Extas1s: First Details on The Elder Scrolls VI, titled Hammerfell

Starfield was an unmitigated disaster just like every other game Bethesda made over the last decade but surely somehow the next Elder Scrolls will be exactly what everyone wants.

It's a weird, sad feeling that I want to be hyped for the next Elder Scrolls so much, yet most of the team who made Oblivion and Skyrim (and I hear, Morrowind) so excellent are long gone. I really want a new entry, but safer might be an Oblivion remake that changes the leveling system and improves the procedurally generated dungeons (and damn Oblivion gates) a bit would be my dream WRPG. I absolutely love the quests, the world, and everything else about that game.

Ever since Fallout 4, Bethesda seems to be obsessed with letting players build shit.
First it was settlement building in F4, then ship and outpost building in Starfield.
I guess they wont give up with that in TESVI.

It's easily my least favorite aspect of their games. It's slow, sluggish and buggy mechanic that once they have it in their engine now, they will never let go of.
Also it makes them lazy. Pretty much all player houses in F4 and Starfield are just empty and the devs are like "Well, get to work, fucker. Did you think we would actually decorate the house for you? Fuck you."
My "dream house" in Starfield had 1 bed and 4 containers cause I just hate the building aspect so much I never decorated it.

Game is going to be more immersive, with fast loading times

  • Game will have naval battles, ship building (inspired by Starfield) and marine/underwater exploration, explorable islands off coast.
  • Game to have Fortress and Village building alongside settlement building.
Please no. That shit already was fucking ass in Fallout 4 (and actually torpedoed their main story line). I just want some cool-ass fucking adventures in a cool world. Keep that Minecraft shit out.

I hate that their retarded building system was apparently "such a hit" in Fallout 4 that they decided to cram that crap in every game they do now.

Fucking disgusting.

It was also shit in Fallout 4 by the way, that entire game was crap.

One big reason why I will most likely enjoy this more than Starfield is the simple fact that there is only one planet, which means one overworld, which means waaaay less loading screens (outside of houses). They should never, ever do space again until they find a fix for that glaring issue.
Are you sure they won't just do a similar thing here as with Starfield? Meaning, instead of several plants you'll get a HUGE, randomly generated Hammerfell with thousands of fetch quests and no substance at all? Because boy do I see them aiming for that.

Why would they do that?

Thats literally not how any of their games are

Sci-fi RPGS just were never my thing so Starfield wasn't really a disappointment for me. I might pick it up again when the last stretch of waiting for ES6 begins, similarly how I played New Vegas just before Skyrim launched.

Technically they teased/showed something they called ES6 over 7 years ago now.

I always wondered why they showed off a game that was at least a decade away from releasing.

I would be amazing if they've had a small team of people working on this since 2018 and they do a "fallout 4" and just announce in July that ESVI will ne releasing in December this year.

Highly unlikely, but a man can dream.

I don't understand why they waste all their resources on shit like crafting and base building instead of trying to get their core absolutely fucking right. Which is the combat system, the dungeon design and the open-world with the quests. If they get that right, the game will sell and be celebrated like Skyrim was. Bloating their games up with stuff you can find much better implemented in other games (e.g. Minecraft) is not what's going to save their games (see Starfield). Todd Howard needs to fucking go.

I hope all that's true, then again who leaked it, wasn't Todd was it, going to have to wait and see with Bethesda's track record of PR now, they know we want those things and more and will promise it all, after F76 and Starfield, doesn't mean we will get it.

I hope this is fake, I don’t want anything from Starfield in this game.

Delay it if you have to, get rid of the town building and ship building. Man wtf. Bethesada has fallen off a cliff if this shit is true.

Couldn't be more excited. All they have to do is make it on par with Starfield and I'll be very happy. 13 cities is large, and including oceans and ship building is pretty awesome.

The main things they need to do is make the melee feel as good as the guns in Starfield, and just keep pushing for better writing in quests, and more hardcore RPG elements, less casual catering like Skyrim.

To get investment into the business. Zenimax wasn't doing too well.

As a long-time ES fan, this does not inspire confidence. In particular, the ship building and base building does not appeal to me. It's one reason I dropped Fallout 4.

If [naval combat] is inspired by starfield then it'll be trash. Space exploration in starfield is underbaked crap and they hyped it up like it was going to be revolutionary before release.

That will be useful to remember when Todd starts hyping up how awesome the naval combat will be.

I'm down for any Elder Scrolls as Morrowind and Skyrim modded has been some of my top favorite games of all times and realities rivaled only be modded Fallout games. But I wish it was Summerset Isles instead with a third Numidium powered up by the Eye of Magnus from Skyrim's Winterhold questline.
