Do you think Nintendo releases Mario Kart at launch to avoid the Switch Desaster?

You mean they don't want a "Switch U" ...
Maybe. I would still suspect that switch 2 will be a failure, because they can't repeat the "switch"-surprise feeling. It will just be a more powerful switch after all (IMHO).

They are avoiding scalping by producing huge amounts before launch, hence all the leaks.

That team also made MK Tour and Arms in the last 10 years.
Yeah, Arms wouldn’t have impacted that it all goes that was finished like eight years ago. Tour probably wasn’t that big of a project. But Nintendo moves people back-and-forth across teams for different games all the time so who really knows

Yes that was more to Rat Rage's point that they'd only done a port in 10 years. And you're right that most Nintendo EPD groups draw from the same pool of developers.

I do think Tour and the DLC took up a lot of time, and I would be surprised if MK9 didn't have at least 3 years of development time.

In what world was the Switch a desaster? Even with the scalpers at launch, that was minor and an easy fix they are paying attention to.

Doesn't matter. Switch 2 is cooked. Switch 2 has nothing to offer that a Steam Deck doesn.t And if you say Pokemon, i'll laugh. Pokemon has been surplanted by Palworld.

New Mario Kart title at launch looks like given it's appearance in the official Switch 2 trailer. But with the Switch 2 being backwards compatible, the launch line-up isn't a huge deal for me.
I'm happy to pop-up Tears of the Kingdom etc and (hopefully) see some technical improvements.

It'll be April 2nd (Nintendo Direct for Switch 2) soon enough.

Apart from everything else that's wrong with the premise of this topic, why would you think console manufacturers care about scalping so much?

Consumers care, sure. The makers of a product just want it to sell. Who it sells to is not that important. When their new product sells out at launch, that's not a disaster, that's the goal.

I think the explanation here is very easy. Mario Kart is one of the games with the highest attach rate per Nintendo console usually. And - it has legs. It's not one of those games which relies on its first 3 months of sales. So it's fairly easy to understand why it can be safely launched with 0 install base.

So OP you're a bit off

The reason it won't be a "failure" is because they are learning more towards the current meta... focusing on the ecosystem, which yes includes cross-gen.

People can adjust to Switch 2 in their own time... just like Switch OLED or Switch lite, the accounts and games function on all of them and Switch 2 will be in many ways no different. This guy will tell you exactly why ----v

Yes. Again... ecosystem.

I likely will not buy at launch, but it's just a matter of time before I do upgrade.
