Hey everyone!

We’re back with another update, including the full specifications of Dragon Age: The Veilguard and preload times. We’ve designed our game with flexibility in mind, from the settings and accessibility options to your in-game Rook, the companions you take with you, and choices you can make.

Our detailed specifications include settings for both Ray Tracing on and Ray Tracing off, so that players can know what to expect for launch. Players with high-end rigs will be able to take advantage of our suite of Ray Tracing features and uncapped frame rates. For the minimum PC specs, we focused on making the game as accessible to as many people as possible. For consoles (Playstation 5 & Xbox Series X|S), there will be fidelity and performance modes, targeting 30 and 60 FPS respectively. Dragon Age: The Veilguard will also be specifically enhanced for PlayStation 5 Pro; check out a quote from our Technical Director below.

We are excited to see how Dragon Age: The Veilguard will lean into the power that PS5 Pro unlocks for players. Whether you love deep progression, strategic combat, or diving into the lore of Dragon Age, you will immediately notice the improved experience with PS5 Pro. The game’s Fidelity and Performance modes will both see improvements on the hardware, including improved resolution in 30FPS Fidelity and 60FPS Performance modes. Additionally, there will be various improved visual settings across 30FPS Fidelity and 60FPS Performance mode.
The team at BioWare is proud of how immersed players will be when they enter the beautiful world of Thedas, with upgraded image quality thanks to Sony’s new AI-based upscaler, PSSR. We’ve enabled Raytraced Ambient Occlusion (RTAO) in the 60FPS Performance mode, which previously was only available on the base PlayStation 5 with 30FPS Fidelity mode.

As you prepare for October 31st, please find the preload times for each platform below. Dragon Age: The Veilguard won’t include any 3rd party DRM (such as Denuvo) on any platform. The lack of DRM means that there will be no preload period for PC players.

  • Xbox Series X|S: October 14th 9AM PDT
  • Playstation 5: October 29th 9AM PDT
  • PC: No preload, the game will be downloadable and playable on launch day October 31st, 9AM PDT

Are the performances without upscalers?

Looks rather demanding and made me curious about their original gameplay trailer that was claimed to run on PS5

So I’m a little confused, but they are saying they have a performance and a fidelity mode even for PS5 pro.
 
Wait those shitty cartoon graphics and it requires an i9 or a Ryzen 3700x for recommended specs? what?
I have played every game recommended specs at 1080p with my Ryzen 3600 and geforce 3060ti, and never had issues, even top end games like cyberpunk with rtx on.

I could understand if the game looked the part, but this game looks like a cartoon version of da and is not technically impressive.

They do. I recon that the fidelity mode will have most pc RT features. Ps5 pro performance mode only have RTAO.

1 of the combat videos looked really great.

But on the flip side you have to look at those mutant people with the horns on the regular.

I'm definitely playing it in a year when it hits GP / EA Play. I would expect some moments that show off the big budget and some fun combat but story to be mostly garbage; but you never know. I didn't even bother with Inquisition.

Yep everything looks good!

But something tells me this will be the kind of game that reviews with low 80's just cause media doesn't want to bash it.

Then after a couple weeks the word of mouth will be that's a 6-7 game at best

Hope i'm wrong tho

Yeah doing RT at 4K without DLSS is kinda stupid.

In any event requirements look pretty normal outside of that, I just have a sneaking suspicion the game is gonna be shit.

I think this is the real epitome of the division of the gaming industry. On one hand, folks want to offer good customer friendly experience like what this game is doing here; on the other hand, its designs are clearly filled with political driven decisions.

I honestly don't know how I should feel about this game, as a big fan of DA series. Waiting for the reviews.

The story and characters are my biggest concerns. I fully expect the IGNs and Gamespots to claim it’s good, but I won’t trust them. I need some honest to goodness impressions from real people.

The pro will run at a higher internal res with RTAO upscale with PSSR to 4k for performance mode. Fidelity mode will be higher res with maybr another RT feature compare to the base ps5.

I hope they add the 40fps with lower internal res and keep all the 30fps RT and graphics setting.

Where are you getting this from? It wont be 1080p in quality mode lol

Alex counting pixel from DF weekly. 1080p 30fps with both RT features is reasonable for the base ps5. Of course those RT will be at the lower end.

They shouldnt force RT on base PS5 then. Thankfully im playing this on the Pro

I wasn't planning on getting this; however, I want to support bigger studios who either release games without DRM or remove DRM after a year. I tend to like RPGs and will more then likely pick it up.

Well, image quality wise from sony state of play, it looks OK. The performance mode is where I am curious. Will it look bad with sub 800p upscale with FSR2?

My experience with RTAO is that it's a HUGE waste of resources. Even more of a waste than RT Shadows. Raytracing is pretty much RTGI or bust. Reflections are worth it every now and then.

Disagree. RTAO can add a lot of depth to scenes and can make a big difference
