Without researching this at ALL (super slammed at work) it soiunds like the D3 armory, which I used all the time. The wrinkle is all the aspects, but yeah, like you all mentioned, it is better than nothing!

Lord ol mighty these devs have 0 passion, intelligence or creativity. It’s just purple helltides instead of red.

This game is doomed. New record. Hit level 9 and done with season.

D4Bad.

That's a shame, at least there is still Path and I think there is an upcoming feature release for Last Epoc (I think I read that somewhere).

Anyway, hope you find something to bounce too, I hate getting amped up for stuff like this and then it fizzles for me, so I can understand the frustration.

Yeah, it really is just more Diablo IV, although iteratively better and with more QoL - and that's not a bad thing imo. Seasons are still driving the game systems forward incrementally, although I'd still want to see a lot more endgame stuff, like Monoliths/Atlas or something. Curbstomping the few bosses for drops is not just a fun activity, and the only use you would even have for the gear you grind for is pushing Pit which is dreadfully boring and unrewarding.

Got the premium season pass and the 1st horse unlock alone was worth it. The wightscale horse looks awesome. I am reminded of how much better the cosmetics are with D4.

Initial impressions of S7 so far:
I hit level 40 last night (or very close to it) after about 2 hours of play time but I have no idea what the season theme is and have no season progression at this point :).

Started a new character on Hard difficulty.
I walked out side of Kyovashad and I spammed two attacks (bone spear and corpse explosion) and was easily into my 30's within a hour and 1/2.
This is the lowest effort I have put into leveling a character in any arpg. At least when I get carried I have to try to dodge enemies that are 40 levels higher than my character...here I just stood still and wave after wave after wave of monsters just kept spawning.

I have not been able to do a lot of research on the season mechanics (outside of reading the posts in this thread I only knew it was called "Season of the Witch" and they added in their armory) but are there significant changes to end game I don't know about?
It feels like I am being pushed to max level very quickly but outside of the season mechanic (getting max powers) is there just the Pit to clear?

I might roll a new character and just take my time if there isn't anything in endgame (that I am not aware of) that is going to be a huge time sink.

Rentahamster Rentahamster you said it was easy....holy SMOKES you were not lying about that.

Nope lol. There's one new Nightmare Dungeon-esque dungeon types called Rootholds, and that's about it as far as I can tell.

Seems like it.

Yeah at this point, I'm not exactly sure what the devs are thinking with their tuning. As I've said before in my comments about game design, I never really liked Diablo 4's decision to acknowledge that their leveling process sucked, but instead of making it better, they let you "find the fun faster" by making the leveling process faster. It's kind of a joke now.

So far, I got up to Torment 2 with Necro, trying to do some off-meta minion configurations. Then I got up to Torment 1 with a Rogue testing out Dance of Knives. Didn't take much time or effort at all, even while playing unoptimally.

The rogue was going to be my next choice as well...but now that I see how quick progression is I might roll another Druid. Pacing was always my issue with that class and its seems like that isn't an issue at all in this patch. I look forward to collecting the powers and theory crafting a bit there but we will see how long I can hang in there.

One thing that I didn't mention yet is that the loot drops this season are crazy. It's way too much to the point gear has little meaning before level 60 and my screen is full of way too much crap on the ground.

100% with you here. The amount of items I just don't touch is crazy. This could also be an unfair comparison based on my time with POE2 over the last two months.

There I am starved for progress/resources/equipment (thank GOD for the neogaf guild stash) and there are difficult battles in each of the Acts I have completed.

I am paragon 170+ and still haven't seen 1 alter, even with the potion. Not complaining though, stuff is kind of too easy these days.

I kind of want to play this season, just because I've played every season to this point, but... it doesn't look too compelling.

Also what happened to Trials? Did that finally return or was it just a much hyped feature that is dead? Wasn't even accessible last season.

GAME UPDATES

  • Elite monsters and Cocoons in Headunts and Rootholds now will drop more Restless Rot and less items.
    • Rewards from Major and Minor Rewards in Rootholds remain unchanged.
    • Developer’s Note: We have received feedback that the amount of equipment dropped in Seasonal Activities is overwhelming and the amount of Restless Rot gain is slower than desired. We have made these adjustments so players can spend more time hunting the Headless and less time sifting through items.
BUG FIXES

  • Fixed an issue where the Force of Will Witch Power could lead to infinitely scaling Overpower Damage.
  • Fixed an issue where the Hex of Whispers Witch Power could cause a server crash, Hex of Whispers is now useable again.

Oh thank god hopefully this feels better.

After having a lot of fun with autobomber builds in Path of Exile 2, I tried to see if there's anything like that in Diablo 4, and you can actually create a self sustaining chain of spells without Fractured Winterglass. I just used it to level on a sorc and it was pretty good. Basically you use Stable Aspect on a two hander, and Aspect of Overwhelming Currents on your amulet, and use Charged Bolt enchantment.

Those two aspects combined creates a self sustaining loop of lighting spells as long as there are enough mobs around.

Every time you stun an enemy, there's a 40% chance that Charged Bolts is cast. That can trigger more lightning spells.
I also used Lightning Familiar since they stun, and tempered Familiar Duration on my jewelry, and chance to stun on the gear that supports it.

So the Lightning Familiars stun enemies, which makes charged bolts, which generates more Familiars, Lightning spears, Sparks, Ball Lightnings, Charged Bolts, and Chain Lightnings, which stuns, and so on.

For single target DPS and to prevent mana issues, I also used the basic attack Spark combined with Hectic Aspect and Aspect of the Moonrise.

I showed it off to Codeblew Codeblew it was cool

So far with testing, it cleared Pit 27 in about 5 minutes with no Paragons enabled yet.

What build did you use? I used Dance of Knives to spin to win for leveling and up to torment 4, but the damage really falls off around then.

Pretty fun and efficient speed farm build.
Yeah that's what I have been using the entire time.

My XP rotation could use some work, I should already be 60 at the 3 hour mark but I am shy about 15 levels. I am not optimizing the seasonal mechanic, elixirs, and helltides.

Apparently you can invite friends when you find an altar and it will work for them as well?
I haven't found any yet lol
Got to T4 with a DoK Rogue and will probably switch to a Death Trap spec as dmg is too dependant on Shadow Clone now.

It's interesting to compare Raxx's feedback with Wudijo's since the spent different amounts of time on the game.

I love the new seasonal events and the witch powers made my new rogue super deadly. Sadly I don't care for any of the seasonal battle pass unlockables. Just doesn't fit what I'm doing with any of my characters. I haven't clicked all the way through. Maybe I'll get a cool portal out of it at least.

I'm playing around with Dance of Blades, Twisting Blades and poison or shadow infusion. That key passive really wrecks shop when you mix 2 non physical damages. This is one of the more fun classes I've played. Takes a lot of clicking and button presses to get shit done. Nice change of pace from Charge Barb.
