You see colors in everything around you, every moment of the day - but do you ever stop to think about the impact each of those colors is having on you?
Color meanings stem from psychological effects, biological conditioning and cultural developments. Some color meanings are deeply rooted in our brains while others change over time and are different from culture to culture

Take a moment to think of Nintendo, Playstation and Xbox - the colors they use and their logos, what feelings and messages do those brands convey to you?

Edit: I've added more colors.

It would be a nice way to see how a brand can or not have different meanings, to different people.
Also to those who are color blind, my apologies but maybe it is not all about color but an accumulation of personal experiences. The shapes used in the logos does also convey messages.

I will start:

Nintendo - Passionate, Conservative

Playstation - Creativity, Stability

Xbox - Power, Wealth, Connectivity

I think the most famous one, that most people know, is that McDonald's picked red and gold because those colors make people hungry. Fascinating stuff!

yes, gold usually conveys the impression of being expensive or an unique experience. Then after all the backlash how fast food was bad, they choose green to imply their food was healthy.

IIRC, MS uses green because when they were in the planning stages of the OG Xbox, everything was done in green markers.

This shit is too deep for me. The biggest thing color determines in gaming for me is what kind of console I want, geared more towards my personal tastes. Traditionally, I've found Playstation stuff the classiest because it uses opposing values primarily. White, black, grey. Simple, not needlessly avant garde. Even the PS5 has stopped looking like a piece of alien technology to me because of its color scheme and how much attention it doesn't draw to itself.

Nintendo has always struck me as more youth conscious because they've traditionally always had the vibrant "fun," colors for their hardware.

As far as the logo color, idfk and idfc.

Ouja or whatever that bullshit thing was purple.. Stadia is hot pink... it's more about just brand identity and separation from the next guy. Sony initially had a weird gray/multi colored logo and then evolved into blue when xbox came on the scene (if I recall correctly.)

That is not quite true. Depends on what the client wants. If he wants a purple logo with green dots you will have to explain their meaning therefore we mostly of the time end up have logos using the same colors.

Yes colorful logo convey playful then Sony tried to "grow" up, changed it to red then to blue. Now it is white and black.

I assume this is some brand for food? The smile and child features convey trust and that maybe the product is made for children, a product that a mother can trust to give their children.

Oh yeah, I forgot that at first they had that black text on a red background for the disc packaging lol. I feel like they went back to blue when the Slim model came out.

It really does look like a cookie company lol. It looks like it's going for that kind of nostalgic 1950s US vibe, but I don't know the history of the logo. Looks a bit like Pippi Longstocking as well, which I guess was around since 1944. Going for family friendly vibes for sure.

I dont do Wendy's often, but when I do it's a Single's combo on deal plus a $1 Frosty.

Typically represents grass on flags, and on last decades sustainability (prob greenpeace having a dent there).
I prefer metalic grey for everything anyways. Apple got it right.

I prefer metalic grey for everything anyways. Apple got it right.

Green is one of those colors that has a lot of meanings because it is nature. yes even the Portuguese flag uses green - hope.

Metalic is one of those textures that convey luxury and elegance. it is the more "expensive" way of white.

You look at it and you know is about! Feels playful, informal and creative.

All logos are becoming simple and monochromatic. Look at the brands of cars...It is all due to scaling of the web and apps. A black and white logo fits everywhere while a complicated one if resized to a smaller size will look bad.
