Square rumored to be "revisiting" Final Fantasy 15 - Ganker

It's not supposed to be coming anytime soon but here's what's rumored to be done:
>all new version of the game but with heavy asset re-use
>events from DLC and other media will be rearranged throughout the main campaign
>new playable areas
>no comrades stuff or online game associated things
>combat will be reworked to resemble 7R and more members will be added
Now that may strike people as odd, but with all the 7 Rebirth rumors it makes sense since it's supposed to have an open world to mirror the overworld in the original game where you ride around vehicles, so they're taking stuff from games they already are making

They'll also be making new cinematics but not everything will be 3d, a good portion are supposed to be animated 2d paintings.

So if you bought the base game or even Royal Edition it's sounding like it's going to be a different experience. This was really the most troubled of the more recent Final Fantasies and maybe Square is trying to fix it for a new console generation. Like potential was there, but everything was a discombobulated mishmosh of half-baked shit. Would be great if they were to somehow redeem it's flawed legacy.

I buy a complete edition Square... I will even do the stupid jumping stuff again in this dungeon after the story... But gimme the full game!

This needs a remake to unfuck the story. Make it like it was supposed to be at one point: A variation on Hamlet. And let Luna have more fucking screen time. She's the MC's main LI and is absent for most of the fucking game.

I went into 15 with the lowest expectations but I actually ended up enjoying it, probably more than 16. Granted, I played the Royal Edition which had a significant amount of extra content, but even then, the main mission line still felt extremely short and bare bones so I can only imagine the original version. I would welcome such a remaster except for the reworking of the combat part. 15's combat was fine and actually pretty deep, a lot deeper than 16's anyway. Armiger Unleashed was a lot of fun, it's just a shame you had to beat the game before you could get it.

Sounds nice but I doubt it.
Way too much work in the combat suggested alone.
But I do wonder what's going on with XIII, at one point they couldn't stop force feeding you Lightning but now a Remaster is no where in sight.
And they said they wanted ALL Final Fantasy's to be available on PS4.
yep, that didn't happen.

Majority of the assets? Done.

Combat mechanics? Mostly done, if they're just ripping off FF7 Remakirth.

If they manage to make the latter part of the game less linear, I can see me buying it.

Thick Thighs Save Lives Thick Thighs Save Lives Not a XIII fan, but I'd like a remaster for a bit of nostalgia.

There are some merits to the game, such as music and art direction. Would be nice if any kind of remaster had a few tweaks though to the base game like opening up the full combat system earlier, more difficulty and balancing in battles to make the most of what they made.

Yeah, they also have a shit ton of legacy CGI for Versus and early XV that we never saw (except for trailer teasing) which eventually was repurposed for Kingsglaive.

The amount of cut content which was almost complete and playable in the XV we got is staggering, see my thread on it:

Summary vid below, athough doesn't show the 2nd world map much. Insomnia, originally set to be the games opening locale, before venturing out into the open world. Essentially completely cut and relegated to a barebones dungeon: Altissia, whilst you get to explore it, they clearly developed...

If it could be done for a budget of $50-100mil then I think it would be worth exploring as it would just need to sell like 2mil copies to be profitable.

XIII makes the most sense since it's not available on PS4/PS5, It's been 15 years since it came out too so it's probably about time it was remastered.

I think Nomura will force Square to let him make the FF XV he always wanted to make, but not right now. As his last game before retiring.

This sounds so fake. The amount of work this would require would be gigantic. I dont see the point, before remaking older FF games.

If they can remake it as the game it was supposed to be from the start, it could be great. The bones were there. You could see glimpses of what could have been.

It was just terribly rushed and half assed. They squandered the potential so obviously.

They could pick up the pieces and build a real FFXV Redux. If they genuinely put in the effort, they could unwreck this train.

Not gonna happen. The XV we got was compromised and pushed out to get Nomura off of the Versus XIII obsession. He's still clearly stuck on it if all of the
Verum Rex stuff
is to be believed.

I wish this would happen that day but it seems like he will do some of that through Kingdom Hearts IV instead, so I'm not sure the real Versus XIII / XV will ever exists...
