If you strip out encounters, or make them easier to beat then the sense of accomplishment for finally triumphing over an infernal beast is lost. Give them guidance and fair warning as to what they are getting themselves into but don't give them a water down experience.

I think hes just saying to have a custom area, something like just right out of Dark Souls 1, and let a player run through a few areas, fight a couple of bosses, with extra guidance, timing help for parrying/backstabs and whatnot. You could even lay some weapons around so players can try out different weapons and see the benefits of them. It would speed someone up on the franchise who has not touched it, and limit 'easier' play to this special tutorial area, instead of touching the main game.
Yes, I suspect most people asking for an easy mode didn't play it enough to see why it doesn't make sense. You'd have to have each type of players only playing with people on that difficulty.
The best idea is still better mechanics explanations/tutorials, to ease people into it.
No. I think they should be on the same server. The easy mode players should just get massacred every time they bump into someone from the normal game
I would kill for a WiiU version of souls, with real time weapon switching. I don't think it would change the game too much. It might even make it harder.
I see. I am just wondering how much work they would have to do to scale a player from noobie to being able to handle Dark Souls proper. It would be a little like making a mini version of the game and then trying to work in a difficulty curve that ends with players starting the game for real. Could be great if they can pull it off. What they should do is something like Dragon's Dogma and give new players the chance to summon guides to help them out. Seasoned players than are actually helpful and not utter back-stabbing jerks.![]()

It's not much of one though. Many, many things are not explained from the simple messages that essentially just go over controls. So many stats on weapons, shields, armors, that are just never clearly explained. Like what stability does on a shield and how it's so great.

Then DA2 happened, ME2 was fine but all their ambition rolled out the window, and then we got trolled with ME3 overhearing quests, multiplayer and WTF endings.A shame, they seemed nigh untouchable a decade ago. Well, with KotOR I think it goes back to that middle ground between accessibility and staying hardcore, and while some of KotOR's steps probably weren't strictly necessary it nevertheless did give people who played mainly on consoles (myself included) a taste of what they brought to PC. Dragon Age 2 seems to me like taking that too far. I feel the best thing for Bioware would be to maybe not release a game this year, and just regain their thoughts. Kinda like Bethesda does, I'm not a fan of what they do but at least they manage to do it well, Bioware just feels lost.

The amount of people I know who went to the graveyard first is staggering. While I did eventually find out crestfallen tells you where to go, it would be nice to not have access to such a hard area off the bat in a game you know is supposed to be hard. I know people who restarted, people who quit, just because they ended up going there.
I know I did my first time, but then I tried every other way until I found the right way. The first enemies are a giant joke compared to the damn skeletons, but it's hard to know that was the wrong way. Especially since a lot of games have skeletons as the first basic enemy.
Just read the Dark Souls II Wii U petition.
I hope these people realize that From and Namco can't really do anything about it till Sony update PhyreEngine and add Wii U support to the engine.

I will say this... If there has to be an extended Tutorial in Dark Souls 2, it has to end with being punched in the face by a giant fucking Dragon and dying.
