Yeah it looked like an actual art designed planet.
Oh, let's not be silly here.

Oh, let's not be silly here.Expecting a more or less bog standard planet with the usual ice cream mountains, but actual handmade meshes put on it, just like engineer bases. Add the haze effect, so you can only make out the silhouette and voila, we have the teaser environment. Looks good though!
Yep, looked to be new "spike" kits on a cobra and (I think) an asp. What was that mean spiky looking kit for the Cobra?? Is that new?
Sandro confirms that EVA/Space Legs is FAR away. Says "it's basically like adding a whole new game" but Braben has always wanted it and they want to do it right.
Also getting a LOT of questions on the convenience of telepresence as a gameplay mechanism, haha.
I really just can't get excited about seeing any of that, because you just know that the only way we will be able to find or see any of it is by being told where to go directly by CG's or engineer missions, because without actual exploration mechanics which allow pilots to actually find stuff out in the deep of space Frontier will simply have to hold our hands, guide us, or force it on us by "flipping a switch".
And those spikey things on the ships, who knows what they are, but more than likely it will be new engineer stuff we'll have to grind out to gain access to.
I'm just not super enthused about Elite Dangerous anymore, there's nothing to look forward to, no hope left in me. I'm sure the game will someday get developed in the ways I'd like it to be, I just don't see Frontier putting any effort into doing it anytime soon.![]()

I sat at some station on lockdown waiting for some rare good to bring to an engineer. I didn't feel like flying away and flying back so I just logged in once a day until I could buy what I needed. It took 3 days.
Amen. Future of No Man's Sky is brighter than Elite right now. And that's fucked up.
I think at this point, we *need* to see some of Elite's roadmap. We're already behind schedule with Season 2 and talk of Space Legs sounds like it's at least a year away. We don't even know what to look forward to.

Yay for more Frontier Store content?
If they spent half as much time developing exploration as they do for store content I'd be a very happy customer.
Where is the ambition for Elite? CIG is trying too much and will fail delivering on everytnhing but damn Frontier, I don't feel it anymore. Are they still excited about their game??
I loved the flight model and controls so much at first, but then after a while I realized I didn,t care about anything in the game. I think they made a mistake using PG to create bases - there are too many of them, none feel important.
The added grind with Engineers also kind of killed my interest.
I also always expected them to beat the competition in the PG worlds simulation (Braben hype). Now that I see what CIG is doing - the planets look so good and alive - I must say Frontier's PG tech looks quite dated.
I know SC planetary landing isn't playable yet but damn does it look good and ambitious. I could explore one planet like this for days and have more fun than scanning solar systems.

At this point, I'm just a little baffled at what they've been working on.
If I had to wager a guess, I'd say the majority of Frontier has been working on Planet Coaster and the yet unnamed worldwide franchise game they've been awarded. Elite's development has both fallen behind schedule AND suffered from reduced feature implementation and scope. The game has either proven much more difficult to work on, or they moved personnel elsewhere.

Sandro himself said multi-crew doesn't have more roles because they lacked time and resources, it's pretty clear their main staff are on other projects.
I'd be very surprised if they ended up doing this season model again.
I asked if I could transfer between PC and XB1 last year, never got a response to my question. So I guess that Frontier isn't offering such a service. Might be worth a try though.Anyone know if it will be possible to use my XBO account on my PS4?
My XBO is no longer my main platform, as I have a PS4 Pro, and ED is pretty much the only thing I still play on the XBO, if I could use my XBO account on my PS4, I could dump my XBO.
I FEEL like they have offered that for PC>X1 but I can't remember :-\
I haven't played ED in a while or paid much attention to news for it. Saw this bump and was hoping I've missed out on awesome updates but I guess not![]()

Anton that whole post is depressing as hell.
Anton that whole post is depressing as hell.
The community won't survive this piecemeal barely functional framework bullshit for another season.
Anton that whole post is depressing as hell.
Frontier can't even add colors and variety to lifeless worlds even a quarter as good as the one man making Space Engine can, there ain't no way we are seeing anything even remotely resembling Anton's pics within the next three years. Maybe in five years if we are very lucky. Frontier will have to wait for gaming tech to advance a LOT before they can brute force their Cobra engine to do anything like that. And even then, it won't look like that.
This is one area where Star Citizen will probably catch and surpass Elite. They seem to be much farther along with interesting planets, and their engine seems much better equipped to handle it.
Exactly lol
Crew members now have access to the helm's exploration data while part of a crew, however, crew members will not gain any new exploration data earned while part of the crew
Balanced Orca by lowering the weight, making it faster with bigger jump distance
Rebalanced ships: DBX now has an extra size 2 slot and is a bit lighter, Asp Scout has a new size 2 slot and a size 5 slot replacing one of it's size 4 ones. Beluga mass brought more in line with other large ships to help FSD range
Balance pass on the Federal Condor, increasing it's transverse acceleration from 10 to 20
New DBX hull mass is 260T. Max range (unengineered) is about 38.04. This is with a scanner, no DSS or SRV. Really good actually. 36.98 with shield, srv and DSS.
Fully engineered explorer build 54.06 with +47% optimal mass, lightweight everything else. With 2D distributor for boosting. If it had a good fuel scoop it would dethrone the AspX. Pretty much perfect roll gives 55.22Ly. You could probably squeeze 57 with better rolls in FSD and lightweight stuff.
Some highlights--like this FU to multicrew exploration, if anyone ever wanted to do it:
I'm not sure what you mean, but FDev can't easily do anything else.
You are exploring in remote space.. I drop in whilst you explore, then I drop out and sell the exploration data... I would get my name registered as the discoverer of those system. It would also lead to players 'gaming' any exploration CG.
My own feeling is that careers (and supercruise activities) generally need a rethink, but that certainly isn't going to be part of 2.3.
