I won’t even attribute the fall to journie group think, people just didn’t want to was being made at any time. It was popular because of access.

When the business model became shitting on the majority of the customer base the legacy gaming media doomed itself. It was sad to see. It was even sadder to watch so many developers (who listen to these fools) lose their job and miss out on profit related bonuses for being unable to recognize something so very simple and obvious.

Shocked Pikachu “games journalists” out there still baffled that their jobs evaporated after they spent a decade openly hating their own audience. Meanwhile gamers who are passionate about games and making content about games are somehow doing just fine.

Well, they represent Gamespot, ign, giant bomb and other sites, it's obvious when there is something worthy that should've been covered but they chose to keep it hidden for whatever reason. but now, we got youtube and streamers who did a good job and journalists cry about their old trends cause they've got no backup plan.

Traditional media has lost the ability to control public perception. You see journalists melting down all over the place because the public isn't listening to them any more. Now that everyone has real time access to everything happening in the world and the people who talk about it are harder to censor nobody needs to be told what to think. And it's eating them up.

i remember a time when journalists had to buy the games they reviewed meaning all these fake dev bought reviews was a lot less common, any sane gamer now certainly wouldn’t get their news from one of these shills peddling identity politics and a whole pile of isms.

Reviews from the usual sources just feel like paid propaganda anyway. Happy to watch it all crash & burn as if you have a working brain you can use your own gaming experience & tastes to figure out if something is good or not. Professional (lol) gaming journalism really doesn’t have a place anymore, gamers can do it themselves on YouTube.

In gaming sites you got so many shills, political idiots, 6-10 scale reviews, writers battling users on social media etc...

How come when it comes to movie critics, it seems they dont cave in, can rate movies dreadful giving 1 star reviews, dont seem to push personal politics into their reviews and dont get into heated pissing matches with movie users?
