Also, after our games last night, Messi, I switched to Assisted controls, but my losing streak kept going. It didn't help that the game reverted back to manual controls at halftime of a game and I didn't realize it until it was too late.

I won't be stepping on your territory. Is ME2 any good? I heard some mixed things about it and skipped it. Loved ME1 though.
I have mate, got one in Anfield Road Upper when it opened up to members with about 5+. Not a great seat but it should be a great occasion anyway, especially at night.
I thought ME2 was awful, though it did win GAF GOTY so who knows. The plot is terrible, the new characters largely pointless and you spend most of the game doing superfluous shit while about 3 things actually happen. The gunplay is better but it comes at the cost of a lot of gameplay depth. I would say don't get it.
It's the same with most internet backlashes. Goes from the best thing ever to the worst in the space of 6 months. See: GTA IV, MGS 4. It's a fantastic game. It even won GAF's GotY which makes the current hate for it on here even more hilarious.
And for something slightly more on-topic: is the Gary Speed memorial game tonight or tomorrow?

So cliche, didn't really like him much. I didn't really have a problem with the characters in ME2, they just weren't good enough to justify dumping the ME1 characters and spending so much time on these new guys. I really cannot understand why Bioware would make a game and introduce this cast and then just get rid of them in the second game basically - well i do understand that Bioware promised actions would reflect throughout all the games in the series and obviously didn't plan that through.
Or it just makes GAF's GOTY choices even more hilarious.
I'm a massive fan of Mass Effect, played ME1 and ME2 to death but it's easy to see why ME2 is bad. The story (or lack of) is absolute garbage.
Anyway, when is the Holland friendly game? I don't see England winning that game.

It sounds like I should wait to hear how ME3 is received before I decide to play ME2.
Also, I am pretty much purchasing the Away Germany kti, and the Away Netherlands kit for sure.

Honestly, you don't need to play ME2. Just skip it.
ME3 has a comic at the beginning which lets you pick the decisions from ME2. Also, ME2 has no story so you won't miss out on anything. Treat ME2 as a Bleach/Naruto filler episode and you'll be fine.
Of course, you won't know who the ME2 characters are but whatever.

Bioware have regressed creatively over the last few years. We won't see another Baldurs Gate or Neverwinter Nights from them. They still make good games but not to the level of KOTOR or the like.
I think their best game is still the original Mass Effect but everything after that has been a disappointment for me. Dragon Age was ok but it's sequel was a horror show.
Re Thane: Yes he is a cliche character. But he's cliche in the same way as John Mc Clane. He's an action film trope. He's also a hell of a lot better than the rest of supporting cast of ME 2. Actually Moridin was a pretty good character too.

Day 1 DLC, no controller support on PC, mandatory Origin and the fact that I can't even download the demo... it's not likely that I'll get Mass Effect 3. Pretty much all of those I can blame on EA as well. Don't even get me started on how far in the wrong direction Bioware have taken this series. My remaining interest in Mass Effect is based entirely on the how awesome the universe is, and the amount time that I have invested in Mass Effect 1 (and to a lesser extent 2).
And seriously... how do you not put controller support into a game like this?!?

I don't know why it frustrates you. I can see why you like ME2. As a standalone game it's fine, but as a follow-up to ME1 it just doesn't live up to the legacy. They F'd up the story by having you do loyalty missions (daddy issues) and to make it worse, the story itself meant absolutely nothing. ME2 is a Cerberus side-quest filler gaiden.
I say this as a massive ME fan. It's not like I hate the series. It has a stellar universe and I'm the kind of person that would prefer to like something rather than hate. I did play ME2 several times and have all the DLC for it, but in the end, it was a disappointment.
Hopefully ME3 will be all 7 flavours of awesome.

I'm from England.
I don't devote as much faith in to international football as I do for club football. With international football, there are so many cool teams to watch that I don't apply the allegiance I probably should do to my home team. That doesn't mean I won't support England though in their games, but I have much more of an open mind and interest.
Additionally, I've amassed a nice collection of international shirts primarily from countries I've been to or countries people I know have gone to. This is my collectors quirk, as you were. Every country I visit, I make sure I buy their football shirt as a memento. If I return to a country but already have their shirt, I'll go for club shirts.
However, with the likes of the German and Dutch national shirts, I know I won't be visiting these countries any time soon, and given the sex appeal of the shirts, I would love to add them to my collection.

Would I be naive in thinking that AVB could if he had more time to re-work the squad? Guess that applies to any manager but the Chelsea team needs some serious re-working.
