Dusk Golem: Capcom wants RE9 to reach a level of critical success to get a 90+ critical score

Perhaps I should have been clearer in what I wrote, if they want to break free from the Mikami/Kamiya legacy then they should be aiming *higher*, 95+, that's how you really know they've succeeded. Either way I don't care about the scores, there day 1 for any RE.
Trying to achieve a 95+ in our current climate? Unless you're literally Nintendo, you're better off winning the lottery.

What they need is to bring back the protagonist (any of them) and have a memorable new setting with a mix of action/horror in a third person setting. I have a hard time imagining them hitting those highs with a first person RE.

Moronic goal, given the current status of videogame media.

Even if they weren't what they are, it would still be stupid, because the only thing that matters is sales.

If we were going to see it soon, it would have been shown during Capcoms TGS show today. Next possibility is at the game awards at the end of the year

Unfortunately they can't just ignore the opinion of the critics, for many its still a metric of quality

For example,RE6 sold a lot, but Capcom was displeased with the metacritic reception(and the mixed fan reception), it convinced them to change course

How exactly does "Dusk Golem" know exactly what goals that Capcom has in relation to a game? That tweet reeks of bullshit. These guys just make up whatever they want. Not like there's any fact-checking on Twitter...

I trust them. They are on fire. Keep everything from RE2R and RE4R and keep improving on it and you got it. Should be 3rd person imo (although i haven't played the 1st person ones yet so idk how different they feel), works better for such loveable characters.

He got right some info on REVillage before it was revealed, but also gets other things wrong, most of the time he tweets vague,or very basic stuff that anybody could guess

Getting info on a game release is a far cry from telling us exactly what executives are thinking and planning. Is he a mole in their budget meetings? I doubt it.

Yeah, that seems to be case. Especially since "they want a 90 on Metascore" isn't really a bold statement since obviously every company wants to get high scores on their games. Frankly it's a strange statement...does this mean that for previous RE games that Capcom DIDN'T want a high score? Obviously they want it for everything they release.

I'm shocked that Village isn't 90+. I mean, reviewers are turds at best but all the same, Village is so freaking good and it even runs great on PS4. Easily my favorite RE post-fixed camera era. It's also one of the best VR titles available.

I'm excited for 9.

The RE fanbase is too diferent for a game to be liked by most of the fans while getting a 9.

Without the remakes , RE is nothing. RE is basically the Raccoon city era, that's why they were focusing on the main characters for a while. The characters getting older and not being more games to remake, is certainly making Capcom wonder what can they do to keep the franchise from being irrelevant.

They can't even make a proper multiplayer game. The franchise didn't create new enemies or new main characters, it's still using the same cast from the original trilogy.

Village was weak and the DLC up there with some of the worst shit in the series. I also hope the next one is a certified fucking banger because I'm close to checked out of the franchise and wouldn't have even bought Village if I hadn't been swept up in the remake high.

Please don't be a Jill game. I'm over her after RE3make ruined the character. I'll take literally anyone else.

You want 90+? Make it third person and bring back Leon.
Cause Chris is the Broly of Resident Evil, the Ape guy, and Leon is Goku who everyone give credit for whatever he does.

Capcom needs to slow down, already talking 90+ scores? Who even is RE9? Racoon city? What direction are they taking? Action? Re4 was more dynamic than RE 1-3 and RE4 was about playing over the shoulder speedy gameplay against zombies, RE7-8 reset all of that.

Well, in that case they should make a bigger effort to make all areas in the game interesting. I am thinking about RE8, the castle was great, but everything afterwards was just not that great.

Think about RE4, yes some people will complain about the island, but even the island was so much better than some areas in 8.
