strategy, it makes sense that gaming will follow suit. They know the era of exclusivity is coming to an end. Microsoft had no choice with Xbox failing, but Sony’s going to have to go that route as well. The moment Valve ships a Steambox, I will likely abandon the Playstation platform but will be more than happy to buy their games all the same, since they’ll eventually start doing universal launches for everything once the market shifts enough. The games they produce are generally way more expensive than Nintendo’s offerings, so they can’t continue down the current path.

It's also a peculiar content strategy comparing PS to their home TV/DVD/BR dept.

Sony is the only AV company that has their own TV/movies studio content. So when it comes to DVD/BR players even going back to when DVD players were hot and a million companies made players, you'd think Sony would try to ecosystem it so that only Sony media players can play Sony owned content. Add in all the other content and their DVD players would be the only ones on the market with access to all media content, so naturally people would buy Sony players to ensure they can get all content. I'm sure Sony could code the players and discs in such as way only Sony players could read them.

But instead they just made DVD/BR players like everyone else where all content is open to all products. They must had analyzed its not worth going that route because they'd sell way more discs across all brands than trying to wall it off on only Sony systems.

In terms of image processing they’re the best in the business.

The other reason I chose a Bravia over an LG is due to Google TV being superior to that god awful WebOS.
They need to make a top of the line TV with no network capabilities, no OS, just inputs. Tired of that trash in modern TVs.

My home entertainment set is entirely sony, A95L, HT-A9, PS5 and Pro, and a couple of over the ear headphones. Glad to see them doing well.

So. Sony worst than the Xbox One guys or the dated hardware guys…

Uh Huh Yes GIF

I've bought none. Sony has a cheapness to them, outside of their console, that simply does not appeal to me. There are also other companies that do things better at a similar price. Even their movies are fucking awful.

PS5 for me continue to be a let down in comparison with my PS2, PS3 and even PS4.

If this is what companies become after sucess, I'll be glad to take another route.
I agree with you 100%, I've loved all my Playstation systems EXCEPT the 5. I've been mostly disappointed, my year in review shows I even skipped playing it entirely for months. I don't think I've EVER done that with a system unless I retired it.

Get used to it, watching TV via streaming s is how it’s done now.
They only have all of that stuff to jack up the price and I do stream TV. I just don't need it built into the TV, slowing it down with bloat. You can get $20-40 streaming sticks to stream just as good as anything a TV can do. My laptop has way better streaming capabilities than a TV as well.

Sony are one of the most anti-consumer companies out there.
Other than PlayStation I never intend to buy a Sony product again.
