Digital Foundry: Monster Hunter Wilds - PS5 Pro Tech Review - The Best Way To Play On Consoles

TintoConCasera

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
PS5 Pro folks eating good, it managed to cleanup this unoptimized shit.
Don't be so complacent my fellow console man, it should run way better everywhere and that includes the Pro as well.

I sure hope Capcom get their shit together. Onimusha will probably be fine but their open worlds are a mess.

This is really nice

If i had not moved to Steam for all third party I would definately have bought a ps5pro after this video!

Quite the contrast with Series S 😬

not buying base Sony consoles anymore thats for sure, locking better tech to the pro version is such a bad practice imo, its like Nvidia with their DLSS
PSSR is a hardware based solution, it’s flat out impossible to run on the base consoles. Also like, fundamentally, “Pro” SKU devices will have better tech.. that’s the entire point.

I just glanced at steam top 10 gpus .. PC market is full of broke peeps like you with setups lesser than base PS5 let alone PS5 Pro

Lol
and yet we "broke peeps" can have better experience on gaming than you on your mighty console, tell me the last time u played an old game with better resolution and frame rate without the need to beg for a next gen patch ? or the last time you moded a game on your console ? emulate a game ?

Its a better experience in your imagination only.

Also with RTX2060 tell me the last time you played a NEW game at a setting better than PS5 let alone PS5Pro!

Why the fuck are you in a Pro thread saying you won’t buy the Pro anymore (when you never intended to) and talking about an RTX 2060?
its wasn't me who started the RTX conversation and i cant speak of my frustration as a PS5 owner for feeling let down by Sony locking PSSR to only pro users ? you guys have such a fragile ego... geez

Seems to be a clearer win for the Pro than I anticipated. They didn't screw it up. Phew!

Now I'm tempted to wait till PS6 is out so I can brute force resolution mode and play with all the expansions and tweaks. Hmmmm…

It has a chip like nvidia did on the RTX GPU to handle the PSSR like how DLSS work. It's not like FSR. So what's the problem? What about RTX 1000 owners when the 2000 series came out?

But you made your feelings about the Pro abundantly clear in your very first response...as you did several times before with gems such as these:

man, Pro is the worst deal in gaming story and PSSR is a joke
This was in regards to KCDII, a competent Pro upgrade.

And this:
even my RTX 2060 super runs Cyberpunk Path Traced better than PS5 pro.
all those games run just fine on PS5, PS5 pro looks like a big waste of money right now.

You've expressed your dissatisfaction with the Pro before it was even released. Are you truly showing your "frustration" with the Pro or just trolling the owners? It wouldn't be so bad if you at least explained your gripes with each game thread, but you just do cheapass drive-by posts that are so vague you probably didn't watch the videos and just wanted to antagonize people.

Thing is, this PS5 Pro has grown to be something I love and it definitely puts me in a higher tier of gaming quality than base PS5 owners and for newer games even PC(especially if there is ANY microstutter in the PC version which has plagued the platform lately but isn't on PS5). It was worth every penny. Don't forget GTAVI is probably also not releasing day and date on PC, so Pro will get even BETTER as time goes by. Yall fucked up not buying one. Game is like an 85/100 quality on PS5 but a 90/100 quality on PS5 Pro on launch and it will only get better on Pro. Also, remember when they LIED constantly and desperately to you and told you that PS5 Pro wouldn't provide frame rate boost? Funny times.

Yeah seems to be an FF7 Rebirth situation all over again

Need the Pro to play a competent 60fps version
At least it's better than the PS4 pro situation which people remember fondly for whatever reason. I also upgraded to a pro back then for World which got me out of the sub-30 framerate and into the 40-45 no-mans land while also looking the same. There was a resolution mode too, but it was unlocked 30 and FPS would still dip in the 20s. I guess we've come a long way since then.

Shouldn't you be busy with all your modded and emulated games on your "mighty" pc?? Waiting for the shaders to compile or something lol

4k DLSS Performance = 1080p
1440p DLSS Quality = 960p
1080p DLSS Quality = 720p

lol ?
output being 1080p is the funny part

not the actual rendering resolution. there's a massive image quality difference between native 1080p dlaa and 4k dlss performance for example. a game running at 1080p output on ps5 pro is funny to me. i wouldn't mind if it actually run at 4k pssr performance

Okay, watched this on my tv:

It looks fugly.

Glad I didn't pre-order it yet. Hard pass.
Wasn't expecting amazing graphics, but this is sub-par 4 years into current-gen.

It's funny because that's not what they saying.

This is a conclusion of "rendering resolution", not a "native 1080p output"...
Rendering all frame at 1920x1080 then reconstruct to 3840x2160, like DLSS, like FSR 2/3, like XeSS, like..... PSSR.... (shocked)

Are you going to continue to have some complex now that's a game console can doing IA Upscaling?

We don't specify on PC (even if in my opinion Digital Foudry SHOULD), because there are a multitude of resolutions and therefore listing them all is complicated.

But in any case, it works the same way. Knowing that the PS5 Pro (and PS5) has a 2160p output, it doesn't matter if you select 720p, 1080i, 1080p or 1440p in the console interface.

Still seeing pop in on Pro in frame rate mode. All the money in the world isn't going to get you a perfect visual game, so why bother? All this stuff is just cherry picking and focus on things that don't really matter when in action.

Honestly, the price isn't a problem for me with the Pro, it's just the thought of not being able to find a physical drive that's the issue for me. I think I'll try to find a drive in the wild before I'd buy the digital Pro cib.

Genuine question. Do you really think they could have implemented PSSR on 2020 hardware that would have been designed around 2018 based on rDNA 2 for £450 ?

a RTX 2060 owner ll run this game with better IQ than a PS5 owner

Yeah, stop saying bullshit.
You're 2060 have only 6 GB, you're a just select Medium Setting (DLSS Performance) and profit the game at 540p on your 1080p screen.

Show us a benchmark with 2060, we gonna laugh.

720p = 40fps = High setting
540p = 46fps = Medium setting, here we go...
360p = 58fps = Low setting

Just, lmao...

Pretty sure according to Capcom it's 1080p scaled to 4k pssr? Looks clean did you watch video? DF guy seemed confused

Pro delivers a big upgrade over the base PS5 version which looks absolutely ugly in frame rate mode.
PSSR does a really good job compared to FSR.

I think I'll play in 40fps capped mode (when I'm done with KCD2) , it's the perfect compromise for my tastes like in other games and imo the ray traced reflections add a lot to what generally are unremarkable graphics.

Capcom needs to find a way to overhaul the RE engine if they want to use it for open world games because this is clearly not working for them, a game like Horizon Forbidden West looks 1.5 generations ahead and it's cross gen.

If only they use Decima engine. They should have partnered with Sony. But anyway what matters most is MHW will have excellent gameplay and allot of content.
