I wonder if the insane amounts of RAM we're getting these days open up a market for more serious gaming on smartphones. Though they will have to seriously come up with a battery revolution. These new processors, insane screens and other fancy stuff need some serious battery to last a day.

A bit maybe. The new processor do make multitasking a lot smoother I imagine. My Xperia Z which is almost two years old now does still experience enough trouble spinning around multiple heavy apps. So more strength doesn't hurt. But it's absolutely time to seek for innovation in other departments. Like charging and batteries in general.
